Want More Traffic?

traffic

For those of you reading this, I’m going to assume you already have a website or blog and are looking for a way to increase the number of visitors you receive to that site. Obviously the more traffic we can generate, the more potential sales we can enjoy. I’m constantly on the lookout for more efficient streams of traffic and love adding them to my inventory of traffic sources.

Today I’m going to talk about a very basic way that each one of you can get more traffic. In fact you can grow your traffic exponentially using this method, and it’s something that every single one of you can do.

I’m sure you’re familiar with the saying “content is king”, well there might be a reason so many people are claiming this to be true. Because it is! Content is what makes the internet go round and round, and it’s what keeps visitors coming back time, and time again.

Let’s say for instance you have 25 pages worth of articles that you’ve written on a topic that ties in with the theme of your blog, whatever that might be. Let’s also say that you’ve done a small amount of SEO, and back linked those articles to the point you are getting 1 visit per day per article. Now 25 visitors might not seem like much, but it’s something you can at least work with.

Br growing the content you have from twenty-five to fifty, you can effectively give yourself fifty landing pages for people to land on your site. Go one step further, and optimize those articles and build a few backlinks to them, and they’ll start to do well in the search engines resulting in even more traffic to your blog.

Using tools to do some keyword research prior to writing the articles is a more advanced trick you can use to zero in on articles that are going to have very little in the way of competition. By spending a bit of time researching topics, prior to writing them you can find areas that have been overlooked, or else haven’t been written about in a long time.

Increasing the number of pages you have on the internet is the easiest way to increase traffic. It also gives you something with which to promote.

Here’s an Awesome Resource

I’m sure it’s been around for a while, but I’m just finding this great website now, but I have to say I’m super impressed with it already, and am using it to grow my blog business, and increase my reach.

Many of us share a few common goals with our online businesses, and a few of those are:

Twitter followers – We all want to see a large following for a few reasons. It gives us more reach when we have something to announce, or let people know about. It provides us with social proof showing newcomers that many before have chosen to follow you, and it’s a great learning tool, because it gives you access to thousands of likeminded people who are honestly pretty amazing in their own right.

Facebook Fans – Again, like the Twitter followers it’s probably important to have a large base of Facebook fans, since Facebook is where it’s at right now for marketing and traffic and growth.

YouTube Views – Many of you are into using Video as a media outlet, and getting your views up is something that you measure yourself by, and it can be challenging to accomplish at times.

Website visitors – Driving traffic to your website is definitely a goal many of us shares, and our success likely depends on the level of traffic that we can reach with our blog or website.

I found a website that can help you with just one, or all of these areas, and starts to work right away!

www.twiends.com is a place where likeminded users can go to grow their social community simply and easily. You can choose to follow other Twitter users and get credits in exchange, or you can like someone’s fan page, or simply visit their video or website. Each of these activities results in you generating credits that you can then pay out in the area that you would like to grow.

I’ve been wanting to have a larger number of Facebook fans, so I’m only paying out credits when people become a fan of my page. In the last 3 days, I’ve gained about 700 new fans for free.

Now if following, friending, or viewing websites and videos is too time consuming for you then you can also purchase credits to use as well. Each new visitor gets 25 free credits just for joining, and then if you follow featured users you also get 10 more credits each. Trust me they can add up fast. I spent some time working the system and quite quickly gathered 2000 credits that I now payout to people joining my fan page, but I could easily switch it to convert them into Twitter followers, or website visitors if my needs change.

You can even choose people in similar niches as yourself, or set it up by country if you’d like to keep things a little more targeted.

Keyword Research

Keyword Research

Keyword research is a crucial aspect of SEO, or search engine optimization, and is used in order to determine the best keywords to use on a given optimization project. If you work from home, such as if you operate an e-business or make money blogging, then you can benefit by doing a little keyword research of your own. Knowing which keywords you want to use in a search engine optimization project will allow you to get the best results for your money, and here we’ll go over a simple way to do some research on the subject, as well as how it can benefit you.

Perhaps the easiest way for someone wanting to do keyword research is through the use of Google AdWords. Google AdWords is an internet marketing tool that allows you to put in a key phrase or search term, and provides you with a report on how many people are searching for that exact term and similar or related terms each day, each month, and so on. It also provides information on the number of websites in competition for search results on that term, which translates roughly to how difficult it would be for you to appear early on in the search results page.

For example, suppose you run an e-business that sells women’s clothing. You might use Google AdWords to find out how many people search for terms like “women’s fashion,” “trendy clothing,” “cheap women’s clothing,” and so on. By comparing the number of searches to the competition for a given key phrase, you can choose target key words to optimize for that will give you the best results. For example, suppose “women’s fashion” has fifty thousand searches per day, but has a high level of competition. In contrast, suppose “trendy clothing” has forty thousand searches per day, but has less competition. In this case, it might be worth it to take the less popular search in exchange for a higher chance of appearing in the search results.

