Easy Ways To Make Money With SponsoredTweets

sponnsoredtweets

Have you ever heard of SponsoredTweets.com before? If you have not heard of this, then you are in for a treat. The reason I want to talk about SponsoredTweets.com today is because it is extremely simple to make money using it. For instance, the queen of Twitter, Kim Kardashian is said to make as much as $25,000 per tweet when somebody sponsors her.

How would you like to get in on that money making machine?

So how does it work you are probably wondering?

It is pretty simple, all you need to do is get yourself a decent sized following on Twitter and then signup to offer sponsored tweets through SponsoredTweets.com. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well there is a little more to it than that.

One of the things that you need to understand is that a responsive twitter following is very important. If you can tweet something and a good percentage of your following clicks the link or does what you ask, then you have a responsive following. The reason why this is important is because some people will want to make sure you have decent FAR (follower activation rate) score. If you have a rate of 10, then everybody is responsive on your list and because of that you can charge more for your tweets.

Now I know this seems to be too good to be true but the truth is that anybody can do this. All you need to do is start building your Twitter following and make your list more responsive. In order to do this there are some things that you need to know and that is what I am going to teach you right now.

4 Ways To Make Easy Money With SponsoredTweets.com

Get More Followers

The first thing that you need to do is quite simple, you need more followers. Whether you have 100,000 or just 1,000 followers doesn’t matter right now, what matters is that you keep growing your list. The reason you need more followers is because people like to have a huge list to market to and the bigger the list the better.

Tweet Relevant Things

Another way to make easy money is to tweet relevant things. If you want to make money with SponsoredTweets.com, then it is imperative that you don’t promote something that is not relevant to your following. For instance, with the PLRNetmarketing I would not want to promote a sale on dentures because you, my following, wouldn’t want to know about that. This is why tweeting something that is relevant to your following is a must, both for you and the sponsor.

Get Retweeted

Another thing that you need to do is ask for Retweets. The reason why you want to do this is because this will help increase your FAR score. What you need to understand is the more followers you have and the higher your FAR score is, the more money you can charge. Asking to be Retweeted is not that difficult and that is why I highly recommend asking every once and a while. While we are on this subject, do me a favor and Retweet this so that more people are aware of what SponsoredTweets.com can do for them.

Promote Your Twitter Account

The last thing that you need to do in order to make easy money with SponsoredTweets.com is to promote your Twitter account. The reason why you need to do this is for a couple of reasons. The first reason is so that you can get more followers and the second reason is so that more people see your tweets. Just remember, the more people that you can get to follow you and read your tweets, the better.

Out of all the ways people are trying to make money with Twitter, this is probably one of the easiest things you can do. The reason I say this is because it doesn’t take a genius to get more followers on Twitter and the next thing you need to do is just sign up for an account at SponsoredTweets.com.

Before you go ahead let me ask you one thing – Out of all the different ways to make money online, do you know of anything easier that simply tweeting a message and getting paid for it?

Follow Us on Twitter and Get a free in Depth SEO Report

Today I wanted to show you what an optimization report from the Axandra Internet Business Promoter program looks like. You can run reports on your websites (or your competitors) to find areas that are lacking in order to improve your search engine rankings.

Most of us have a primary keyword that we are trying to rank our domain for, in my case it’s “internet marketing” so I’ve run a report using this keyword to show you all the aspects that are covered within the report.

While the majority of fields in this report can definitely benefit your website, it’s important to note that some components aren’t entirely reliable in some circumstances. For example the links pointing to my site always come up weak because one of the competing websites is Wikipedia.

Despite having the 3rd highest link count the program takes an average of the ten top sites vs. your own. Since Wikipedia has over a million backlinks they’ve decided that the “average” competitor has 117,053 back links when it fact there are only two with more backlinks than myself. (It’s going to take me at least 2 weeks to build a million back links! LOL)

I ranked on the first page of Google for my keyword until the recent Panda update and after that slid down to the tenth page. After using this program, and focusing more on link building I’ve since moved back up to two or three. Since this keyword gets about 92,000 searches every day it still manages to send some traffic, but nowhere near what it did when I was sitting at the seventh or eighth position on page one!

Since the content on my homepage does change as the new articles are posted and things like keyword density change, the percentile score can also change from day to day, or week to week. The goal should be though to focus on aspects you can control, and as long as you keep building links to your website, you’ll notice an increase in SERPS. (Search engine ranking position)

I believe that in order to be successful in our niche we have to be willing to help others succeed. Because of this I’m always striving to help others in the industry, as well as readers, subscribers, and followers of my blog. If you would like me to run a report for your blog, or website shoot me a message on Twitter (would love to have you follow me if you aren’t already), and I’ll be happy to find the time.

