Traffic Generation Day Three – Socials Networks

Traffic Generation Day Three - Socials Networks

Ok, so how did the last couple of days go for you? Did you get a guest post done and send an email to your subscribers?

Hopefully you did but if not then you have some work to make up. Just to recap where we are right now, I showed you how to build backlinks to rank higher in the search engines. I told you why you should use email marketing and guest posts to help get more traffic and today I am going to talk about 2 traffic generation methods that are actually really fun. When most people think about getting traffic, they think it is a lot of work when in reality, it is not.

So what are the fun traffic generation methods that I am talking about? The two methods are social networking and social bookmarking. Both of these methods will get you more traffic and they are very easy to use.

Social Networking

Social networking is sites like Facebook and Twitter. There are more social networking sites but in my experience these are the only 2 that you really need. With social networking you are given a platform to actually communicate or network with other people and that is how you get more traffic.

Facebook

I am sure you have used Facebook by now, right? Facebook is great for social networking and the reason is because there are almost a billion people that use it. With Facebook all you need to do is establish yourself or your website and then interact with your following. Most people think that it is tough to get traffic from Facebook but it really isn’t. Being that most people that use Facebook are there for fun, they will click on almost anything.

If you want to get the most traffic with Facebook all you need to do is get more fans or friends. The reason I say this is because people will click on what their friends or fans post and because of that it is very easy to get traffic.

Twitter

Using Twitter is a great way to get more traffic and the reason is because it is so easy to get followers. With Twitter you need more people to follow you in order to get more traffic and exposure and because of the fact that most people will follow people that follow them, Twitter is very easy to manipulate. Think about it, all you have to do is follow more people in order to get more followers. How simple does that sound?

Since most people know about Facebook and Twitter, I am not going to spend a lot of time talking about them. What you need to understand is that social networking and social bookmarking don’t take a lot of work to get traffic from. Trust me, if you want to get traffic from either one you just need to be consistent.

Social Bookmarking

Since there is not a lot that you need to know about social bookmarking I will not spend a lot of time with it but I will give you a couple tips that you should always remember. What most people don’t realize is that social bookmarking is done more by your readers than by you. The reason for this is because there are a lot of social networks and you probably just don’t have the time to bookmark every single page or blog post that you create.

Digg

Digg is a very easy social bookmarking site to use. The best way to get more traffic via Digg is to simply add more friends to your friends list. The reason you do this is because most people that you add as a friend will add you right back and the reason you need friends is because every time you submit a URL all your friends will see it.

Stumbleupon

Stumbleupon is a site that many people know about but don’t use. Stumbleupon probably gets the most traffic out of all the social bookmarking sites and the reason is because it is one of the biggest and oldest bookmarking sites on the internet. If you have a website then what I highly recommend is that you add bookmarking buttons to your site. The reason you do this is because like I said before, your readers will do more regarding social bookmarking than you will do yourself.

Now, for today and tomorrow I want you to get on Facebook and Twitter and start to be more active. Not only that but go and get more fans and followers. And as far as social bookmarking is concerned, you need to ask people to Stumble or Digg your articles so that other people can see them too.

That is all for today but remember that there are still 2 more emails you will be getting to complete my traffic generation techniques. Just be watching for the next email because this is one traffic generation technique that I really love.

How I Plan On Increasing Blog Traffic

How I Plan On Increasing Blog Traffic

We all know that the amount of traffic you get to your blog has a lot to do with how well you promote and optimize it. That is why I am going to spend some time using something I strongly believe in called Buildmyrank.

If you have not heard about this before, then I am glad you are hearing about it now. With the recent guest post I got from Adam Snyder, I thought I would elaborate on that a little bit and show you what I would do to build more backlinks to my website.

If you didn’t read the article make sure you do that now so that you understand what I am talking about. Here is the article – Low Hanging Keywords Should Be Your Friend

In the article he states that you need to build backlinks to long tail keywords that you are already ranking for and that is exactly what I plan on doing. Although he gave some great ways to get backlinks, I just don’t have that kind of time with everything that I have going on right now. This is why I plan on using Buildmyrank to increase my link count and ultimately increase my blog traffic.

