Twitter Tools for Power Users

Twitter

Twitter has certainly become a force to be reckoned with, and chances are if you’re serious about blogging then you’ve already implemented some sort of Twitter strategy to maximize your exposure and capitalize on all those individuals currently interacting heavily.

I too have read the statistics on both Twitter and Facebook, but I can’t help but notice that when I log into my Analytics program I am still getting twice as much traffic from Twitter as I am from Facebook despite the fact that they have similar counts.

The key to maximizing any traffic source is to use the tools available to you in the most effective manner. With that in mind here are some of the tools I use daily to achieve the traffic returns I do.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck is a powerful twitter management tool that divides your twitter account into manageable sections where you can see at a glance just what is going on in your Twitter circle. You can easily interact with the rest of the people online effortlessly and track conversations that are important and relevant to you.

Tweetmeme
Tweetmeme is a WordPress plugin like the one to the right of this post that allows visitors to easily retweet content they enjoy, or think that their readers might benefit from. Over time, and with proper engagement and as your traffic starts to increase you’ll see the quantity of RT’s increase as well. There’s nothing more satisfying than checking in on a post you wrote in the morning and seeing it now has over 100 retweet!

Tweet Attacks

Now this one is definitely my personal favourite by far. I’ve had this one for a little over a year and it’s paid for itself many times over. It is $147 to pick up, but well worth it. If you can’t afford it at that price shoot me an email, and I’ll make sure you get a deal on it! This one tool is responsible for the bulk of my Twitter traffic, and has also allowed me to build up a substantial following of over 26,000 followers.

Twiends

If you are looking to grow your social network (Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube) then this site is a must. They basically provide a system that allows users to earn credits for either watching other user’s video’s, following them on Twitter, or liking their fan page, and in exchange you can then use those credits to attract fans to your pages. There is also the ability to purchase credits if you don’t have the time to invest, or perhaps don’t wish to follow anyone else.

Twitter Counter

This is a great way to measure your twitter growth over time, and by having something to benchmark it with it definitely lends itself toward becoming a little more competitive with yourself or other users. It also provides you with a great little widget that you can show on your blog and display the current number of followers you have. You can see mine to the right of my “Follow us on Twitter” graphic. If you then click on it, you’ll be taken to my stats page where you can see my growth as well as ranking in the Twitterverse!

Klout

This is a great tool for measuring the effectiveness of key performance metrics like true reach, audience engagement, and amplification probability. Basically you receive a score between 1 and 100, with the higher scores reflecting individuals with a larger sphere of influence on Twitter.

These are just a handful of tools that can help you to take both your Twitter account, as well as your blog to new levels. The more people you connect with personally, the more likely you are to see an increase in the level of traffic you receive from Twitter.

Beneficial Banners

advertising

Advertising on your blog can be a lucrative income stream when developed properly, and once you’ve established a certain amount of traffic you can choose to sell advertising to marketers and small businesses, or promote your own affiliate products that you feel tie in nicely with the theme of your blog.

Now a big concern with bloggers and the visitors who frequent those blogs is the quantity of banners that end up flashing away on your pages. There are a majority who feel you should write day in and day out providing them with valuable content that furthers their education, but if you add in banners, or advertising and try and make any money then you’ve gone over to the dark side of blogging and shouldn’t be trusted.

Personally I disagree with the concept and feel that a blog owner should not only be paid for his time, but that advertising when done right is just one more service for the visitor. Let’s use my blog as an example here. I have a total of fourteen advertising spots throughout my blog, and if you take a look at those 14 spots you’ll find that no less than seven reflect programs or services that I use on a daily basis and would  attribute a large part of my success to.

The seven I’m talking about are:

1.       Tweet Attacks – I use this program daily, and have for over a year now to manage my Twitter account and maximize the traffic I can pull from Twitter. This one program is responsible for between 500 and 1000 of my monthly visitors, and as such indispensible to me.

2.       Hostgator – As my website and traffic have grown I’ve gone from a shared hosting account to a reseller and into a VPS (virtual Private Server) in order to ensure the site is up when you guys show up for a visit. Reliable hosting is worth its weight in gold, and can mean the difference between lost sales and reputation, or stability and reliability.

3.       Aweber – Now I’ve written plenty on the value of having your own list, and this is another service I feel every marketer, and small business should have. Your list is not only a source of income, but also a source of traffic.

