Choosing an Affiliate Partner

choosing a partner

In the world of internet marketing, and affiliate marketing, much of the success you see is due to strategic partnership between the many different groups of people online. An internet marketer who has created his own product with then either branch out into the affiliate manager group, or perhaps hire someone to look after his program for him. Over time you’ll start receiving offers to promote and joint venture on products, and product launches, and it’s important to do your due diligence regarding each marketer to ensure you will both make a good fit for each other.

There are a few key things that need to be met from both parties involved and in order for the relationship to be successful each one needs to be met. This helps ensure the success of the project that you both are undertaking together, because while it might happen primarily over email, it should still be taken as a serious business partnership or alliance.

A Targeted Niche

The affiliate manager, or the person with the product is usually looking for individuals in the same niche as himself as the product fit will be more appropriate, and the visitors your website is already receiving will be highly targeted to his particular offer or product. Generally internet marketers have other resources that are similarly targeted toward the particular offer in the way of email lists, twitter accounts, Fan pages, etc. Obviously the more firepower (eyeballs) you can get onto an offer, the more successful it will be.

Professionalism

It’s important that both parties involved bring a high level of professionalism to the table or you could end up damaging the reputation of one or the other, this is your business and most likely your livelihood so I’m not going to dwell on this point because I assume you are all treating both your business, and your customers in a respectful and professional manner.

Solid Affiliate Tracking System

I’ve dealt with both and have to say the sense of unease you get when the affiliate tracking software is missing hits, and potentially sales isn’t something that lends itself to a good night sleep. And even though sales might be coming in through that program, it is always sitting there at the back of your mind “am I missing sales”? Products in this category will usually get dropped altogether, or at the very least receive a minimal amount of promotion.

Promotional Assets

Parties are bringing different talents and assets to the table here, the affiliate has his website, his list and contacts, but it’s also important that the product have a full complement of materials that can be used to promote the offer. Some things to look for are:

-          Banners in different sizes, colors, and formats

-          Email copy that can be sent to your list

-          Sales video’s go a long way toward conversions

-          Keyword Lists that you can target should you be coming from a PPC direction

-          A high converting sales page is a nice asset

-          Ad Copy

-          A quality product

-          Efficient delivery system

-          Secure payment system

-          Great customer service

-          Fair commission structure for both parties

-          Open communication between both parties

Obviously the more you each can offer the other the better the success of the partnership, and at the end of the day it’s all about getting a quality product in front of someone who needs it, resulting in a sale. I believe it was Joe Girard who said “Sales isn’t something you do TO someone, but something you do FOR them”.

30 Days to an EBook

Writing

No matter what niche or market you happen to be in, a great way to earn some extra money with your blog or website while also setting you up as an expert in your field is to write an eBook, and market it to the world.

With dedication and commitment, mixed in with some decent research skills, almost anyone can write a high quality eBook for their audience, and the more time you are willing to invest into the project, the higher quality result you’ll be rewarded with.

So just where do you start? Well it helps if you already have a grasp of the subject matter that you have chosen for your website and possibly eBook, so you might already have a good idea of just what questions are being asked and where your knowledge might be best spent to help the most amounts of people. The first step in your eBook project will be to settle on a topic, and rough length for the book, I say rough because typically you can’t just set a number in stone, because it usually ends up that the content decides the final total or word count.

Try to choose what content you would like to present to your readers, and then spend some time developing the chapters that you would like to cover, you should have a rough estimate of how many words it will take you to cover each chapter, and obviously the more information you have to cover, the more words you will need. Try to avoid filling your eBook with filler words just to keep the word count up. The more content you can cram into your book the more beneficial it will be to your readers, and when you launch your next eBook, you will already have a pool of potential buyers for it, especially if it is in the same niche, or is a follow up to the first book.

I am going to share a sample writing schedule that you can use as a guideline, feel free to modify it to suit your needs accordingly, it is just meant as a guide to keep you on track, and ensure that you get you’re eBook launched in a reasonable amount of time.

Day 1     – Research several topics, and try and settle on one that will both be enjoyable for you to research and write, as well as to appeal to as large an audience as possible within you’re niche.

