Lost Links in Yahoo

Missing Backlinks

Every few months or so, I get quite a few people contacting me with information regarding a sudden loss in backlinks as shown in Yahoo, this seems to happen two or three times a year, and I thought I’d just write a small post about it, because I know the first time it happened to me, I was quite concerned about seeing half my backlinks suddenly drop out of sight.

I’m not sure what the reasons for this are, and even after contacting Yahoo for any comments on the situation, I’m still at a loss for the reasons behind the shuffle. What I can tell you is that they generally drop approximately in half for a period of about a week, before returning to their approximate positions.

These drops aren’t accompanied by any loss in search engine rankings, in fact if anything I’ve noticed a slight increase each time these shifts take place. Perhaps like Google, Yahoo prefers to keep their motives behind these backlink changes private, and now with Yahoo search results being powered by Microsoft’s Bing, the transition to Bing powered searches for Yahoo are expected to be completed by 2010

Either way, as stressful as it is to those watching their backlink count on a regular basis, my advice to you is to not panic, they will probably come back within about a week’s time, and in the meantime, just keep up with your backlink building strategy. Backlinks aren’t something you can just do once, and hope they are done; it’s an ongoing process that will most likely last you the life of the website.

Internet marketing is one of the biggest and most successful ways to market in the history of the world. The internet connects people all over the world. With the click of a button people from any country can have access to the same information you see every day. These people want the same products you do, and want to be kept up to date with the same information you feel is important. It’s a shining example of keeping the human family connected through one common means. This has opened the doors for many companies to successfully participate in selling to a global market.

Despite their countries of origins, a good percentage of internet users speak and read English. This means that your products can be sold to anyone who can understand the language. Free email sites, such as Yahoo! and Google have email accounts set up for every country that is legally allowed to access them. This is another means of connecting to the global market. You can literally target your audience by country if that’s what you desire.

Or you can target them by interests. Not just one interest, but several interests. If you have a product that will appeal to women, you can set up internet marketing campaigns that are geared towards women. If you have a product that appeals to those who are looking for a way to work from home or make money online, you’re not just limited to one small country. You can reach people all over the globe. This will increase your sales exponentially if you know how to do it. If you don’t, there are a few suggestions that you can follow.

Though some are saying that this method of internet marketing is out of date, it is still of some use. You can advertise to mailing lists that you purchase online. These lists often contain email addresses from people that reside in several different countries. They all have one thing in common. That is, they want the information that you’re trying to get into their hands. Another method is to use global websites such as Craigslist. But you have to be careful on these websites. Don’t violate the terms of service.

Remember, the wider you cast your net, the more fish you’ll catch. Imagine the success of your internet marketing campaign if it stretched out around the globe. Some businesses have already had success with selling to a global market. Many SEO companies are situated in one country, but they serve several different countries worldwide. The same is true of the blogging community. It connects people with similar interests the world over. And PLR websites will sell their products to whoever has the money to pay for them, no matter where in the world you are. Therefore, it’s important to not only realize the importance of the global market, but to readily take advantage of it. It may seem daunting to market globally, or even impossible, but the internet puts this method of marketing just within your reach.