Because of the sheer numbers I have following me I will of course use a first come, first serve process so patience might be required, but I will definitely get to you. I’ll need the URL of your blog or website, as well as the primary keyword you are targeting.

Thanks for reading, thanks for following, and here’s to our success!

Global link popularity of web site

Essential

The global link popularity
measures how many web pages link to your site. The number of web pages
linking to your site is not as important as the quality of the web pages
that link to your site.

All major search engines take the
quality and the context of the links into account. Search engines assume
that your web page must offer relevant content if many quality sites
link to it.

Advice for the global link popularity

In average, less web pages link to
your page than to the top ranked pages. The average link popularity of
the top ranked pages is 117,053, the link popularity of your web page is
3,298. You must increase the number of web pages from different domains
that link to your web site. Keep in mind that all search engines also
evaluate the link texts and the quality of the web pages that link to
your web site.

To get more quality links pointing
to your site, use IBP’s directory submission tool and IBP’s link
management tool. (You can remove all references to IBP in the IBP
Business Edition.)

<<

Google cannot find any web site
that links to your web site from a different domain. Make sure that
Google is able to access your web site and that Google has not banned
your web site from its index.

<<

Link texts of inbound links

Essential

Inbound links are links from other
web sites to your site. If many other sites link to your site, then
search engines consider your site to be important. However, the number
of links is not as important as is the relevance of the linking page and
the link text used in linking to your site.

This chapter lists a sample of the
web pages that link to your site, along with the link text. Note that
search engines do not reveal all inbound links to your site.

The more inbound link texts are
analyzed, the more meaningful is the quality of the advice. To get
statistically significant results, you should analyze at least 50
inbound link texts. You can change the number of analyzed inbound link
texts by selecting Top 10 Optimizer > Report Contents > Link
Popularity.

Advice for the link texts of inbound links

To get a high ranking on
Google.com, make sure that the web pages that link to your site use the
search term “internet marketing” in their link texts. The more links to
your web site contain “internet marketing”  (or a part of it) in
the link text, the more likely it is that your web site will get a high
ranking on Google.com for that search term.

It is advisable to use different
but related keywords for the link texts. If all links to your web site
use exactly the same link text, then Google.com might lower your
rankings because of unnatural linking patterns.

In addition, the quality and reputation of the web pages that link to your site is very important to the search engines.

To get more quality links pointing
to your site, use IBP’s directory submission tool and IBP’s link
management tool.  (You can remove all references to IBP in the IBP
Business Edition.)

Keyword use in body text

Essential

The body text is the text on your
web page that can be seen by people in their web browsers. It does not
include HTML commands, comments, etc. The more visible text there is on a
web page, the more a search engine can index. The calculations include
spaces and punctuation marks.

Age of web site

Very Important

Spam sites often come and go
quickly. For this reason, search engines tend to trust a web site that
has been around for a long time over one that is brand new. The age of
the domain is seen as a sign of trustworthiness because it cannot be
faked. The data is provided by Alexa.com  (or Archive.org if
Alexa.com does not have data about a site).

Advice for the web site age

The web site age could not be
determined. In general, the older your web site, the better it is for
your rankings on Google.com. If you have a young web site, you must
compensate by improving the other search engine ranking factors.

Keyword use in H1 headline texts

Very Important

H1 headline texts are the texts
that are written between the <h1>…</h1> tags in the HTML
code of a web page. Some search engines give extra relevance to search
terms that appear in the headline texts. This chapter examines if this
applies to Google.com, too.

Example: <h1>your very big headline text</h1>

Links from social networks

Important

On social network sites, people
decide which web sites are popular. This means that the popularity on
social network sites cannot be easily influenced. For this reason,
search engines might trust web sites more if they are popular on social
networks.  (“n/a” means “data not available”.)

Advice for the links from social networks

In average, less web pages link to
your page than to the top ranked pages on these social networks. The
average link popularity of the top ranked pages is 28, the link
popularity of your web page is 1. You must increase the number of web
pages that link to your web site on these social networks.

Server speed

Important

Popular web sites often have
faster server response times compared to smaller unimportant sites. In
addition, most search engines index more pages from fast web sites. This
chapter shows you how long it takes on average for web pages on the top
ranked sites to load. The data is based on the average server speed of
the last 30 days and is provided by Alexa.com  (“n/a” means that
Alexa.com does not have data about your server speed).