Day 2     – Write out you’re chapters ensuring that you cover all the material that you feel you need to get across to your readers in order for them to fully understand the topic you have chosen.

Day 3     – Fill in your copyright information, your chapters, as well as your intro for the book, now might also be a good time to brand it with your website, logo or whatever you intend to use.

Day 4     – Try to write one chapter each day, don’t worry about punctuation or grammar too much at this point, you will need to proof it several times as well as edit it for publication or launch.

Day 5     – For this example we will assume an eBook of 20 chapters, hence 20 days’ worth of writing.

Day 23   – Now that you have a rough copy of the book completed its time to go through it looking for typo’s misspelled words, doubled up words, etc. You will want to go through it at least 4 or 5 times, because our minds can trick us by reading ahead and will try to see what it anticipates rather than what is actually there. This is why a book can hit the shelves after being proof read by no less than 6 people and still have errors in it.

Day 24   – Find at least 3 or 4 people who will read through your new book looking for any errors, as well as to offer up any suggestions that they might have regarding the content, whenever possible use people who will likely be the end user so that the feedback will be as accurate as possible for your needs. Have the highlight any changes they make so that when you get each one back, it will be a simple matter to implement any changes you think might enhance the book. Remember, just because someone makes a suggestion, doesn’t mean you have to implement it. If you don’t think it aligns with the way you want the book to be read then by all means leave it out.

Day 25   – Have the graphics done up for the book, any interior images you might need as well as the cover image for the book, if you intend to offer banners to help promote the eBook now would be a good time to have them done so you can ensure the entire package is branded the same way.

Day 26   – Spend the day writing the sales  copy for the book, here is where you sell the potential customer on the benefits of the book, as how it will affect/enhance their lives, you can write this yourself, or outsource it. Typically if you hire a seasoned copywriter you can expect a higher conversion rate and in turn higher profit margin for your book.

Day 27   – Prepare to launch your eBook to the world, if you will be submitting to Clickbank in order to capitalize on the power of affiliates, also it might be a good idea to write and schedule a press release to announce the launch or publication of your new eBook, this will provide you with thousands of readers instantly and potentially some sales as well as get the word out about your new book and what it has to offer.

Days 28 through 30          – Now is the time to avail yourself to the social media avenues you have available to you, mail it out to your list, have your friends or joint venture partners mail out for you, offer to do ad swaps with other list owners. Schedule regular tweets over the Twitter-Sphere and ask your followers if they would be so kind as to retweet it to their followers as well. Many of us will be glad to help out, and make your eBook launch as successful as possible.

Writing and launching an eBook can be a rewarding experience for you and can bring you a residual income for some time to come, while also showing your readers how knowledgeable you are on your chosen topic.

Choose a niche

Choose A Niche

You can’t be all things to all people It is impossible. One reason that businesses fail is because they try to reach a target audience that is very broad. Now, it might seem like a good idea to reach more customers but consider this: You’ll spend way more money on marketing and your marketing will be much less effective, all because you’re trying to spread yourself too thin. You’ll be so busy trying to connect to everyone that you’ll never connect with anyone.

Instead, focus on a niche, a target market of people who are narrowly defined. When you do this, you’ll spend less on your marketing and it will be far more effective because you’ll be able to create good marketing that resonates with your well-defined niche.

The good news is, using this technique I’m showing you in this ebook, you can easily figure out who your target market is.

Start with your offering

So the first thing you’ll want to do is start with your offering. Who would be interested in it? Don’t make the rookie mistake of assuming that “everybody” will be interested I your offering. If you make that mistake, nobody will be interested. To use the gadgets offering example…

  • You’re automatically eliminating anyone who is too young to own one of these gadgets.
  • And you’re automatically eliminating anyone who is too old to own one of these gadgets.
  • And you’re automatically eliminating people who live in countries where these gadgets are either unavailable, too expensive to own, or are not supported by the appropriate network of satellites or cell towers.
  • And unless you translate into other languages, you’re automatically eliminating anyone who doesn’t speak English.