4.       Market SamuraiKeyword research is crucial to the success of a blog, and unless you enjoy paying for traffic one you should probably learn. I recently met an internet marketer who did nothing but pay for traffic to his site which was receiving anywhere from 100 to 250 visitors a day and costing him between $200.00 a month and $500.00 a month. Thanks to keyword research my blog receives between 1000 and 2000 visitors a day, and cost me the price of the software once, and the time to learn and implement some search engine optimization tweaks.

5.       IBP or Internet Business Promoter is another SEO tool that I personally used to get my site ranked for one of the hardest keywords out there “Internet Marketing” earning myself a page one listing that drives visitors to my site each and every day.

6.       Twiends – This is a service that helps you grow you’re social network and since many of you are trying to grow either a Fan page, or Twitter account this is the service that can help. If you’ve ever started a Fan page and struggled to get those first 25 fans in order to set the vanity URL, you’ll be able to appreciate a free (or paid) service that allows you to get 25 fans with little trouble whatsoever.

7.       The Secret Classroom – Now I don’t use this one daily but I do go back often enough, and I have to say that after buying the course for $50 and watching just one of the 12 speakers for almost 2 hours I already felt I’d gotten more than my money’s worth. My hats off To Joel Comm for putting this one together, I know it taught me a lot!

The rest of the spots are either my own courses or programs or others that I use and appreciate and that have taught me some of the skills that I then use to my advantage. The internet is filled with hype and overpriced programs and services that fail to deliver. Having the recommendation for one’s that actually work and provide value definitely falls into the “beneficial to the reader” category!

So next time you visit a blog and complain about the banners take a minute to consider if perhaps those products or services could possibly be an asset that could help take your own blog to the next level.

Tweet Attacks Reviewed

Tweet Attacks Review

I thought I’d review a piece of software that I’ve been using for several months now, and share it with my readers since many of you are also either on Twitter to protect, and promote your brand, or would like to use Twitter as more of a marketing tool, and help drive more sales, or visitors to your website.

I’m going to go over a few of the tasks that we’re all challenged with and explain how Tweet Attacks can help with those challenges, and help you get the most out of Twitter.

Scheduled Tweets:
It’s important to be active on Twitter in order to keep the interest of those that are following you, as well as to provide them with a certain amount of value for choosing to follow you as well. Now I’m not sure what your current level of participation on Twitter is, but I can assure you that you are probably missing a large portion of your Twitter audience due to the fact that we all live in different time zones, and have different work schedules.

Scheduling your tweets so that you can be tweeting throughout the times when you’re not able to physically be at the computer is a great way to promote your brand, drive visitors and sales, as well as to be more active in the Twitter community. And it’s a simple matter of responding to followers when you’re next online, or at the computer.

Try typing up some tweets that your followers might find useful, and of some benefit in their lives. This could be anything at all that you can think of, a mechanic could offer up tips to help keep your car running smoothly, or offer up advice on where the cheapest gas can be found in town, an SEO expert could offer up tips on driving traffic to people’s websites, and improving their search engine rankings, the sky is literally the limit here, and you are held back only by your imagination. (And the 140 character limit in Twitter)

Tweet Attacks allows you to load text files into it, and schedule your tweets to go out at either predetermined times and dates, or simply schedule them to go out every 15 to 30 minutes or whatever duration you decide is best for your audience. This way, you’re tweeting around the clock, and driving traffic to your site, even when your time zone is sleeping!

Managing Followers:
One of the challenges we all face is the management of our followers, trying to protect those that are following us, when we clean house as well as hanging on to those special tweeps we follow regardless of whether or not they follow us back because they offer information that is just that valuable. Tweet Attacks keeps a copy of your VIP’s so that they don’t accidentally get unknowingly unfollowed. It will also allow you to follow selected people, or their followers, or even setup a schedule to follow so that it does it all for you automatically.

Wait and Reply:
If you’ve ever tweeted about a subject only to have someone not following you reply to you with a message on the same subject you’ve probably seen this feature in action. As a marketer, this one could hold value, because it allows you to monitor the Twitter Stream, for certain topics and then respond accordingly. Imagine having purple widgets for sale, and being able to send a reply whenever someone tweets “I wish I had a purple widget!” Ok, that one may have been made up, but you get the picture. It allows you to reply to anyone, anywhere on Twitter who Tweets the phrase you’re watching for, with the response of your choosing, regardless of whether you’re on the computer or not.

These are just a few of the features you can find within Tweet Attacks, and I can personally tell you it’s an amazing piece of software that I can’t imagine not having at my disposal. If you’d like to know more about it, please visit their website at www.tweetattacks.com

Twitter Followers and Scheduled Tweets

Twitter Followers and Scheduled TweetsIf you’ve been involved in internet marketing for more than five minutes you’ve no doubt heard about businesses and individuals marketing on Twitter.  If you take into account the sheer number of people using this social media platform on a daily basis (Twitter now has 106 million users sending out 55 million tweets every day) you’ll soon see why it’s something that no internet marketer should ignore for very long.