SEO can help your website, business, or blog increase the amount of incoming traffic. Because almost every online business and blog relies on traffic in order to turn a profit, search engine optimization can help many people increase the success and the efficiency of their websites. If you are looking for a way to give your site or blog a boost, then starting a search engine optimization project is a good start.

Internet Marketing Service Companies And Why You Need Them

internet marketing service companiesNo matter how long you have owned your business getting your company name out there on a consistent basis is a never ending job. With that in mind, let us talk abut internet marketing service companies and why you need them. One reason is that they can do several kinds of advertising in a short amount of time, and you will see results rather quickly.

They will sit down and have a meeting with you to find out where your advertising lacks. Then together you will make a plan that best fits your needs. The services include article and email marketing, revamping your site with keywords for search engine optimization. They also submit your website to a variety of search engines and will even set up a blog for you.

At this point we will discuss what how each of the techniques are done and the purpose of doing each of them. The beauty of having someone else take on this work is that they have several employees that can take on your project at once. That means it will take them less time to complete it than just one person, and it is one less task you need to worry about.

Let us start with the blog that the company will start for you. They will set it up and teach you how and what to post about. You begin to get customers from your website to your blog once you start posting. The topics should be kept to announcements of sales and contests happening on your site, and anything directly related to business.

Not everyone has the gift of writing which is a great reason to hire a company to do it for you. A press release is a fabulous way to get your company name in front of thousands of people. The company will not only write the release but submit them for you as well. A few will also take on the task of email marketing which helps you leverage your time.

Another interesting service offered is web design and maintaining them. This means they have the ability to automatically make your website search engine optimization friendly from the day you have your grand opening and as long as you own the business. As you know this is very important when you own an online store or offer a service to the public.

The best part about this venture is that you learn how to market any business by using some of their ideas. The more you do a task like this the better you get. Thinking outside the box and having creative ideas is what gets businesses noticed the most. There will always be a new way of marketing online so it will be a continual process.

Now that you have a better understanding of internet marketing service companies and why you need them, the next step is determining which of those services will help you the most. You sit down and discuss all they offer and they in turn will guide you to several marketing techniques work best for your particular business. Using more than one will result in more website traffic and potential sales.

Forums For Reputation Building and Traffic

forum postingDespite the growing popularity of social networks, internet forums haven’t lost any ground when it comes to getting people together and interacting, in fact, forums are more popular now than they were a few years ago as more people are online exchanging and discussing ideas.

Leveraging the most popular forums in your niche is a fantastic way to drive loads of highly targeted traffic to your website because on every post you make you can include a signature with a link to your site and believe me; people can’t help but read it! If it has a great call to action as well, lots of people will be inclined to click it and check out what you have to say on your site.

As you post more and more on the forum you will begin to create a reputation for yourself as a knowledgeable person in the industry you have chosen – regardless of whether you have any actual expertise! The simple fact that you become well known is enough to make you the guru in many people’s eyes and that equals more free traffic to your website :-)

There are a few guidelines you should follow if you want to take this approach to building free traffic which are:

-         Choose an appropriate username: using your website name as your username is usually frowned upon by many forum users and admin’s as it’s considered a cheap form of spamming. Using your real name is usually the best option because you are branding yourself as the expert, or if you are not too keen on that then try using the niche name in your username like “golfcaddy” if you register on a golfing forum.

-         Do not sell! This is the most important aspect, you are joining the community to contribute and network, not to go in and sell your product in every post. People can get quite sensitive about this so leave the selling for when they arrive at your website. Don’t even name drop your website because this can irk people as well.

-         Don’t reply to every single forum topic because again it looks quite unnatural – especially if you are promoting your site in the signature. Answer a few posts a day, every day.

-         Don’t write ‘me too’ posts: Your replies should be compelling and informative, writing things such as “I’d love to know as well” or “I was thinking the same thing” doesn’t help to brand you as a guru in your field :) Similarly, and this is a real problem on Internet Marketing related forums, having a link in your signature claiming to teach someone everything they need to know about bowling techniques and then asking how you can score more strikes is not a clever thing to do!

At the end of the day you are going in to a forum to try and get people to come to your website and I know it sounds counter intuitive when I say don’t sell and don’t ask people to go to your website, but once you are seen to be helping people and contributing to the community you will eventually find that people will start recommending your website or product themselves! (Assuming you are providing good, useful content of course!).

Social Networks Drive Website Traffic

website trafficWhen you post a link on a social network, you will often find that you have a very high click through rate compared to if you paid for advertising on the very same site.  Why is this?

The simple reason is that people generally dislike being sold something or advertised to, but they are much more inclined to take the advice of a friend who recommends something to them.

When you post a link on your social network profile you are effectively recommending something to your friends and you will get very high click throughs. With this in mind, it’s very important that you don’t post links to sites which would be of no interest to anyone outside your niche otherwise even your friends will stop clicking on your links.