See? We’ve already reduced your potential market from 7 billion “everybodies” to probably 1 billion or less. You can keep narrowing it down by age, gender, and likelihood to buy your product until you get to a target market segment made up of like-minded people who can afford your offering.

List them and define them by parameters like:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Location
  • Income
  • Typical job/position
  • Education
  • Interests
  • Influences in their life
  • What else do they buy?
  • What would prompt them to buy your offering?
  • Importance of offering in their life
  • What are reasons that they might not buy?

By getting a picture of your niche in this way, you’ll have a better understanding of the information they are looking for as well as how you can market to them in a way that they will receive the message, understand it, and respond positively to it.

For the gadgets offering example we’ve been using, the target market might look like this:

25-55 year olds; male; educated; in middle and upper management; interested in technology; interested in things to make their busy lives easier; interested in keeping up with their peers’ adoption of gadgets.

By creating this profile, you’re not suggesting that you WON’T sell to someone older or younger, or to women, or to someone who is not in middle or upper management. Rather, you are identifying who your most likely target market is because that will help you to more effectively market to them. You can create advertising and marketing initiatives that connect with this demographic wherever they happen to be. For example, if this group is on LinkedIn, you might consider doing some marketing there.

More than one demographic

Although you don’t want to market to “everybody”, it is possible that you will have more than one target market. So you should do this exercise for each of the target markets you are going to connect with. However, when marketing, you will need to target just one at a time.

At this point, you’ll have an approximate idea of what you are going to offer and an approximate idea of who will buy it. Now it’s time to do some research.

20 Tips for Branding Yourself

Brand yourself

Whether you’re a fully established business, or a newly started online business it’s important to start branding your company right from the beginning in order to maximize the results that you and your business will start to see over time. I’m going to share some of my ideas and methods below that I use, as well as a few I’ve yet to implement.
1. Use the name you wish to brand in your domain name whenever possible, if you wish you brand yourself as an individual, don’t be afraid to register yourname.com, just be aware if you do build it up into a million dollar business and wish to sell, it will be harder to do if it’s branded to yourself.

2. Spend the money on getting yourself a decent logo; have you ever taken a look at some of the better logo’s that are around? There are some amazingly simple, yet astounding images that have been created for companies around the globe that embody the spirit and name of certain companies.

3. Create a Twitter account, and either design a custom background for it, or have one created for you, remember to incorporate your logo, or “brand” into all graphics that you put out whenever possible to achieve consistency, and promote brand awareness. Notice that my website, Twitter account, Facebook fan page, eBooks, banners, etc. are all branded to my company. This way over time people will start to associate these images with me, and my business or website.

4. Sponsor a WordPress theme, or plugin and make it available to people on the web, have you ever seen themes that included a footer that said “made possible by” or “Sponsored by”, not only is the name of the company or website on hundreds or thousands of these templates, but there is also a link back to their website which provides them with additional SEO benefit as well.

5. Build, or outsource a piece of software or productivity tool and have it branded with your company name then offer it to users. There are thousands of software sites that will carry your software and offer it to their visitors for download. Again, these software sites (which are usually very high traffic sites) will provide a link back to the website that produces the software which again will provide you with additional SEO benefits.

6. Create a signature in your email to promote your website or company. I have my name, company with a brief description as well as an invitation to follow us on Twitter. I’m not sure how many people have visited my site due to emails I’ve sent out, or how many followers I’ve gained by it, but I can tell you it’s more than if I didn’t utilize it.

7. If you’re an internet marketer you are most likely capturing email addresses and building a subscriber list in order to market to them. Rather than send out the generic text emails, try branding your emails. I’ve designed my emails to look like my website, complete with a header graphic, links and again, an invitation to follow me on Twitter. Are you starting to see a trend yet? Every form of communication media that I use is branded in such a way as to promote my companies assets.

8. Set yourself up as the expert in your field. This will keep people coming back time, and time again for your tips, and information and they will start to associate you and your brand with one of the industry leaders that they can turn to for advice on the different topics that you cover. Now being the expert in your market will require a dedicated consistency to learning as much about your topic as you possibly can, but if it’s something that you are passionate about then it shouldn’t be an issue.

