Branding Yourself as an Expert in Your Niche

Branding Yourself as an Expert in Your Niche

Regardless of what niche you’ve chosen, it’s important that you learn how to brand yourself online. Branding yourself in your niche can be as simple as creating a slogan or a tagline that allows others to easily recognize you. You want your ‘brand’ to be viewed as the top authority. You want to be the go to guru in your industry, so choose a brand wisely.

You can start by coming up with a few keywords that people already associate with your business. Look over what words are driving traffic to your site. Do visitors happen on your site after searching for words like ‘dog training’ or ‘caring for pets?’

If you don’t have sufficient website traffic to view the analytics yet, then try asking people familiar with your business what words they’d use to describe it. Once you’ve come up with words describing your online presence, look for an easy to remember tagline.

For instance, if you run a parenting website that also discusses frugal living, you could brand yourself as the frugal mom shopper. Once you’ve come up with a tagline that you like to describe yourself or your business, start sharing it with everyone.

Sign your blog posts with it. Use it on your website. Instead of having an about page, try having a page on your website ‘about the frugal mother.’ This provides you with one more way to brand yourself.

Add your slogan to your email and forum signatures. While you may have heard that no one likes a braggart, in the case of online marketing, it’s not only acceptable to brag about yourself, but it’s a way to rise to the top of your niche.

Businesses use this technique offline as well. For example, you’ve heard the phrase ‘Finger lickin’ good’ used by Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants. They wouldn’t say, ‘passably good chicken.’ Who’d want to eat there?

Brand yourself by building an audience that views you as a helpful resource and they’ll help spread the word about you, too. Word of mouth is very powerful in branding, so treat every prospect well.

If you’re pursuing article marketing, make sure that you add a short biography that mentions your slogan and your website. This biography should be the same for all of the articles so that visitors begin to recognize your name and associate you with your brand.

Brand yourself by guest authoring to an already established audience. Find a blog that’s similar to yours and offer to write a guest post. You can use one of your articles as a forum topic as well. Forums often rank high in Google because like blogs, they are continually updated. If you brand yourself as an expert, people will begin to think of you as one.

Back Online and Ready to Blog

Well as many of you may have noticed the blog posts have been a little sporadic for the last two weeks, and my interaction with many of you had dwindled to less than zero engagement in most online arenas where I’m usually present.

No I haven’t given up on Internet Marketing and am not throwing in the blogging towel so I can dig out my shirt and tie and get back to the corporate world, I’ve simply relocated to something bigger and better, and am finally getting settled in.

They say change is good, but it sure does come with some growing pains. I’ve left Calgary (most likely for good) and am living in a town so small they actually ran out of high speed internet ports! Can you believe that? Well, I’m back online (though at a fraction of my old 15mb/s download speeds) and settled and ready to roll once more!

Home ownership comes with a ton of responsibilities (extra costs) and as such I’m spending a bit of time doing things like fixing gates, setting up a theater room,  installing water storage tanks, and painting the shop when I should be blogging about things like the recent PageRank shakeup that took us all a little by surprise.

*PageRank is still alive and well, Google merely moved the server that provides the results to the toolbar applications that we use to pull them. Quite a bit has been written on the topic already so I’ll leave it in Google’s capable hands, but if you do need to know more head over to Google and read what some are saying: http://whatculture.com/technology/google-pagerank-is-not-dead.php

I’m looking forward to the year ahead and what it has to offer both me and my readers, and I’m sure we’ll accomplish some amazing online feats. For those who are yet to get started with an online business, I’d suggest downloading the bestselling eBook “E-Business; The Insider’s Edge” that covers an absolute ton of topics, and should get you started in the right direction!

Download Free Here.

For those who have questions after reading it, or even need help with something, feel free to drop me a line. I’m always here to help, and I’ve found helping others is a great way to meet some interesting people, and like they say “what comes around goes around”.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! (Columbus Day to my US friends!)

PS. I’m thankful for YOU, my readers!

Chasing Online Traffic And No Down Line to Show For It

Chasing Online Traffic And No Down Line to Show For It

As a network marketer who wants to build an online presence to grow your business, are you chasing traffic with no results, no matter what you have tried?

Buying another on line prospecting system or webinar or another ebook  about some social media attraction trick, and then adapting it to your network marketing business, with no results, did you expect this?

So far, is it any easier or more effective than simply building your business with traditional, offline, MLM marketing techniques? It doesn’t seem that the promise of online marketing matches the hype!

Results in network marketing, no matter how you market, means a strong and active down line that provides an ample income for you and your family. It also means that your down line has successfully incorporated the marketing practices that they learned from you and that they are building thriving businesses of their own.

And, there lies the difference between our business and affiliate marketing or other online businesses. Network marketing requires a different approach to building traffic because it requires building a sense of trust and confidence in ourselves as leaders that other online businesses don’t need.