Keyword use in IMG ALT attributes

Important

The <img alt> attribute
defines an alternative text for an image when the user uses a text
browser or when the user has turned off the display of images in the web
browser application. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer displays the
alternative text if the user puts the cursor over the graphic. This
chapter tries to find out if it makes sense to include the search term
in the <img alt> attributes to improve your rankings.

Top level domain of web site

Important

Web sites with certain top level
domains  (TLD) are statistically more likely to contain higher
quality, trustworthy contents. For this reason, search engines might
prefer web sites with restricted TLD  (.edu, .gov., .mil) over
younger TLD  (e.g., .biz, .info, .jobs). In addition, country code
TLD  (e.g., .ca, .de, .fr) are often preferred in the country’s
local search results.

Keyword use in same domain link texts

Moderately Important

Link texts are words and sentences
that are used as links. Same domain link texts are the link texts of
the links that point to a web page on the same domain. This chapter
examines if Google.com takes search terms in same domain link texts into
account.

Example: The HTML tag <a
href=”contact.htm”>Contact information</a> contains the same
domain link text “Contact information”.

Keyword use in outbound link texts

Moderately Important

Link texts are words and sentences
that are used as links. Outbound link texts are the texts within the
<a>…</a> tags when the <a> tag links to a web page
on a different domain. This chapter examines if Google.com gives
relevance to search terms in outbound link texts.

Example: The HTML tag <a href=
“http://www.not-your-site.com/about.htm”>About the company</a>
contains the outbound link text “About the company”.

Keyword use in meta description

Moderately Important

The Meta Description tag allows
you to describe your web page. This chapter tries to find out if
Google.com takes the Meta Description tag into account. Some search
engines display the text to the user in the search results.

Example: <meta name=”description” content= “This sentence describes the contents of your web site.”>

Even if the Meta Description tag
might not be important for ranking purposes, you should use the Meta
Description tag to make sure that your web site is displayed with an
attractive description in the search results.

Number of trailing slashes in URL

Moderately Important

The number of trailing
slashes  (/) in the URL indicates where a web page falls in a
site’s overall hierarchy. If the URL contains many trailing slashes,
meaning it is placed in a sub-sub-directory, then the webmaster does not
seem to think that the page is important in relation to the other
pages.

slashes than the top ranked pages. This means that you do not have to
change the number of trailing slashes in your URL.

HTML validation of web page to W3C standards

Slightly Important

Web pages are written in special
languages called HTML and CSS. Like any language, HTML and CSS change
constantly. The World Wide Web Consortium  (W3C) is the governing
body that establishes what is valid HTML/CSS and what is not. Search
engines obey the HTML/CSS standard. If there are errors in the HTML/CSS
code of your web page, then search engines might not be able to read
everything of your web page.

Advice regarding the validity of your web site

Both the CSS code and the HTML code
of your web page www.plrinternetmarketing.com is valid according to the
W3C specifications. This means that Google.com does not have problems
reading your web page.

OK

Readability level of web page

Slightly Important

The Flesch Reading Ease test is a
United States governmental standard to determine how easy a text is to
read. It measures the approximate level of education necessary to
understand the web page content. Higher scores indicate the text that is
easier to read, and lower numbers mark harder-to-read texts. Scores
among different languages are not comparable.

Keyword use in meta keywords

Slightly Important

The Meta Keywords tag allows you
to define which search terms are important to your web page according to
your opinion. It should be placed between the
<head>…</head> tags in the HTML code of your web page.
This chapter tries to find out if Google.com gives relevance to search
terms in the Meta Keywords tag.

Keyword use in the first sentence of the body text

Slightly Important

The first sentence of the body
text is the first sentence after the <body> tag in the HTML code
of your web page. Some search engines give more relevance to search
terms when they appear in the first sentence. Some will use your first
sentence as the description of your page on the search result page.

Example: <body>Here goes the first sentence. This text is not the first sentence.

Keyword use in HTML comments

Slightly Important

HTML comment tags are “hidden
comments” in the HTML code of your web page. They are not visible to the
user. This chapter tries to find out if search terms in the HTML
comment tags are relevant for a good ranking in Google.com.

Example: <!– comments with keywords  –>

Search engine compatibility

This chapter examines the general search engine compatibility of your web page.