Now, there are a lot of ways I could go about creating articles and building links but I have a method to my madness. The first thing that I did was found out what long tail keywords I am ranking for. Once I did that I then wrote all the keywords in a spreadsheet so that I didn’t forget any of them. This is important because every keyword should get a backlink if you want to really take advantage of your long tail traffic.

Important – The next thing that I did was to input the keywords into the Google Keyword Tool so that I could see how many people search for each keyword per month. This is very important because you want to start off by targeting the keywords that get more traffic. The reason I say this is because this will increase your traffic much faster and also your income.

That brings me to where I am at now. What I will be doing is writing 10 150 word articles each day until I have 50 articles. The reason I doing this is so that I don’t waste any time with the monthly membership. Although this is only $59 a month I wanted to make sure I got as many links as I possibly can and that is why I am writing the articles prior to even getting the membership. Although I do plan on using this for more than one month, I wanted to get off to a great start.

As you can see, I am not going to build backlinks to my websites inner pages using web 2.0 properties or guest posts like Adam stated in his guest post,  I am going to use the much faster and higher ranking Buildmyrank to do this.

So if you were thinking about targeting your long tail keywords, then I strongly suggest that you use Buildmyrank to do so. Although guest posts and web 2.0 links are great, they do take a little longer and that is why I am going to do things this way.

One other thing that I want to make sure you understand is that it is never a good idea to build too many links too fast. What I highly recommend is that you don’t submit more than 20 links per day because too many high page ranked links can raise a red flag in Google’s eyes.

Starting tomorrow I’m going to be doing a mini-series on traffic generation techniques so that you can increase the quantity of visitors you’re currently receiving on your site.

See you tomorrow!

Get Your Readers To Comment On Your Posts

Get Your Readers To Comment On Your Posts

Do you know the difference between a successful blog and an unsuccessful one? The main difference is that successful blogs get a lot of comments and that is why you should be after that more so than traffic.

The toughest thing that you can do as a blogger is to get your readers to do something and if it were easy, then you would probably spend more time getting your readers to buy things through an affiliate link, right? Even though getting comment is a little harder than most people think, it still needs to worked on because in the end the comments will help you rank higher on the search engines.

There are a lot of things that you can do to get your readers to comment on your posts such as ask your readers to, provide a gift to the top commentator throughout each month and even give revenue sharing to the top commentator as well. Even though these are things that I have been seeing more of lately, there are other methods that work just as well and some even better.

Ways To Get More Comments

Make Commenting Easy

The first thing that you can do to get more comments on your blog post is to simply make commenting easier. A lot of people think that their comment platform is pretty easy but a lot of the times they are not. What I would highly recommend is that you leave a comment on your blog every once in a while to see how easy it is to do and if you are having trouble with it, then just know that your readers are probably having the same problems.

Email Your Subscribers

Do you ever send emails to your subscribers telling them that you have posted a new article? This is what a lot of bloggers do and the benefit of doing this is that your readers will start to thank you for sending them the email with a blog comment.

Another great thing about sending out an email to your subscribers is that they will be more likely to write a blog comment. Just because you write a great blog post doesn’t mean you will get a lot of new comments but as long as you are promoting your post to the people you know then the chances of you getting more comments will be higher.

Link To Commentators Blog

Do you use plugins like Commentluv or Keywordluv? These are two plugins that many people with websites love and the reason is because they will link back to the commentators blog. The nice thing about these plugins is that they will get you more comments really fast but they will also get you a lot more spam. Just be prepared for this because when bloggers see a new place to get a link, they will jump on it.

Utilize Guest Posts

This is by far my favorite way to get more comments on by blog post. The best part about a guest post in my opinion is the last paragraph where you can leave some links back to your blog and what I highly recommend is that you place a link to your homepage and another link to the last blog post you write. If you can do this with every post that you do, then you should have no problem getting your site ranked as well as every article that you write. Trust me, guest posts are great when it comes to getting more comments on your blog and the reason is because somebody who clicks on through to your blog has a higher likelihood of leaving a comment.

Give Thanks For Comments

If you have ever seen the Smartpassiveincome.com blog or Nichepursuits.com, then you know that Pat and Spencer are always thanking people for leaving a comment on their blog. I am not saying that you need to thank people who are just there to say, “Good job”, but you need to recognize your readers who leave you worthwhile comments. This is something that more and more bloggers do (I even do this) and it is because the blog owner should be thankful that somebody read their article and liked it enough to actually spend the time leaving a comment.