9. Fill in applicable fields like your forum signature, or Skype, MSN, anything that will allow you to enter text to describe you to an audience. Don’t just limit yourself to your name (unless that is what you are branding).

10. Brand your YouTube account so that you maintain a consistent image on there also. YouTube is currently ranked the third highest traffic website on the internet, if you aren’t already on there, get over there and set up an account and make yourself available to the audience over there also. It’s all about placing yourself and your company or website in front of as many people as possible.

11. Article marketing, write articles on your topics and publish them on high traffic article directories with a resource box that points back to your website. This will also help set you up as an expert in your chosen niche.

12. Comment on related blogs, and make sure to add value to the discussion so that people will be encouraged to click through to your site, where you can then hopefully convert them into loyal readers.

13. Brand and release reports on topics in your industry, offer them for free on your website as well as availing them to other site owners to offer up to their readers. If I write a blog post about affiliate networks, and you’ve given me a report discussing the top 20 networks I’ll be more than happy to include it in my post. This gives your site a much wider reach than it might normally have because now my readers have the option of downloading and reading your branded report.

14. Take it a step further and write an eBook that solves a problem or teaches readers how to accomplish something. This will again set you up as an expert in your field, and will provide you with another branding opportunity. If you’ve downloaded my eBook E-Business; “The Insider’s Edge” you’ve noticed that the book is branded with both my header as well as links at the bottom of each page where the reader can visit my site directly. There are thousands of copies of my eBook out there promoting my business while helping people at the same time.

15. Create and brand your own products. This will provide you with more branding opportunities, and more importantly an income source for you and your site.

16. Use press releases to announce upcoming product launches, or other newsworthy events that your company experiences. This will help get your name out in front of a national audience in a very short time. It is not uncommon for thirty or forty thousand people or more to read your release in just a matter of a few days. That’s a pretty big audience by anyone’s standards.

17. Have banners created to promote your brand or website, and strategically place them on other sites in your industry. You can take part in banner exchange programs to maximize your exposure and open yourself up to new audiences and readers that frequent other blogs or websites in your niche.

18. Create an avatar to represent your brand so that when you comment or post on the internet you are again leaving behind something recognizable for people to see and associate with you and your brand.

19. Create a favicon for your website to set yourself apart from other websites. If you look through your bookmarks you’ll easily see sites that you recognize just from their favicon.

20. Brand yourself offline as well as online, have your business cards and stationary reflect the image that you are trying to build online. Make sure any collateral you send out has not only your contact information and website address, but also your logo as well.

These are just a few methods that you can use to start building brand recognition and setting yourself apart from others in your market. Building a brand is an ongoing process and will continue for as long as you own your business. Make sure you have a program in place that not only promotes your brand, but protects it also. Keep one ear to the ground so that you can deal with any issues or problems that occur as soon as they take place. There is nothing worse than stumbling over a post that slams your company because someone sent you an email addressing some issue they had with your product or service only to have it slip through the cracks and never be dealt with by you or your team.

Follow Influential Bloggers

Influential Bloggers

It’s important to open yourself up to other styles, and writing ideas and a great way to do this is to simply take a look around at the bloggers in your niche, and see just what it is that there doing differently. Often you’ll be able to pick up on certain aspects of a blogger that has a certain degree of success in one area or another that you’d like to be successful in.

Each person brings different ideas, and talents to the table, and by following other bloggers you will start to open up to new methods of driving sales, or converting traffic, or heck getting the traffic in the first place. I know other bloggers and internet marketers that get less traffic than I do, but make more money than I do. Now I’m probably going to pay more attention to how they are converting their traffic and setting up their site vs. how they manage to get traffic.

Blogging and Internet marketing require us to be flexible, and continuously learning. If your blog is about happiness, or dogs, or horses, or whatever, how long do you think it will be before you run out of ideas to write about? Do you have 100 articles in your head about happiness? 200? Sooner or later you’re going to have to reach out and learn more about your topic, and continually strive for new inspiration to write new content and your fellow writers out there in the blogosphere are a great source for both.