Having a large number of followers on Twitter serves a few different yet equally important tasks for us as Internet Marketers. Feel free to add us on Twitter if you like, if you notice we haven’t followed back, it was in error, and simply send me a msg, and I’ll be glad to follow you back. www.twitter.com/plrnetmarketing

One, the most obvious advantage to having a huge list of followers is more followers equals more potential customers or clients for our website or business and in turn more sales.

Two, more followers mean a larger knowledge base with which to grow our business from. For example, my Twitter account is made up of hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in the Internet Marketing industry, how can I possibly make money from internet marketers? (A tough group to sell to) Well, maybe I can’t sell as often to them, but I can certainly share knowledge with them, I learn little bits and pieces from each of my followers, just like they do from me. I then in turn pass that knowledge and information along to my readers and followers which results in an indirect benefit to my bottom line.

Three, a large number of followers will be seen by many as a good indicator of social proof. Social proof is important in that if someone goes to a website and see’s the site has no comments, 142 follower, 34 feed burner readers, they are going to assume it’s pretty much a dead site. On the other hand, if they see there are thousands of followers, hundreds, or thousands of readers and so on, they will be more inclined to invest the time to check out the site giving it the attention it deserves. If you took two websites of equal value, site a. has 25 followers, and site b. has 20,000 followers, your subconscious will tell you the one with the bigger number is more popular, and hence more valuable. (Not true, these were equal blogs, remember… but it will often be perceived that way)

So what can we do help us market, and make more money on Twitter? Thought you’d never ask!
I’ve broken it down into two sections, the fist generating more followers, and the second covering scheduled tweets.

Getting Followers:

  1. The most widely used method for getting someone to follow you, is to simply follow them first in the hopes that they will see you as someone of value, and follow you back. This can be done manually (not recommended) or using software, or websites for the purpose I recommend Tweet Attacks (paid) or www.refollow.com (free)
  2. Make sure to include a follow me icon somewhere visible on your website or blog. I’ve placed mine beside my twitter counter, so that people can see they aren’t the first one’s to follow me. (Social Proof)
  3. As an Internet Marketer, I’m assuming you have a subscriber list. Include a follow me icon or link at the bottom of your emails.
  4. Personal correspondence is also a great way to let your friends, family, and colleagues know where to find you on Twitter. The idea is to make it as accessible as possible for people to find you.
  5. Other social media sites. PLR Internet Marketing has a facebook fan page that also has a direct link to our Twitter account, showing our tweets, followers, etc. as well as a place to start following us.
  6. Hold a contest in order to grow your list, perhaps your business offers a product or a service that you could use as an incentive for people to follow you. Be creative, there are any number of ways to entice people to follow you on Twitter!

Scheduled Tweets:

Capitalize on your “Tweet” real estate; this is a very important step that many overlook. Schedule your tweets…not all of them, but your business tweets for sure! For example, I’ve gone to the trouble to write out over 700 tweets that go out from my account every 4 to 10 minutes. I’ve broken my tweets into four different types.

  1. The first tweet that goes out from my account is a random quote. I love motivational quotes, and it turns out many others do as well; these are often retweeted dozens of times per day giving me and my business even more exposure to newer and wider audiences.
  2. Second tweet I send out is a link to one of my blog posts, of which I have over 200. That means I can tweet about 200 articles on the different topics I cover here on my blog, and that my followers if interested can click through to read, and then become potential clients or customers. These also get retweeted quite often, as they have value to my followers, followers!
  3. The third tweet I send out will be an SEO tip that I’ve written (and condensed to 140 characters) in order to provide value to my followers throughout the day. I’m constantly getting commended, and thanked for these, as they help my followers and usually lead to further discussion on what other webmasters are doing, or should be doing with their own sites.
  4. My fourth tweet is my “money tweet”; it’s usually an affiliate link promoting a product or service that my site recommends in exchange for a percentage of the sale. For instance I’ve been using Hostgator as a reseller, and affiliate, and I’ve been happy with them for years, so have no problem recommending them to my followers. If my followers are in the market for hosting, they can click on the link, and if they sign up for the service I get paid by the company for recommending a new customer to them.

For those interested in the software I use to manage these two daily tasks on Twitter, I’m using Tweet Attacks, the software is amazing, and paid for itself within just a few weeks.