Getting more comments on your blog posts may seem like a tough task but as long as you do the things above, you should have no problem getting more comments time and time again. Just make sure that you don’t focus only on comments and not the content because the best way to get more comments is to write the best content possible.

Importance of Subscribe Section in Your Blog

Importance of Subscribe Section in Your Blog

In the world where there are millions of bloggers, it is essential to learn how to make your blog stand out from the rest. Truth being said, it is almost impossible to be spotted by your future readers unless you have something that will grab their attention. There are different tips and some tricks on how to make your blog the best it can be, but the majority of bloggers insist that their content attracts readers, not gimmicks of any kind.

Is It All About The Content?

Most people would answer positively to this question without thinking about it too much. They would be right, but not completely right. The truth is that your content is what makes your blog valuable to the readers, but this isn’t the only thing that you should focus your attention to. Namely, even the greatest writers with one-of-a-kind ideas are not likely to achieve great success if they have nothing but a great content. The idea of blogging is to attract readers, and if you want to do so, you need to make them want to read your blog posts. How do you do that? Well, you need to make a great design for your blog, and only then will you get a chance to become noticed.

It Is the Design of the Entire Blog Actually

When it comes to blogs, people tend to pay great attention to design. This means that blog posts with lots of colors, useful widgets and on the top of it all, lots of creativity will be more visited that the blogs that are ordinary and plain, and some would say even boring. So invest some time into designing your blog the best way you can.

Subscribe Section – How Important Is It?

If you are just starting your blog, it is vital that you make the subscribe section a part of it. If you, on the other hand, already have a blog of your own, but haven’t included this section in it – do this immediately. Making it possible for the visitors to your blog to subscribe to it is very important for you if you want to generate traffic. By having a subscribe button on your blog you give a visitors a reason to return to your blog, in case they find something interesting there. From here the equation is simple – the more visitors to your blog, the more money you earn.

Make It Simple

From the aforementioned it is easy to conclude that the subscribe section should definitely be made part of your blog. However, there is the question of how this should be done, because it is not all about giving your visitors the option to subscribe, but you should also make them want to do that. The best idea is to make subscription to your blog as simple as it can possibly be. If you make this task hard most visitors will give up instantly on subscribing to your blog. In addition to this, a lot of people who own a blog give away free stuff to their future subscribers such as free e-books. So, keep it simple and try to award your subscribers with quality content, and if possible give them a gift occasionally.

Long Tail Keywords and SEO: What’s the catch?

Long Tail Keywords and SEO: What’s the catch?

It is sensational to deal with keywords which generate more than 1000 searches per day or even more than that. But in reality these keywords constitute very little amount of the total searches made. The catch lies in the long tail keywords that constitute about the rest 70% of the search market. This tail consist of thousands unique searches that are performed every day, seasonal months or may be once in the week but when stressed in aggregate they form the queue for generating significant information through search engines.

1. Long tail keywords form an essential part of SEO; it is extensively used by internet marketers to optimize websites, they are formed from two or more words that are feed in the search engine. If included in ordered way your site features for one or two words in the tail.

2. The competition for long tail keywords is considered to be low as they generate very less traffic and most internet marketers concentrate on high traffic generating keywords. You can use few long tail keywords in the content of the site to build a foundation for better traffic.

3. Among the various taints of capturing traffic through the long tail, is creating compatible content that could target relevant audience. Start by sorting and preparing a list of important keywords from Google Adwords keywords tool, targeting your website niche. Use these keywords in the content, title, Meta keywords and URL. Probability of getting a search for a long tail phrase is greatly increased if you have included long tail phrase or at least the words used to form that tail.

4. Make sure the content is catchy and informative as you include the long tail keywords, to get optimum results from search engines. User generated content (UGC) can be a great way to obtain keywords that will help attract long tail keywords. UGC comprises of forums, reviews, blog comments and to such extend Videos or images. A user does all the hard work of posting the content that may contribute to the long tail. Still you need to moderate them to make sure they are free of spam.