Don’t worry that because one of the people you follow wrote an article last month on a certain topic, and you’d like to, but don’t feel you should because it’s already been written. We each have our own writing style and experiences, and your article will come out uniquely yours. If we gave twenty people a topic to write about, we’d end up with twenty very different stories I’m sure.

However if you use information from someone else’s site, be sure to credit them as the source, with a link back to them. Most people don’t mind being quoted as a source, and the backlink is always appreciated.

I read a dozen or so blogs regularly, and learn something from each of them, and even with that I’m limiting myself, I am often amazed by some of the new blogs I stumble across, and the content that I find, or the writing style that keeps me reading for an hour or more, or how they’ve set up their site. There are so many talented bloggers out there that you can visit and learn from.

I’d suggest bookmarking them, and maybe give them a rating system so that you can keep them sorted into an easy to find navigational system. Keeping track of fifty or a hundred blogs can be challenging, but 100 blogs isn’t even a drop in the blogosphere bucket.

Technoratti.com can be a great source for finding blogs in a certain niche, or that cover a certain topic. You can also get an idea of how popular by taking a look at the authority rating they’ve been given, though I’d suggest leaving your final judgment in your own hands because they seem be having some issues lately since making some changes to their system. My own site went from 478 authority to 128 and just sat there until I resubmitted it, and then it bounced back up. You can also search for blog posts that cover a certain topic.

Multiple Streams of Internet Income – Seven Streams of Income

Multiple Streams of Income

Having an opt-in list is a major factor in having multiple streams of income. It opens you up to the possibility of having more than one income, all coming from one website. The first possible stream of income comes from special offers. You may send out content in various forms, but try sending out special offers to your list once or twice per season. Don’t include anything else within the email expect the offer, so that the readers will not be distracted by anything. However, don’t send out these offers too often or they will not seem too special to those receiving them.

The second stream of income in your multiple streams of internet income can be selling products. From within your opt-in list, this will allow you to generate income from selling your products to individuals on your list. Post a quick message welcoming subscribers, followed by a small note regarding one of your products. This may become the primary point of your website sales. Remember not to go right into the sale. Instead, be polite and ease into the sale so that you will gain the trust of your subscribers.

Your next income stream comes from joint ventures. If you can enter a joint venture with someone with a large email list, such as an ezine owner, it will be very valuable to you. This is because such individuals constantly need products of the highest quality and service to sell to people on their lists. Income stream four comes from affiliate programs. Search for an affiliate program that will provide good articles and content for you. You will be able to promote them with their content. By joining affiliate programs you will accomplish two things. You earn profits from your affiliate because you have run their article, and you receive already written content for your email publications.

The fifth way you can obtain multiple streams of internet income is through sponsor ads. You can sell space within your own newsletter or publications, dedicating this space in your newsletter to ads. You can also buy space from others to place your ads for your own products. The sixth way also deals with ads, but is for classified ads. For opt-in publications via email, you can use this space to trade ads with larger companies or it can be used as a bonus for whatever product you are selling.

The final income stream for multiple streams of internet income is with membership site upgrades. This income stream is rarely every thought about by publishers. Since publications for email are sent out for free, you should not make all of your best content free. If your information is difficult to find and unique, people will be willing to pay for it. Thus, paid membership sites will allow you to provide members with exclusive information that they can’t find anywhere else. This will allow you to expand your income with yet another stream of income that is certainly an untapped resource on the internet.

Managing Multiple Websites – How to Make It Possible

Multiple Streams of Income

You have often heard that the key to success on the internet is to have multiple streams of income. This way, if one stream of income dries up, you have other ones to fall back on. You can make yourself multiple streams of income by setting up multiple websites. Most affiliate marketers will tell you that they run multiple affiliate websites. They may even dabble in other niches, such as SEO and blogs. All of these subjects require their own separate websites. Managing all of these topics together on one website will make the website look sloppy and disorganized. This will be detrimental to the owners, because it will result in a lack of visitors.

Setting up a website for each separate niche takes time. Even if all of your websites revolve around affiliate marketing, every website must have its own theme. For example, if you’re interested in selling electronics, information, and household cleaning products, then you will need three separate websites for these subjects. This helps keep you organized. However, you still need to know how to manage all of these websites. For most people, the thought of managing multiple websites is a headache and a chore. But it doesn’t have to be that way. All you need is a bit of prudent planning.