Keep in mind that our business builds for the long term, that we must teach before we earn the extraordinary incomes that can be had in our business, that we only need a few to enjoy those levels of income. And, that can’t be forced, but must be nurtured one recruit at a time.

An online network marketing recruiting site does not need first page rankings on search engines. Stop and think about that for a moment, then read that sentence again. You do not need first page search engine rankings. You only need enough traffic to build your first level of down line business builders. Then, you must teach them to duplicate your work. And, so on.

Affiliate marketers and other online marketers need high rankings because they have very little, to no, opportunities for repeat business, so they must constantly churn traffic with offers on tens, even hundreds, of squeeze page sites to build contact lists. Then, they market more products to their list, and share them with others to earn their incomes, a few dollars at a time.

This pressure to drive traffic to web sites, this absolute requirement to have first page search engine rankings is what has caused an explosion of offerings of software and “secrets” to bring in more sales, and it is not necessary with an honest, ethical network marketing business.

Yes, traffic is what will bring business builders, but you must build your site to attract the right kind of visitors. And, just as importantly, you must tell them whether they are the right kind of visitor for you!

You must describe the kind of visitor and recruit you want, and you must tell them what kind of leader that you are. That builds the credibility that compels visitors to take the next step, whatever that is for your business.

So, stop chasing traffic and start building a site that brings the kind of entrepreneur that you want to teach. Relax and find other sites that have the kind of visitor you are looking for, and learn from what they are doing.

Use the basic, and safe, SEO methods to build your site for the long term. When you get results, build on them. When you find compatible sites to yours, link to them. When your down line business builders go online, have them link to your site.

So, to stop chasing online traffic that brings no results, figure out what kind of leader you are and show yourself to the online community by using all of the basic tools at your disposal. Your site will be rewarded with visitors who have responded to your leadership and will be eager to learn from  you.

And, finally, keep in mind that a good network marketing business only needs a very small number of active business builders who are eager to have what you have!

How to Be a Super Affiliate Marketer

Super Affiliates
Too many online entrepreneurs settle for becoming a marketer when they could be so much more. Are you one of them? Have you heard other marketers bragging about making thousands each week when you’re barely squeaking out a few dollars?

Take a look at what separates you from them. It’s not that they’re any smarter or any more talented. It’s simply that they found what worked and then worked it until the profits started rolling in. So how did they do it and how can you copy that success?

First of all, you have to know what you need to promote. Just because you happen to like a product doesn’t mean that it will sell well, so don’t just look for products that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Instead, research what the hot selling products are and look for the products that will give you a higher return. For example, 10% of a $1,000 product is $100 in your pocket. But 50% of a $60 product is just $30 in your pocket, so don’t rely on percentages alone.

Once you find a good item to promote, start marketing aggressively. Talk it up on your website, present it on your blog, write articles about it, bring it to the attention of the public on Squidoo, Hub Pages, Google Knol and on your other social media sites.

Next, go the extra mile. Everyone likes dessert. So after you offer the main course of the product, sweeten the deal with a little something extra that savvy marketers often call a bonus.

It’s sort of like the television offers you’ve heard: “But wait! There’s more!” which is a line used to seal the deal, to tip the scales in the marketer’s favor – which of course is the customer making a purchase.

You want to offer the product and then bring on the extra. You have to make it something the potential buyer really wants and he can’t get it without buying the product. Something that complements the original purchase nicely – not a bonus that’s irrelevant to their needs.

You also want to create a buzz or spread the word about the bonus offer as well. Not only do you let the general public know about the offer, but you also make sure your list knows there’s a special deal waiting for them if they buy.

Anticipation is what creates an appetite among buyers. The worst thing for a marketer is to have a product that no one knows about. While word of mouth will bring in a few customers, your pre-launch days for your product are what will bring in the masses. Do a count down until the product releases and once it goes live, let your customers race out of the gate to be one of the first buyers.

Do You Need a Marketing Mentor or Can You Go It Alone?

marketing mentor
Some newbies to the Internet Marketing world feel like, without a mentor, they’ll flounder online and won’t be able to make headway in this type of business. But that isn’t always the case.

The last thing you want to do is have a mentor whose only goal is to make money – for himself. You want someone who can look at your individual strengths and weaknesses and help you find a business model that will satisfy you personally and financially.

You may need an overall mentor for your efforts, or choose to hire a mentor who has experience in one specific area of Internet Marketing, like Search Engine Optimization or Pay Per Click Marketing.

Marketing can’t be summed up into one tiny, neatly wrapped package because there are too many aspects of marketing to make it that narrow. Don’t expect to learn everything in one session with a mentor.  It’s not a topic where mastery happens in one sitting.