Advice

Search engines need text to index
your web pages, to determine the theme of your web site and to produce a
site summary. They cannot read what is written on your graphical images
or in a Flash movie. Google recommends to create a useful,
information-rich site. Fresh, continuously updated content is one of the
best ways to ensure that search engines return to your web site
(and your visitors, too). Your web page “www.plrinternetmarketing.com”
contains 1,311 words which should be enough for search engines.

OK

Some search engines penalize web
sites if the search terms of the Meta Keywords tag don’t appear in the
body text of the web page. All search terms of your Meta Keywords tag
appear in the body text of your web page so there will not be any
problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page doesn’t use the Meta Refresh tag so there won’t be any problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page doesn’t use the Meta Robots tag so there won’t be any problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page doesn’t use the Meta Title tag so there won’t be any problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page doesn’t use any Dublin Core meta tags so there won’t be any problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page doesn’t use any Meta tags twice so there won’t be any problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page doesn’t use the <title> tag twice so there won’t be any problems with search engines in this aspect.

OK

Some search engines and directories
don’t accept submissions with capitalized letters in the document title
or in the meta tags. Your web page doesn’t use all capitalized letters
in those web page elements so there won’t be any problems with the
search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page uses script code in an external file so you’ve already minimized the problems with scripts and the search engines.

OK

Your web page uses style sheet code
in an external file so you’ve already minimized the problems with style
sheets and the search engines.

OK

Your web page doesn’t use frames so there won’t be any problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Some search engines consider tiny
text  (i.e. font size 1) as an attempt to fool the search engines.
Some webmasters have abused tiny text in the past to hide dozens of
keywords on a web page that human web surfers cannot see. Your web page
doesn’t seem to use tiny text so there shouldn’t be any problems with
the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Your web page URL
“www.plrinternetmarketing.com” doesn’t indicate a dynamically served web
page so there shouldn’t be any problems with the search engines in this
aspect.

OK

Your web page URL
“www.plrinternetmarketing.com” doesn’t contain any of the special
characters “&”, “$”, “%”, “?” or “=” in it so there shouldn’t be any
problems with the search engines in this aspect.

OK

Some search engines and directories
rank web sites lower that are hosted at free web space providers, or if
web sites don’t have their own domain name. Some search engines also
limit the number of web pages they’ll index from a single domain. Your
web site doesn’t seem to be hosted at a free web space provider. If it
does, consider getting your own domain name.

OK

Factors that could prevent your top ranking

Some ranking factors cannot be
measured because the search engines do not reveal the necessary data, or
it would be extremely time-consuming to measure the data. Make sure you
pay attention to the following factors because they could prevent a top
ranking for www.plrinternetmarketing.com on Google.com.

Advice

Inbound links to your web page

How fast does your web page get new links pointing to it?

Do the web sites which link to your page belong to the same content category?

Since when do the links to your page exist?

Is the text surrounding the link to your page relevant to the search term “internet marketing”?

Your web page

How many important links from your other pages point to your web page?

Negative ranking factors  (you should be able to say “no” to all the following questions)

Is your content very similar or a duplicate of existing content?

Is your server often down when search engine crawlers try to access it?

Do you link to web sites that do not deserve a link?

Do you use the same title or meta tags for many web pages?

Internet Marketing for Dummies

When it comes to internet marketing there are a few well known facts that many of us seem to ignore, or overlook often to our own detriment. By implementing the basics early on and creating a solid marketing foundation, you’re chances of success increase dramatically.

A Plan:

First thing you’re going to need, even before a domain and website is a plan! You need a complete plan that includes every single aspect you can think of concerning the structure, launch, and growth of your business. Knowing where you’re heading will make it a thousand times easier to get yourself there.

Goals:

Every successful marketer, and in fact every successful entrepreneur will tell you how important goal setting, monitoring, and achievement are to the continued growth of any business or endeavor. Goals can generally be broken down into short, medium, and long term goals, but since these are YOUR goals, they can look and feel any way you choose.

I myself choose to have daily, monthly, annual, and then long term goals. This way I can see at a glance if I’m on track to achieve them, or need to invest more time or resources, or perhaps come up with a new solution all together. Remember, these documents are yours, and can be fluid and flexible in nature. The true power within them is creating and acting upon them.

A Revenue Model

Now while this might sound simple (we did call it internet marketing for dummies) enough for some reason it gets overlooked by more people than you might think. If you are looking to earn a living from the internet, you have to have some sort of product or service to sell. These products don’t even have to be your own, and including affiliate income is perhaps one of the easiest ways to get started making money online.