Look at your schedule. No matter how busy you are, you can always find at least 10 minutes a day. Take those 10 minutes and work on one of your websites. It doesn’t have to be every day. You can do it once a week. As long as you do it on a regular basis, that’s all that matters. The 10 minutes can be used to do one or two things. You can set up affiliate links, or put information on your website. You can choose a layout. You can rearrange some things. As long as you do some work on your website in those 10 minutes, you’re managing your website.

You don’t have to work on all of your websites at once. If you have three websites, try working on one each day each week. There are claims that with some websites you can just “set it and forget it.” This is entirely untrue. A good webmaster will check on his websites if nothing else. Make sure that your links are still valid. Broken links can lead to a decrease in visitors and less traffic. You don’t always have to change your layouts, but perhaps updating information is in order. If some things have changed, you want your website to reflect those changes. Keep the information on your website current.

Your time constraints or circumstances don’t matter. Managing multiple websites is completely possible. You have to manage your time correctly in order to succeed at it. It also helps not to take on more websites than you can possible handle. If you’re new, try out no more than five. You don’t want to overwhelm yourself or burn yourself out. This will result in your websites being neglected. In the long run, such a thing can hurt your success in whichever niche you choose.

Hosting a Webinar – Things You Need to Know

Hosting A Webinar

If you are knowledgeable enough on a certain in-demand topic or niche, you may be able to host a webinar. Hosting a webinar is a very serious responsibility. Your audience is likely very new to the niche or topic you’re talking about. They have little to no knowledge at all. Or perhaps everything they know is based on myths and misinformation. Your job as a webinar host is to dispel these myths and convey the proper information. Free information is a great way to sell your product and increase traffic to your website. This is why many internet marketers and affiliate marketers host webinars.

The first thing you have to do is decide what your webinar is going to be about. It would help if it’s a topic that is high in interest. These topics may include e-business, internet marketing, affiliate marketing, SEO, blogging, how to work from home or blogging. The purpose of your webinar is ultimately to increase customers and sales. However, this is impossible to do if your customers don’t trust you. Therefore, a webinar has a dual purpose. You can show your audience you are knowledgeable and trusting. This will result in an increase in traffic to your website and an increase in sales.

Next, decide how long your webinar is going to be. This is a very important step in hosting a webinar. Most people who are in attendance will only be available for a no more than an hour. So when getting your presentation together, you need to keep your time limit in mind. You may have a wealth of knowledge on the subject, but remember that most of your attendees are beginners. You can’t talk to them about managing a successful e-business when they don’t even know what an e-business is. An effective introduction is in order. This will help grasp your attendees’ attention.

During your introduction, explain what your topic is before going on. The rest of your presentation should proceed in a logical order. When hosting a webinar, it helps to develop an outline that you can stick to. The outline will help make sure that you’re not going off topic. The outline should also be visible to those attending the webinar, so that they can follow along as well. Make your webinar presentation purely informational. Do not add fluff. No one wants their time wasted. At the end of the presentation, allow an appropriate amount of time to answer questions. This is also known as a Q & A session.

Before giving your webinar, it’s important that you practice your presentation. This is how you’ll know if you’ve got too much information. You should prepare at least 2 weeks in advance. As you’re preparing, you’ll also want to look for people who want to attend your webinar. You can find them by searching for websites that contain the type of audience that are interested in your information. This includes visitors to blogs relating to your niche, and other similar websites.

Choosing a Domain Name – How to Pick One for Your Niche

Choosing a Domain Name

Many people find the task of choosing a domain name very frustrating. If you are one of these people, you’re not alone. Domain names can be very difficult to pick out, especially if this is your first time doing so. Many people choose flashy domains or domains that don’t make any sense. These are fine for personal domains, but when you’re trying to choose a domain for your e-business, it needs to be serious, professional and easy to remember. Your domain name is important to the life of your business. How so?