5. One aspect of long tail keywords is their fluctuation; some keywords are searched in heavy numbers during certain time of the year. Like during Christmas or Valentine day. Since search engines take considerable amount of time to rank the sites you would want to start advance preparation for these seasonal keywords. A long-term SEO approach would benefit as a part of the strategy.

Keyword research is a complex and time consuming topic, but the rewards are high. Once you learn where the keyword search volume is, you can begin to think about how that affects the information structure of your site. Taking these two aspects into consideration, try building your content to optimize for SEO.

Is content alone enough to get your site ranking shoot up?

Is content alone enough to get your site ranking shoot up

You must have heard thousand times that content is king in search engine optimization. But is it truly that important? And even if content is important, how far articles and words can push your page ranking up in search result pages.

First of all, we must face that SEO marketers can do almost nothing without content. But we don’t also deny that simple bulk-generated articles with vanilla words won’t take you anywhere. Let’s face it. All major search engines – Google, Yahoo and Bing – are assigning more weight to contents, which carry value for target audiences. If you are eager to know how a compelling content should in post-panda search engine optimization follow this article.

1. To begin with, cut down on bulk small size articles. Search engines are giving less importance to these articles. In fact, as a site owner or webmaster, we also realize that it is not always easy to make justice to topics within 500 words. According to Gorank.com, right now average page size of any Google search result stands at 943 words. The same stands at 1305 words for Yahoo search results. So, you must go for 750 words onwards articles. If budget limits, opt for less number of article but never compromise on quality.

2. Search engines can’t do away with keywords. But too much, of keywords, is not desirable. In fact, in post-panda world, Google assumes even 2% keyword density as spamming. Isn’t it a fix? However, there is a way-out. You can bypass direct keywords with synonymous keywords without distorting idea of your article. Search engines love this.

3. Search engines like authority sites. It is an open secret. But for you it won’t be easy to earn authority tag from search giants. This is even tougher for competitive keywords. We thought to have a solution.

Don’t start with industry standard keywords. Do some research and find out specific keywords. Try to make them as specific as possible. It is true that they won’t bring in heavy traffic. But if you manage to deliver top-quality articles then visitors would share them on social networks. This will earn your site authority status for those keywords and topics. And once you have authority tag for lesser known and specific keywords, no body stops you venturing into more popular keywords.

4. We often mean written articles only when talk about SEO content. But content can be information in any form – images, video, graphics, charts or audio narration. As an internet marketer, you cannot avoid them. Complement your articles with charts, images, videos and other informative pieces. Your content will be more crispy and user friendly. Besides, search engines also prefer good mix of written words along with other visual, graphical and narrative pieces.

The take away from this article is, value added SEO content never misses the bull’s eye. Understand what search engines are asking for and adjust the content style accordingly without any compromise on value.

Reasons Why You Keep Losing Twitter Followers

Reasons Why You Keep Losing Twitter Followers

Are you tired of losing more and more Twitter followers every day? You don’t have to lose them but it will require you to change what you are doing. What most people don’t realize is the reason they are losing Twitter followers is because they are the ones doing something wrong. I know you don’t want to believe it but this is a common thing that Twitter users do and unless you figure out what you are doing wrong you will keep losing the followers that you have.

Reasons You Are Losing Followers

Too Many Tweets

How many Tweets to you do every day? Are you doing too many that your followers are getting tired of seeing your updates? A lot of people Tweet too many times but if you are Tweeting things that people like, then keep doing it. Just know that some people would prefer to see fewer Tweets so make sure you figure out what your followers like the most.

Repeat Following

Do you follow and then unfollow a lot of people on a daily basis? It might be a bad idea to follow hundreds of people in a single day and that is why a lot of people will stop following you. Although this is a great way to get more followers, your actual followers might not like it. Just know that it would be better to get your followers the right way as opposed to using the system to get as many followers as you can.

No Profile

Do you have a profile on your Twitter account? If you are not using your profile to actually say what you talk about, then people will start to unfollow you. The problem that I see quite a bit is that Twitter users will add a profile that doesn’t even represent what they will be Tweeting. Just do yourself and your followers a favor and create a Twitter profile that shows what you will be Tweeting.