Traffic

We all need traffic to our websites and offers, and getting it usually amounts to good old fashioned hard work, mixed in with some high quality content. There are very few “tricks” involved here, but the effort will need to be put forth if you’re going to be profitable.

Generally speaking your traffic will come from four main sources, and you can focus your efforts on those in order to realize the best return on your investment which will usually be time.

-          Search Engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, and others)

-          Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Etc.)

-          Social Bookmarking Sites (Stumbleupon, Digg, Delicious, and others)

-          Branding Efforts (direct, guest posting, blog commenting, forum participation, etc.)

I could go into more detail on each of these, but honesty each one could and has been the topic for an entire eBook. I’d suggest investing the time in educating yourself fully on each aspect above in order to capitalize on the vast amount of visitors that are actively seeking a product or website, just like yours!

Now while the title might be “Internet Marketing for Dummies”, truth be told, Internet marketing is for just about anyone looking to earn either a little, or a lot of money online. If you go into it with the mentality that this is a business like any other and requires more than just a website, and some luck, chances are you’ll start enjoying those payments that come in while you’re awake, asleep, or even on holidays!

Good luck to all of you!

Twitter Page Rank now Zero

Google PR

There is a lot of buzz going around the blogosphere today as people start to notice the fact that the Social Networking Giant, and ninth highest traffic website online today has noticed a catastrophic plunge in Page Rank.

While they were a Page Rank 9 previously, they are now sitting at a very humble 0. The consensus is that Google is punishing them for something, and while this could very well be the case, it could also be something as simple as a glitch or error, or perhaps Twitter itself has redirected their own Page Rank to other pages they deem as more important and within their own network.

If you take a look at the various Twitter profiles, you’ll be met with a PR0 for most (all?), yet if you visit various internal pages over at Twitter you’ll see that they still remain at PR 9.

Their blog, developers page, support page, and many others have remained unchanged which would lead me to believe there is no penalty being levied against them despite the internet “rumors” floating around today.

http://twitter.com/#!/plrnetmarketing – PR 0

https://support.twitter.com/ – PR 9

http://status.twitter.com/ – PR 9

http://blog.twitter.com/ – PR 9

There have been quite a few changes popping up both with the recent Panda (farmer) update that Google rolled out and the Page Rank update that followed a few months later.

It certainly can’t be said that Google was unfair (or perhaps it can) as they themselves saw a drop from PR 10 to a slightly lower PR 9, while Facebook went up to a hefty PR 10.

While a great many online marketers, and SEO professionals will claim that Page Rank doesn’t matter, and shouldn’t be worried about, we still maintain a close eye not only on our own sites, but also those around us, and the thousands of articles on the subject would bely otherwise I think.

Here at PLR Internet Marketing we saw a rise from PR 3 to PR 4 so I guess something we did was looked upon favorably (at least as far as Page Rank is concerned), but our Search traffic coming in from Google dropped from 60% to slightly less than 40%, and many of the keywords we previously ranked for, have dropped or are shuffling up and down on a daily basis.

I’m sure most of us would like to see things level out so that we can start tracking our analytics once more, and actually have them make some sort of sense, but according to Google, Panda was just one of up to 500 algorithmic changes that will be taking place this year.

Is Twiends Dead?

twiends

With a slow launch back in December of 2009, Twiends started to see an explosive growth in both traffic and users in March of 2010. The explosion of traffic had people of all social networks flocking to join in order to expand their social reach, as well as their social networks.

Marketers and individuals alike could choose to offer credits in the form of seeds (I’m assuming one of the larger social sites took offence at the word credits) in exchange for other users to do any one of the following:

  1. Follow them on Twitter
  2. “Like” their fan page on Facebook
  3. Watch their video on YouTube
  4. Visit their website for a predetermined time

Users were able to build up their credits by also participating in the above activities or buy purchasing them directly from the website for upwards of $599.95 for 50,000 seeds. With 50,000 seeds you could reasonably expect to grow your twitter followers (or fans, hits, views) by about five to ten thousand.

  • 50,000 seeds paying out 5 seeds and accounting for the 30% drop rate most users are experiencing would result in 7,000 followers on Twitter, “likes” on Facebook, hits on your site, or views on your video.

2011 wasn’t a great year for Twiends, it seems it signaled the beginning of the end, and while they are still struggling to find something for all those users to do, it simply doesn’t appear to be the reality.