When you post a link, often sites like Facebook will scan your site to try and find a relevant thumbnail to insert next to the link. Use a site like istockphoto.com or sxc.hu to put relevant or representative photos so that it gets people’s attention better. I often post links to personal blog posts that I make and I always get a better response when there is a thumbnail image next to it.

Most social network sites also allow you to post a number of websites on your bio page which others can see when they are your friend. Take advantage of this because anyone you add as a friend in your niche is likely to come along to find out more about you and if they see you have a website on a topic they are also interested in then you are very likely to get a click.

Another word of warning though, it should go without saying but be a little bit careful about the type of websites you post to your social network profile. For example, unless you are actually a doctor, telling your friends to visit your site about how to cure acne or anxiety are likely to be met with disbelief that you could create such a site when you are not medically trained to do so!

You will also discover that there are probably specific social networking websites targeted at various niches. Sign up to these sites and become a valuable contributor and you will soon find that it starts to drive traffic to your site.

In closing, one thing to always keep in mind is to never spam your friends with your links and consider your network of friends on the social network site before posting a link. Are your Facebook buddies really going to be interested in your new site about Tropical Fish – especially if they know you don’t even own any fish!

How I drive traffic to my website

website trafficPeople are always asking me the best way to generate traffic; they are constantly buying eBooks, courses, and traffic programs to try and do it quicker. Sadly after they’ve done this they are still asking the question.

So, here is a list of things I’ve actually done to promote my site this month. If you implement them, I’m sure they will increase the amount of traffic you recieve, so sooner, some more long term.

Hope it helps.

1.      Submit to directories:

I’ve probably submitted to about 100 directories ranging in page rank 0 to page rank 9. I’ve used to paid directories out of 100. Yahoo, and hotvsnot
Yahoo took about a week to approve me (cost is $299 with no guarantee’s) whereas hotvsnot which is a pr 6 took less than 24 hours to include my site.
Ps. If you’re doing this manually, get roboform you can thank me later! J

2.      Article Marketing:

I’ve used dozens of article directories this month alone; of them all approval seemed to take between an hour to two weeks. Of them all Article Rich at http://www.articlerich.com approved my articles the quickest despite a warning saying it could take some time! Hit these guys up first if you’re in a hurry.

3.      YouTube:

Ok, I didn’t know how to make a video (hey now, that’s not nice… I can hear you laughing) so had someone make a couple for me. Haven’t noticed much in the way of traffic so far, but I’m still hopeful. I know the purpose of the video is to drive traffic to my site, but hey, let’s reverse it. Go visit my video NOW…. (just kidding) now=please! Youtube channel

4.      Social bookmarking:

Ok, I cheated and used a bookmarking service. Seriously, it would have taken me a week to try and do it manually. They charged me less than $100 bucks and submitted my site to over 500 social bookmarking sites. If you’re interested, here’s the link.

5.      Social Media:

Facebook, Twitter, and Squidoo have been my main methods of Social Media sites I’ve been using. Here are a couple of ways I use them to drive extra traffic to my site. 1. Whenever I post on my blog, I update both Facebook, and Twitter to let my friends/followers know. 2. I’ve setup some auto posts using a handy little free website called hootsuite that allows me to schedule “tweets” to go out at predetermined dates and times. I find a good ratio to use is 3 to 1, so basically I’ll send out 3 tweets without including my (or any) link, and 1 that does. This way you don’t come across as spammy.
If you would like to follow us on Twitter you can find us here at www.twitter.com/plrnetmarketing

6.      Blog Commenting:

This one I use sparingly, but whenever I’m visiting a blog and find an article particularly interesting or valuable, I’ll leave a comment for the author with a link to my website. I try to always use “Blog Commenting Etiquette” when posting. 1. Try to add something of value to the discussion. 2. Read the post before commenting (I know, common sense, but you’d be surprised how often this happens). 3. No one word comments (refer to rule number 1). 4. Don’t bold or italicize your entire comment.
Posting on Blogs in related niches is a great way to introduce yourself and your blog to likeminded readers.

7.      Signature file:

Use a signature file in your emails as well as any forum’s you may post on. People are always curious, and may just click to see what your site is all about. Especially if it relates to something they are already interested in.

8.      Make top ten lists like this one:

Some of the most popular posts that get the most traffic, are simple top ten lists related to your particular niche. Try to answer questions people are searching for answers for. Chances are if you’ve looked it up, they’ve looked it up!

9.      Submit your Blog and RSS feed to directories:

If you do a Google search for RSS feed directories, you’ll find lists of RSS and Blog directories where you can submit your site/feed to. In about an hour you can probably submit to about 50 directories.

10.  SEO your site:

Spend some time validating the html on your website, create a sitemap, make sure you have no broken links, and spend a little time optimizing your keywords. All these things will add up, and in the end you’ll start to notice Google sending you more and more traffic. If you can get on the first page of Google, you will definitely see an increase in traffic.