Affiliate Links

How many affiliate links do you post on your Twitter account? Do you add an affiliate link every few hours or do you place affiliate links every week or so? The amount of affiliate links that you Tweet will make a huge difference in the amount of people that follow you. My advice is to make sure that you are using affiliate links sparingly because this is one of the worst things that you can use in a Tweet.

Constant Replies

Are you constantly replying to Tweets other people do? Do you use hashtags whenever possible? These might be the reason for you losing your Twitter followers. The problem with putting @XXXX in your Tweet is that most people won’t know what you are talking about, this goes for hashtags too. If you want to keep the following that you have, then you need to use replies and hashtags sparingly. Trust me on this one, this is a common reason people will unfollow you. I know this for a fact because this is one of the reasons I will unfollow people as well. Most people don’t like to see a bunch of gibberish so make sure that whatever you are writing will make sense to everybody that is reading it.

Being that Twitter is a great way to get more traffic to your website you need to use it but make sure you are aware of what you are doing. I know that there is a lot of stuff that you are worried about right now but Twitter should not be one of them.

Get Visitors To Your Old Posts

Get Visitors To Your Old Posts
How many blog posts do you have on your site? If you have hundreds of posts like I do, then you are not getting visitors to all of those posts and this is a real shame. If you find it tough to get visitors to your old posts, then don’t worry because I have a few tricks to get more visitors to your posts without actually building backlinks to them and pushing them up the search engines.

Should you build backlinks to old posts? Yes, this would be the ideal thing to do but if you don’t have the time then there are other things that will work just as well. My advice would be to use BuildMyRank to do this because all you have to do is write a few short articles and then add a link to an older post. Anyway, lets get started with how you can get visitors to your old blog posts.

Repost Your Most Popular Posts

Do you have certain posts that continue to get more and more traffic each month? This is common with a lot of blogs because every once in a while you will write something called a “Pillar post” and these always work to get more backlinks which in turn get more traffic. Am I saying that you need to write more pillar posts? Well, you can but this is something that most people are not capable of doing because these posts require a lot of time and expertise in a lot of fields.

The great thing about reposting your most popular posts is that you can use this time to update that post and add anything new that may not be in it. A lot of bloggers don’t realize that they can do this but if you have a post that people like, then you know they won’t mind getting more out of it sometime in the future. Just make it known that you are reposting an article and there is more content inside because sometimes readers will click off your site the second they see a post they have already read.

Note: If you repost an article make sure you don’t change the URL of it or else you will lose all the links to that older article and the traffic might not be there anymore.

Use Related Post Plugins

There are a lot of related posts plugins that you can use with WordPress so why not use them. This is something that many people do but often times they are not using the plugin the right way. If you are going to be using related post plugins, then you need to make sure that it stands out. I know you may not know much about html or coding and if that is the case, then find somebody that does. Trust me, using a related post plugin that stands out will really make it worth your while.

Share Your Old Posts

Do you have a Facebook or Twitter account? If you don’t, then it is about time that you get them both. If you do have a Facebook and Twitter account, then I would recommend sharing some of your older posts every once in a while. If you are follow PLRInternetMarketing.com on Twitter, then you know I already do this and that is why I get a lot of traffic to some of my older posts. Just know that the more posts you have the more links you will be able to share.

Do you have an email list? If you have a decent sized email list, then maybe they want to see what you have to offer them. A lot of times the people that read your posts are the people that are on your email list so send them an email filled with some of your most visited blog posts of the past few months. I know this might seem weird but it really does work.

Top Ten Posts

Have you ever created or seen a top ten post? These are simply posts that compile a list of the top ten best posts of the month, year or whatever you decide. Sometimes these posts will be the top ten posts of a certain category. What you need to understand is that all that matters in this post is that you will get people to click through to some of your older posts. Being that this is not the type of post that you can create all the time, you should create a plan in order to do it.

There are a lot of things that you can do to get more visitors to your old post but the key is to stick to it. A lot of bloggers will say that they are going to do more to get traffic to their older posts but then they don’t do it. If you are going to try and get more traffic to your posts, then create a plan and see it through.

One other thing that I want to leave you with that isn’t a secret or anything is to just interlink to your older posts in your new articles. This is something that a lot of A-list bloggers do really well and if you can take a page out of their book, then I would recommend this to be it.