2011 saw Google step in and shut them down as far as the website tab was concerned. Google penalized them for facilitating what in its eyes was nothing more than a service that could potentially get millions of AdSense accounts banned for using their traffic. (Goes against Google’s Terms of Service)

June 17th saw the removal of the Facebook features after Facebook banned them from continuing to use the API needed for them to continue. I think it was at this point that many users started to realize that the Twiends experience was coming to a close. There was a noticeable drop in traffic following this event.

Less than a month later, on July 11th users who logged in quickly noticed that there was another missing tab in the navigational panel. After 24 hours where users were unable to post in the support forum regarding the issue, Twiends issued this statement:

“Hi all, we unfortunately had to remove seeds from the YouTube feature. We’ll have an update on the issue next week. Thanks for your understanding. Dave”

While it’s unclear why they lost this latest tab and feature (Google does own YouTube) this will likely be the final straw for users, and unless they are able to quickly find another viral method  for growing something that doesn’t include Facebook, YouTube, or Google they will most likely fizzle out into a shadow of their former selves.

Surprisingly Twitter who is always quick to ban developers from using their API in a way that they deem against the “user experience” has left Twiends alone to their own devices. I suppose now that they are the only feature left, Twitter may start to pay a little more attention to them, and if they take their cue from Google and Facebook, we could see the end of them all together!

How to get 50,000 Twitter Followers

Twitter Followers

I recently celebrated my 50,000th follower on Twitter, and thought I’d share the various techniques I used to accomplish it, to help others who might still be struggling to grow their own social network.

Engage with not only the followers you have, but also the ones you don’t. A great way to build a loyal following is to actively seek out users who have questions that fall into your area of expertise. By helping others with questions, or problems that may seem inconsequential to you, might just have saved the other party hours of searching for and implementing a solution that you yourself know off by heart!

“It is by helping others, that we help ourselves”

Set goals for yourself in all areas of life and business, including those that surround your social media targets. If it’s important to have 10,000, 50,000 or 100,000 followers, it most likely isn’t going to happen by accident. (Unless you also star on a daytime television show) By setting goals and tracking them on a regular basis you’ll be monitoring and adjusting your progress, as well as seeking out new methods to try in case you aren’t achieving the numbers you’d like to be.

Leverage your existing web properties to maximize the number of people who actually see that you in fact have a Twitter account. Many of us include a small “Follow Me” graphic somewhere on our blogs. Instead make a larger sized banner telling people what you tweet, why they should follow you, and of course where to find you! If you have Squidoo Lenses, or Blogger blogs, make sure you’ve remembered to include an invitation there.

Make sure you are taking advantage of the signature file’s that can be included with any email. A signature file is simply a short bit of text or graphics that automatically gets appended to each and every email you send out. Include an invitation to follow you on Twitter, as well as the URL to your website.

Take advantage of social introductory sites like Twiends where you can grow your community by following others and being rewarded in the way of points that are called “seeds”. You then use those same seeds to offer a reward to others for following you. There are even setting which will allow you to only attract people who are in your own geographic location should that be something that is important to you.

Actively follow users who are interested in the same topics as you are. Many times, these same people will in turn follow you back. It is important to note that Twitter frowns upon following mass amounts of people only to unfollow those who don’t follow you back, so be careful and stick to the rules they’ve laid out for us.

Often times the best way to keep and attract new followers is by providing great content for them. If I notice someone retweeting my content, and I’m not yet following them, I’ll quickly rectify that. After all I enjoy getting my content shared as much as the next guy.

Make sure you are reaching all your existing followers by tweeting for maximum effect. Now I’ve personally tested what tweet frequency results in the most clicks for my particular type of follower and have found 20 to 43 minutes works best. And since many of my followers aren’t located strictly in my time zone, I have to tweet during hours I might not be in front of the computer.

There are plenty of website, or software solutions that will allow you to pre-write the messages you want to go out, and then schedule the times you’d like them sent at. This way those over in China or India also get a chance to see, and possibly share your content.

And last but not least, this is probably the most powerful method I’ve used to grow my twitter followers, and I use it to this day! What I do is choose someone who happens to be in my niche or market and has more followers than I do. I generally try to keep it within 2000 followers, but have on occasion gone after someone with more. (It’s usually easier with smaller jumps; you could just as easily go after someone with 200 more followers than yourself.)

I then take one of my post-it notes, and write out the user, as well as their current follower count. Then add my own details in with a highlight showing the difference. I then make it a point to overtake that user, and devote a small portion of time each day toward Twitter, and growth and engagement. Once I overtake that user, I simply find another with slightly more followers.