You don’t have to have a marketing mentor if you want to run your own online business or even several online businesses. You’ll make mistakes (even the top marketing gurus still make mistakes) and you may even have some total failures, but that helps you learn what to avoid next time.

Hiring a marketing coach isn’t cheap and you could expect to pay thousands over time for help from some of the best coaching experts. If you’re just starting out, or you’ve been in business awhile and it’s not taking off the way you’d like, you might not be in the position to afford a coach.

That doesn’t mean you can’t find free expert help to guide you on the path to marketing well. There’s a great deal of advice and guidance online for marketers in any stage of their business and it’s all free of charge.

You can find this advice and guidance online through marketing blogs, forums and even articles written by marketers who have already been where you are now. You’ll learn about which marketing tools to buy, which ones are a waste of time and money and what the hottest niches are today. All this will cost you is your time. Find a marketer who keeps a regular blog and covers the information you need to know. Check out the blog archives, too.

Having the ability to read is the only qualification you need to make your marketing business a profit puller. Put the effort into researching and studying what you don’t know but need to learn.

So many marketers have graciously shared the wealth of their knowledge online for free, but you have to do the work of unearthing the nuggets you need to succeed.

E-Business (The Only Way to Go)

E-Business

Ok, so while the title, might not make the offline marketers happy, it certainly makes me happy! While it is true that we need offline businesses as well, as my personal favorite e-business types, this article is about the benefits, and advantages of setting up and running an e-business, and how they can benefit both types.

From the moment you open your virtual doors, you are expanding your business to include people from all around the globe, all walks of life, and you are effectively expanding your reach beyond the limits of anything you would experience with a typical brick and mortar type business. Even if you live in New York City with a population of eight and a half million people you wouldn’t be able to compare to an effective online business, with its global reach.

Typically most offline businesses will have set “Store” hours of business, by launching an e-business segment to your offline business, or having an entirely online business you can enjoy the benefits of generating sales 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and limit the “store” hours to customer service, promotion, etc.

One of the biggest benefits for me is the fact that I am able to automate a good portion of my business, and that allows me to handle a much higher volume of visitors/clients/sales than I’d be able to with trying to run an entire offline operation all by myself.

Overhead on an e-business is generally a lot less, and much of the processes can be automated in order to maximize efficiency, generally speaking if you have the funds, and your business is doing well, then you can invest into your e-business. An offline business isn’t quite so forgiving; there is monthly rent, equipment rentals, salaries, transportation costs, and so much more depending on which business you’ve entered into. An internet based business can generally expand as the demand for it requires, so that when you are getting 10,000 visitors to your site each day, and making the proportionate sales, you can then invest the $200+ dollars a month into a dedicated server. Likewise when you outgrow being able to handle all aspects of your business, you can hire an assistant, or helper, but only after the income is consistently rolling in each month.

Also it is much harder to find people willing to work strictly on commission in the offline sector, and while there are exceptions to the rule, they are few and far between and won’t fit every situation. With internet marketing, you can attract affiliate marketers of all levels to promote your products, and services, and many even have considerable resources to offer, such as large email lists that they can email out to, or high traffic websites of their own to place banners and such.

I will only touch briefly on the fact that you get to set your own hours since that is sort of true with many businesses, (especially home based ones) but it is an added benefit, and since as I’ve pointed out earlier, you are now marketing to a global audience, there is no way one person could respond directly to each inquiry that came in from every time zone. You could however set your e-business up in such a way as to get email alerts when certain events take place and by having these alerts sent to your mobile device, make it seem almost as if you were available 24/7.

There are many more benefits that I could go into, but here are a few for you to consider, if you’re contemplating the launch of something in the online world. The best advice I could offer up though is that it does take just as much effort, and hard work to make a go of it, and shouldn’t be treated any differently than a traditional business. If you do, this is only setting it up for failure. Second, just because it is possible to get up and running with very little in the way of a financial outlay of cash (in some cases you can start practically for free) doesn’t mean that you should treat it that way. If it’s worth stating up, it’s worth investing the time and energy into seeing it succeed. And last, always make sure you do your homework, research the niche, or topic that you are considering going into, and if possible even talk directly with someone who is already in it to see if they have any suggestions, or recommendations.

Whichever business you decide to launch, owning your own business, and being your own boss is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever experienced in life, and I have no problem recommending it to each and every one of you!

Market Research – How to Use It for Online Marketing

Market Research

Market research may seem to be easier to conduct offline than it is online. The truth of the matter is it’s actually the other way around. Marketing research is easier to conduct online than it is offline. So if you’re doing research for your e-business, you’re in luck. Most people take care of their basic needs online, including paying bills, shopping and communication. So you have plenty of chances to do market research for your internet marketing plans.