A domain that’s easy to remember is one that sticks in people’s minds. A simple domain name will do, nothing that is too long or too short. It also helps for it to be unique to you. How do you make a domain name simple and unique? You can try by putting a keyword in your domain name, and go from there. For example, if you’re trying to choose a domain name for your blog, first find a popular keyword in your niche. Then add a simple phrase in front of the keyword that is easy to remember. This simple phrase will be associated with your blog, and will also help with branding you in the blogging community.

What if you run an SEO company? You’ll notice that many SEO companies have the words “SEO” or “content” in their domain name. That’s not a coincidence. They just followed the simple formula mentioned above. They found a popular domain name and used a simple phrase in front of it. In this case, it was probably the name of the company itself. If it’s an individual, it may just be his or her name followed by the keyword and ending in the extension.

Your extension is also an important part of your keyword. When choosing your domain name, don’t make the mistake of choosing an extension no one is going to remember. There’s a reason the .com extension is so popular. That is the first thing that people think of when they get on the internet. If your domain extension is taken, try an alternative one like .info, .org or .net. Don’t try to get an extension that is complicated. No one is going to remember it. Remember, you want to keep your domain name as simple as possible.

Can you name your domain after yourself? Yes. It’s not usually frowned upon, but it’s not something that serious e-business owners do either. These types of domain names are used typically used for personal sites, not for blogs, PLR sites or other types of internet businesses. As a reminder, your domain name needs to be a reflection of your niche, not your personal life. If you’re going to work from home and make money online, you want to establish yourself as a professional. A proper domain name will help accomplish this. Personal sites and opinions should be kept separate from your e-business. A separate account and domain name is fine for this purpose.

Internet Marketing Education

Internet Marketing Education

Internet marketing, also referred to as I-marketing, web-marketing, online-marketing, or e-Marketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.

As a full time Internet Marketer, one of the things that is a key component to my continued success online, is the ability to learn and educate myself. There are so many different aspects to this business, and if I had to guess at the number one cause of failure among aspiring internet marketers, I’d have to say it’s due to them spreading themselves too thin.

Too often someone reads a sales page from some internet marketing guru promising wealth, fame, and fortune, if they’ll just spend that $19.99 and download the eBook promising to explain the “secret formula’s” of the online world! Quite often these eBooks and courses fail to deliver, so they’re off in the search of the next “get rich quick” scheme. Often these people will spend hundreds or thousands of dollars in a continual search for some detailed explanation for how they too can become an instant millionaire harnessing the power of the internet.

The easiest way to make money online is to focus on one aspect of internet marketing and become an expert with it. If you’d like to make internet marketing your career of choice then maybe it’s a good idea to become versed in multiple methods of marketing online. Keep in mind any one method can make you a decent living, and often times you may never need more than one to provide a full time income. But on the other hand diversity means that if for any reason whatsoever an income stream that you’ve come to rely on dries up, you’ll have some others to fall back on. Plus multiple streams of income provide a much greater level of financial security allowing you to dip into areas that might be new to you.

Like most things in life it’s a good idea to have a set of goals keeping you on track and heading in the right direction. Being on the right track means nothing if you’re not moving forward and progressing.
I’d start by listing the different methods and ideas you think might keep your interest.  A while back, dog training was a very profitable niche, however if it holds no interest for you, you probably won’t do as well as you would in an area your more passionate about.

If you were to spend a week’s time on each subject, you’d be able to learn quite a bit within just your first year. If I were going to offer up some suggestions my list would look something like this.

PPC – Pay per Click

Affiliate marketing – A very profitable area of internet marketing

Twitter marketing – Twitter is a wide open marketplace and easily capable of anywhere from hundreds to thousands each month with very little work

Facebook marketing – This has started slowing down lately with Facebook cracking down, but I know people still making 5 figures a month using Facebook alone

SEO – Search Engine Optimization (a skill that will serve you time and again)

These are just a few ideas to show you the way so to speak, there are hundreds more just waiting for you to discover. But if I had one piece of advice, I’d say spend a good week or two on each topic, and by week or two, I’m talking forty to eighty hours minimum! This is after all the way you’re going to earn your living!