The most recent motivator in my quest for more followers is none other than Pat Flynn who until 8:00 am this morning had more followers than I at 50,127. Pat is an unassuming, yet great internet marketer who shares not only his information over at Smart Passive Income, but also his income statements as well. I know I for one, find his site hugely motivating, and plan to read every single post he writes!

“Thanks for the motivation Pat!”

This is definitely one of those overlooked methods that most people will skim past, and never consider doing because it sounds too simple. (And it is) But I have to tell you, out of all the methods I’ve used, this is easily the most powerful one for me!

The Wonderful World of Web 2.0

Web 2.0

Web 2.0 is a term that’s often misused.  Some people use the term to refer to a particular style of graphics design, but that’s not what web 2.0 is really about.  Web 2.0 is all about user-generated content.

This means the visitors to your site generate the majority of the content on the site, as opposed to the site owner or writers creating the content.  A perfect example of web 2.0 is Squidoo.  Squidoo is a social network, which is a type of web 2.0 site.

Although the site does post some of its own content, such as the lensmaster tip blog, the vast majority of the site was built by individuals creating their own pages within the site.  When a user signs up to the site, they’re allowed to position themselves as experts on anything from A-Z (they even have a separate section for R and X rated pages that are kept from the general G-rated public).

They create a unique page on the Squidoo domain, with all sorts of information about their niche topic.  They can create or join groups and post in the SquidU forum to communicate with others in the community.

One of the oldest types of web 2.0 sites is the forum.  Forums are almost as old as the Internet itself, and they were one of the first types of web 2.0 concepts.  Other very old web 2.0 predecessors were guestbooks, free-for-all link sites, and classified ad sites.

These days, web 2.0 sites are more complex.  Rather than simply posting messages on a forum, users can typically generate their own profiles, create their own custom pages, and have more involvement in creating the site and its content.

There are many different types of web 2.0 sites.  MySpace and Facebook are two well-known social networking sites.  Blogger is a very popular blog platform, which allows people to develop a type of online diary or journal.

Twitter is somewhat like a blog, only users post very small snippets of content in each post.  Social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon and Digg allow users to post their favorite links, and allow other people to vote on those links.

Squidoo and HubPages are two sites that let people create pages of information about specific subjects, a bit like a one-page website about a particular topic, similar to Wikipedia.  The basic function of web 2.0 sites is to allow users to post their own content to the site.

Web 2.0 sites can be leveraged for marketing purposes if used correctly.  The key is to immerse yourself in the community and become known as a real person rather than a nameless marketer hoping to cash in on their pooled traffic generation.

Twiends for Twitter

Stronger together

I wrote a few weeks ago about using Twiends to grow your social network, and allow you choose between either growing your Fan page, YouTube channel, or Twitter followers. Quite of you took advantage of it right away and started to grow your networks, but I had a few people say they didn’t think that it would work.

They were of the opinion that since I already had 20,000 followers on Twitter that I was using that number to influence my review of Twiends. Fair enough, here are my growth stats for the last month.

On March 28th I had exactly 20,848 people following me on Twitter and if you check my stats I’ve had around 20,000 for some time now. Fast forward a month to today and you’ll see I now have 29,330 followers and a prediction for 38,695 in the course of another 30 days if I continue with this rate of growth.

Now personally I’d of been happy with 1000 or so new followers in a month’s time, but I’m not going to say no to this kind of growth. Having a large audience is usually a benefit in my industry.

It’s important to note that I’ve also never paid more than 2 credits for a follower, so my growth while consistent is still likely lower than what other could expect. I have two monitors so I usually have the second one open to their site, and I’ll watch the YouTube video’s and build up credits that way.

You can also choose the fast route of purchasing credits to use; it all depends on whether you have more time than money, or more money than time. Me, I have lots of time and it’s easy to build credits while I’m working on my primary monitor.

If having a large social network is something that is important to you or your business, I’d definitely recommend signing up for free account, and taking advantage of the millions of other users networking on there.

One word of caution though, if you follow back everyone who follows you I’d suspend that while you are using the service. Unfortunately with anything like this system there will always be spammers, and fake accounts and I’ve noticed more than my fair share. Since I’m paying for the follow I don’t really feel obligated to follow back anyway unless they are someone I’d normally follow and interact with.

For free Twiends credits you can sign up to their newsletter and receive 50 free credits.

See you there!

