Creating a Minisite

mini site

The word “minisite” can refer to a number of different things.  Some people call small niche article sites minisites, but that isn’t the general use of the word.  In Internet marketing, the word “minisite” is generally used to refer to very small websites that are set up to sell a product – usually an eBook or other digital download.

Most minisites are only 1-5 pages.  Some of them are only a single sales pitch page, plus perhaps a thank you page for after the customer orders.  Others have a contact page, a terms of service page, a frequently asked questions page, or other general pages.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we’ll just work on creating a single page minisite, and we’ll cover only the design – not the sales copy.  Most minisites have several key parts.  They usually have a header and footer, although some have only a header, or may have neither.

They also have a sales letter of some sort, which is used to sell the product.  Finally, they have an order button that is clicked when a customer wants to purchase the product.  Some minisites also have an eCover, which is a computer-generated image that mimics what the product might look like if it was a physical product.

For example, if the product is an eBook, the eCover might look like a hardcover or paperback book cover (sometimes a spiral notebook, too).  If the product is a membership site, the eCover might be a membership card.  Software products usually have a 3D software box as their eCover.

The first step in creating a minisite should be creating your eCover, if you intend to use one.  Most people create their eCovers with Photoshop, because most eCover action scripts only work with Photoshop.  If you don’t have Photoshop, you may need to create it from scratch, or have it made for you by a professional graphic designer.

After you have your cover design, you’ll need to create a header.  Although some marketers don’t use headers, most do.  A well-designed header can draw attention to your headline, and it can make your site look more professional.

The header should contain your product’s name and a tag line – like a one-sentence blurb that tells what your site’s about.  It should also contain a photo that’s related to your niche, and it might also contain a small version of your ecover – all tied into a theme for your demographic.

Let’s say you’re creating a minisite to sell your dog-training eBook.  Your header would potentially contain a picture of a woman pointing at a dog, and the dog sitting down.  Then the text on the header might say something like the following: Dog Training 101: The Ultimate Guide to Training Your Puppy or Adult Dog!

Don’t make your header too large.  If the header is so large visitors can’t see the headline without scrolling, it’s too big!  It should attract attention to the headline, not hide it.  Headers are generally between 700 and 800 pixels wide and 100-200 pixels in height.

The footer is usually the same width, but about half the height of the header.  It may only contain the product name or logo, but may also contain an image or copyright notice. Finally, you need an order button that draws a lot of attention.  Your button might contain your eCover, plus a brightly colored button and a call-to-action, such as “Click Here for Instant Access!”

If you have the money to invest, you might consider ordering a minisite package from a professional designer. For about $300, you’ll get the header, footer, eCovers, and sometimes extra banners that you can use for off-site promotions.

Fan Page Contest

At the beginning of the year I was sitting at about 5,500 fans on Facebook with my fan page www.facebook.com/plrinternetmarketing and had set my goal of reaching 6,000 by the end of January. Now that is a growth of about 16 fans a day, and I thought that was reasonable. But then I was surfing around and came across a website http://get10000fans.com it kind of got my competitive nature going, I thought “hey, if these guys are sitting at 10,000+ why the hell shouldn’t I be”? And so it began! My quest to hit 10,000 fans by the end of January!

All of a sudden my growth of 16 a day, we pushed to 145 a day, and considering the fact that I didn’t decide until January, 15th that number is closer to 282 a day which is no easy task. So I started brainstorming different ways that I could promote my fan page and encourage massive growth in such a short time. So I’m implementing the different ideas I’ve come up with, as well as reading what others have to say on the matter, and implementing them over the course of the last two weeks of January to see if I can not only hit the 10,000 mark, but blow it out of the water all together!

I started off by suggesting my page to 1300 friends that I have on my personal page in the hopes that some would join. This method actually didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped. I started out having 160 friends who had previously liked my page, and ended up with only 4 new additions to the page.

Next, I used the power of my Twitter account which has over 20,000 followers, and saw some decent growth, somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 so far, and I’m sure that number is still growing as I’ve scheduled tweets and DM’s to go out for the last two weeks of January.

Next I took advantage of a great resource that allowed me to grow by over 1000 fans in just a week’s time, which gave me my first glimmer of realization that I just might have a shot at hitting this new goal of mine. Check it out if you could use fans, followers, visits, or views! www.plrinternetmarketing.com/twiends

Now as I’m closing in on the 10,000 mark, and rather than lose all this momentum I’ve gained I thought I’d hold a contest to see how creative my readers can be, and to reward those who are able to help out. For everyone who is willing to suggest my fan page to their friends, followers, reader, or email list, I’m going to hold a contest. The prize is a free video course courtesy of www.fbmarketinguncovered.com it’s a Clickbank course that sells for $47.00 Since we are doing a Facebook contest, for a Facebook fan page, I thought it only fitting that we go with a Facebook Marketing course as the prize.

It’s open to any and all, and if you would like to use other methods of promotion that is also welcome, just drop me a note letting me know who you are, and what you did to promote the fan page, and I’ll put your name into the draw. For every twenty people who enter I will give away one prize, so your chances of winning are one in twenty. For anyone that is able to deliver a guaranteed 1000 fans, they will be considered an instant winner! But please, with that said; only ethical methods of promotions are of interest to me, as I like to encourage ethical internet marketing practices, and won’t reward the other kind.

To email me with your name and promotional method you can email me at contact @ PLRInternetmarketing.com

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Update: It is unclear if Facebook is taking out the “suggest to friends” feature at this time, so to enter a blog post about the contest will also suffice.