Tracking Your Link Building Efforts

Tracking Your Link Building Efforts

Google is by and large the best source of free traffic available on the web today, and in order to take full advantage of that traffic we have to pay attention to certain SEO (Search Engine Optimization) aspects which include link building. Generally speaking, the more links, and the more powerful they are, the better the rankings you can expect in the search engines.

Building links usually gets outsourced to SEO “experts” because website and blog owners think there is some secret aspect to the whole process, but truth be told there are plenty of high ranking sites out there that are being run by people just like you. They say “practice makes perfect” and with the repetitive nature of link building you’ll soon be an “expert” yourself.

When building links to your site it’s important to remember that your site is made up of inner pages as well as a homepage. Link generously to all your pages and then interlink within your site to take full advantage of the SEO benefits that come with those links.

Link diversity is something that pertains to building an assortment of links rather than focusing the majority of your time on one you might find “easy” or “comfortable”. Many people get in the habit of only using commenting as a means of getting links and totally miss out on the numerous other methods out there.

Here are a few of the links you can look at using in your own link building campaigns:

  • Blog Commenting – Also a great way to get to know other bloggers in your niche.
  • Forum posting – Most forums will allow you a signature that can include a link back to your website or blog, the more you post on those forums the more links you are effectively building from that particular site.
  • Guest Posts – This is definitely one of the best ways to get a link from many of the higher profile sites in your industry. When you consider that companies are paying anywhere from $25.00 to $75.00 or more a month for a simple text link within a blog post you truly start to see the value here.
  • Social Bookmarking – Generally these links aren’t as valuable as some others, but they are relatively easy to obtain, and adding them to your link portfolio is always a good choice.
  • Directories – Now there are premium directories like Yahoo, DMOZ, Eaton, BOTW that carry a decent amount of SEO benefit all on their own, but there are also free and low quality ones that require literally thousands to be of any use to you at all. I’d suggest investing in at least two of the premium ones, and as many of the others as you’ve got the patience to build. (Tip: RoboForm will fill out the fields on directory sites making your job a lot easier)
  • Link Exchanges – This is when blogger A links to blogger B, and blogger B reciprocates. Generally you’ll be able to choose the keyword and anchor text to be used which goes a lot further than a link using just your name, or domain name.
  • Paid Links – This is where you pay for the link on a site (usually on a monthly or annual basis). These links are against Google’s TOS (terms of service) and can get you penalized if someone reports you, or if you’re found out some other way. I’d recommend staying away from these.
  • Web 2.0 Properties are a great place to expand your reach while at the same time getting a link that can then be improved (by building links to the property itself). Squidoo, Hubpages, and Blogger are just a few of the literally hundreds that are available to use freely.

Now there are many more links a person can get such as software download sites (create, or have a piece of handy software designed and then upload it to the hundreds of high ranking software sites that are online. Images, Video’s, eBooks and more can all be used to generate links to your website. The only limits are your imagination and creativity.

All this link building effort should be tracked so that you can see at a glance where and how your links are being placed as well as the effect they are having on your site’s rankings. A few things you might want to keep track of are:

  • Date – this is the date the link went live, you can also note dates you checked to see if the link was still in place. (You’d probably only do this for your top 100 most valuable links)
  • URL – Location or website the link is on.
  • Contact or email of the person or site owner responsible for placing the link.
  • Anchor text used to link back to you.
  • PageRank, or authority of the domain, or individual page. (A good trick is to build links to these links in order to increase their PageRank. Most website owners will also be improving their sites which will eventually trickle down to the individual articles themselves so over time all your links could become much more valuable and powerful.
  • Where the link is pointing on your site. (Homepage, individual post, etc.)
  • Notes Section – As you notice increases in keyword rankings or PageRank you can jot them down here.

There might be other aspects you’d like to track and there are no hard and fast rules, but the simple act of tracking your links serves to act as a performance document and tracking sheet. It also tends to lend itself toward motivation, because most of us like to see measurable results increasing over time as a direct result of our efforts. And last it also serves to legitimize your blog, or business. Inventory lists, operations manuals, sales tracking sheets, etc. all show that an individual is taking his or her blog seriously.