Twitter Tools for Power Users

Twitter

Twitter has certainly become a force to be reckoned with, and chances are if you’re serious about blogging then you’ve already implemented some sort of Twitter strategy to maximize your exposure and capitalize on all those individuals currently interacting heavily.

I too have read the statistics on both Twitter and Facebook, but I can’t help but notice that when I log into my Analytics program I am still getting twice as much traffic from Twitter as I am from Facebook despite the fact that they have similar counts.

The key to maximizing any traffic source is to use the tools available to you in the most effective manner. With that in mind here are some of the tools I use daily to achieve the traffic returns I do.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck is a powerful twitter management tool that divides your twitter account into manageable sections where you can see at a glance just what is going on in your Twitter circle. You can easily interact with the rest of the people online effortlessly and track conversations that are important and relevant to you.

Tweetmeme
Tweetmeme is a WordPress plugin like the one to the right of this post that allows visitors to easily retweet content they enjoy, or think that their readers might benefit from. Over time, and with proper engagement and as your traffic starts to increase you’ll see the quantity of RT’s increase as well. There’s nothing more satisfying than checking in on a post you wrote in the morning and seeing it now has over 100 retweet!

Tweet Attacks

Now this one is definitely my personal favourite by far. I’ve had this one for a little over a year and it’s paid for itself many times over. It is $147 to pick up, but well worth it. If you can’t afford it at that price shoot me an email, and I’ll make sure you get a deal on it! This one tool is responsible for the bulk of my Twitter traffic, and has also allowed me to build up a substantial following of over 26,000 followers.

Twiends

If you are looking to grow your social network (Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube) then this site is a must. They basically provide a system that allows users to earn credits for either watching other user’s video’s, following them on Twitter, or liking their fan page, and in exchange you can then use those credits to attract fans to your pages. There is also the ability to purchase credits if you don’t have the time to invest, or perhaps don’t wish to follow anyone else.

Twitter Counter

This is a great way to measure your twitter growth over time, and by having something to benchmark it with it definitely lends itself toward becoming a little more competitive with yourself or other users. It also provides you with a great little widget that you can show on your blog and display the current number of followers you have. You can see mine to the right of my “Follow us on Twitter” graphic. If you then click on it, you’ll be taken to my stats page where you can see my growth as well as ranking in the Twitterverse!

Klout

This is a great tool for measuring the effectiveness of key performance metrics like true reach, audience engagement, and amplification probability. Basically you receive a score between 1 and 100, with the higher scores reflecting individuals with a larger sphere of influence on Twitter.

These are just a handful of tools that can help you to take both your Twitter account, as well as your blog to new levels. The more people you connect with personally, the more likely you are to see an increase in the level of traffic you receive from Twitter.

Make it easy for People to Share your content

share

You go to a lot of effort to research and then type up a post articles for your blog so I’m sure you’d like to receive that maximum amount of visitors to that post as humanly possible right? Sharing that knowledge is what makes our blogging world go round, and round.

I’m still very surprised when I see blogs with no sharing, or social buttons anywhere near those posts they spent so much time on. It’s probably no wonder that their Alexa rank is way up in the millions either.

Take a look at some of the highest traffic sites and you’ll soon spot the Facebook “like” button, or the Twitter Retweet button. In some cases like Hubspot you’ll notice a Linkedin “Share” button as well those readers there are putting to good use, and which ultimately sends them even more traffic through each reader who stops by and finds value in their posts.

Heading over to the Huffington Post which as I’m sure most of you know was recently sold to AOL for 315 Million dollars, and you have very little trouble figuring out where the goals and priorities lie. There are no less than 14 opportunities to “like the articles on a page” as well as other social networking opportunities such as RSS and email subscriptions.

Social media is growing at an astounding rate, and should be every business and blog owners concern if they’re serious about being in business. There is very little return on your outbound marketing efforts, and the day of interrupting people at dinner or spamming their inbox in the hopes of either making a sale, or at the very least driving some traffic to your site is fading fast, if not already gone.

I’ll be the first person to say that social bookmarking sites like Digg, or Stumbleupon don’t really provide much in the way of quality traffic to most blogs and yet they do seem to find their way into our analytics reports driving hundreds, or thousands of visitors to our sites every month. If you’re looking at increasing the level of traffic to your blog and haven’t been taking advantage of these networks, perhaps now is the time to start.

You’ve already invested time into sharing something with your readers that ultimately is of use or benefit to them, so you’ve already instilled a certain sense of giving freely. Take advantage of the reciprocity that most people will likely feel, and go ahead and ask for that “share”!