To start off, you want to find your target audience. If you don’t know who your target audience is, you can find out for free. Just look online for magazines that pertain to your niche. You can usually get previews of articles online. After reading a few articles in various magazines, you should begin to pick up on a theme. The information presented in these magazines is what your target audience wants to read about. Therefore the information you present in your products should be set up in a somewhat similar fashion. Once you’ve got the information that you need, you’re now ready to reach out to people in your niche. This is an important step. You need to confirm that the information you’ve collected is, in fact what they want. Dated information means that the needs and wants of your target audience have more than likely changed.

How do you reach out to your target audience? Have them take surveys. This is a very common method of market research. There is a reason for this. Surveys work. They are a great method of gathering information and getting into the minds of your target audience. Everyone has been on a site where they get a little pop-up window asking for 5 minutes of their time to take a survey. These surveys are designed to help improve the company and the products that they present to you. If they see similar responses in a large enough group of people, they may create a product centered on the needs of those particular consumers.

What if you can’t afford to conduct market research through surveys? Are there easier ways to get the information that you desire? Yes, but it depends on your e-business niche. If you run an SEO company, you may want to ask your customers what you can do to improve your service. You can ask them what services they may want to see you offer, or how they would rate your customer service. Speaking to your customers directly is a good way to get honest opinions. When taking online surveys, a lot of people just rush through them. By having your customers email or call you to take to you, you’ll get a chance to establish a real rapport with your customers, and you’ll likely get better, more detailed answers.

If you own something a little bit different, such as an internet marketing, affiliate marketing or work at home company, you can still take part in research. Even blogging industries can conduct market research. Just ask the questions that you want to know the answers to. You’ll receive emails, comments and testimonials that will help you collect the data that you require.

Make Money Blogging

Make Money Blogging

If you are looking for a way to work from home that provides you with the chance to make your own hours, exercise your brain, and work with something you enjoy, then blogging is something you should definitely consider. If you like to write, and have a good amount of knowledge about a given subject or even just a great sense of humor or some interesting thoughts, then you can get started with your very own blog. Here, we’ll go over how to make money blogging, as well as how you can maximize the income you get from your blog once it takes off.

Blogs are essentially online journals, and are used by individuals and businesses alike to record thoughts, post ideas, and much, much more. Suppose, for example, that you have an interest in fly fishing. You could write everything from fly fishing experiences you have had, tips on buying particular lures, great spots to fish, how to clean and cook certain fish, and so on. You can place advertisements or even sponsored links to products on your blog, using it as a source of income.

The great thing about online blogs is that as you write and create content for the blog, people will naturally find your blog through search engines and others who may have linked to it. This will increase the number of readers your blog has, and many of these readers will in turn create links to your blog. Part of your search engine ranking (how early your blog appears in search engine results) relies on the number of incoming links, so as more people read and link to you, the more people will find you, even if they aren’t following these links. This exponential growth allows some blogs to really take off, providing the means for a significant source of income.

In fact, many people take advantage of online advertising and marketing techniques in order to support themselves entirely by blogging. You can make money blogging in a number of different ways, but the best way to get the most bang for your buck (or buck for your blog) is to optimize your site. SEO (search engine optimization) is a method by which you can dramatically increase the number of readers coming to your site, thus increasing the amount of money you make from advertisements, or the number of readers who visit sponsored product links.

New Business Ideas – Taking your Business Online

Business IdeasIf you already own your own business and want to give it a boost with a fresh idea, or if you are planning on starting your own business but are lacking some inspiration, then you may be interested in taking your business online. The internet offers a variety of new business ideas that can give your existing business or future project a kick start. Here, we’ll go over a few of the ways taking your business online can provide you with an advantage over the competition, as well as how to go about setting up a new business online.

New business ideas are tough to come by, especially those that will make a dramatic impact on your current or future business. Taking your business online can provide a number of benefits for a variety of business models, whether you operate a single local restaurant or shop, stores in a number of different locations, or a home based business. For example, a local restaurant can benefit from an online presence by providing users with a menu online, and the ability to make reservations over the internet. A local retailer can offer directions to their store, or allow users to browse the inventory on their website.

If you are looking for new business ideas for starting your own business, then modeling your business after an existing one online can help. Providing a product or service of a higher quality or for less money than a competitor is a great way to get ahead. Online businesses that cater specifically to a particular area can also make the best of their website by providing enhanced customer service to customers in that area. You can even create a website and take in revenue from on site advertisements, and draw in users with entertainment media or helpful information.

Finding new business ideas online is relatively easy, especially if you are simply looking for a way to enhance an existing business. Keeping in mind that there are a large number of online businesses for virtually every market, it is important to find an aspect of your business that will make it special. Drawing in customers with lower prices, unique products or services, or higher quality material is often the best way to do so. Using your skills and knowledge to your advantage when creating a new business model will allow you to take your ideas to the next level.