Thanks Team

Warren

Can I make Money Blogging?

make money blogging

It seems that no matter where you turn these days there is someone touting a new make money blogging product, and at the rate they are springing up you might be inclined to believe them. I thought I’d write today to share my thoughts on the subject, as well as discuss where I think it’s heading in the future.

Money is great! It helps keep the world moving on a perpetual basis. It promotes creativity and inspires us to try new things to earn more of it. We learn from a very young age the power of money, and what it can (and can’t) buy for us. We also learn that it goes out much easier than it comes in… or does it?

A young girl heads down to the local cell phone store, and within in just a few short minutes is able order her very own telephone number with which to chat and text with her fellow classmates and friends. She also effectively ensures that $50.00 will be deducted from her account for the next three years regularly, like clockwork.

What if you could walk into a store and have them send you $50.00 for the next three years?  Would you be interested in a store like that?

Blogging isn’t really a whole lot different than talking on a telephone, it is a form of communicating, however instead of talking to just one person, you are reaching out to a much larger audience. However unlike a cell phone where the more time you invest into talking on it, the higher your bill will become, with a blog, the more time you invest in it, the more people you will start to reach, and the more money you will make on an ongoing basis.

The first month of this blog’s life saw about 30 visitors a day that came in from my promotional efforts. The total visitor count for that period was 925 and yet I was able to earn $25.00 from Google’s AdSense, and an additional $25.00 from Clickbank for selling a product I had tried and written about. It was at this point that I decided I wanted to do this full time for a living. (I was working in management at a national company here in Canada at the time).

So to answer the title of this post, yes you can make money blogging. Quite easily in fact, however most of you will be like myself and want more. I mean why not, I blog about a topic I love so it is hardly like work, I wake up when I want, sleep when I want, and vacation when I want. (To be honest I still write while I’m vacationing, but I could easily write them ahead of time and schedule them to go out while I’m away if I wanted).

If it’s possible to make $50.00 the very first month, then surely it must be possible to grow that with constant care and attention. So what steps are required in order to grow that into something that you can live off, two thousand, three thousand, ten thousand dollars a month?

Persistence and consistency

If you are going to try and make money through blogging then you’ll have to commit to treating it like a business. You need to devote a portion of your time to it each day, researching and writing posts, finding offers to promote, dealing with guest bloggers, locating advertisers and so much more.  You will also spend a great deal of time promoting it, and driving traffic to it, as well as managing the social media aspect of it, Twitter, Facebook, Comments, etc.

If you truly want to make money blogging, then I’m here to tell you that you truly can do it!

Product Creation

Creating a product

The advent of internet marketing and online promotion and advertising has had a tremendous impact on the way businesses think when they create new products. When creating a new product, it is imperative that one keep in mind the way in which the product can be promoted online, as well as how well it can be marketed on the internet. There are a few things to consider when creating a new product as far as internet marketing is concerned, and here we’ll go over some of these aspects of product creation and online promotion.

Whether you run an e-business that sells intangible products or services, or a real world retail outlet that sells real world goods, considering the way internet marketing can impact the creation of a new product is key. The fact that the world of marketing and promotion is becoming increasingly driven by the world of electronic and online media means that being able to adapt a marketing scheme to take the internet into account is essential. In order to do this, you need to consider how your product can be implemented in an internet marketing campaign.

One tool that can be used in internet marketing campaigns, and one that can very effectively target certain demographics, is the social networking website. The fact that it can target particular groups of people makes it ideal for products that are, in turn, aimed at certain demographics. For example, suppose you are working on a particular product that you want to target at young male adults, ages 18-26. You can advertise this new product on social networking sites in a way where it will only appear to users who fit your target demographic. Suppose the product is a new video game. You can even specialize the marketing campaign on the social networking site in a way where when users create posts, status updates, or so on regarding video games, they are more likely to see the ad.

Internet marketing allows you to create highly specified and specialized advertising campaigns that are designed to target a particular audience, in the hopes that this audience will be significantly more interested in the product you have created. Viral marketing, which is a type of promotion that relies of users replicating the advertisements, is a unique type of internet marketing that can have a tremendous impact on your product, especially if the product itself is designed with the viral marketing possibilities in mind.

Search Engine Optimization – What is Search Engine Optimization?

WEB Traffic

If you want to direct more traffic to your web site, but are not sure how, you should be aware of a technique called search engine optimization. This technique is used by many popular sites to increase their flow of traffic. If you are not using this technique to make your site easier to find, other sites that do have a significant advantage over you. Unfortunately, you cannot direct traffic to your site in this manner instantly or without effort, as it involves a significant amount of planning and coordination. What follows should give you enough information to get started.

Any site will show up on a search engine on its own. However, exactly where it shows up is not guaranteed. Depending on how important a search engine thinks a web site is, it may show up in the number one spot on the first page, or the last spot on the tenth page. Every search engine has its own system for associating searched for words with web sites, and search engine optimization is the process of promoting a web site to the search engine, causing it to become ranked more highly. Naturally, this is very important, as a great deal of new visitors can come to a web site by clicking through a search engine.

Search engine optimization, or SEO as it is often called, works in many different ways. Often, it is possible to move a web page up in the results of searches simply by improving its code. However, it is also possible to move a web page up by linking to it, writing about it, and connecting relevant pages to it. Web marketing companies will do these things and combine them with other techniques in complex ways to move their clients’ sites as high on the list of results as possible.

Obviously, proper search engine optimization is an important part of marketing a website. With it, your site will attract large numbers of people who are already looking for content similar to yours, who are unlikely to click away immediately after arriving. However, without it, this is not the case. Other methods of promotion can increase your stats, but may not actually help you. While it is satisfying to see your site traffic rise, it is only useful if the numbers turn into increased sales or attention. Because of this, using SEO techniques on your website is extremely important.
