Do You Have What It Takes To Make Money Online

Do You Have What It Takes To Make Money Online

Did you know that most people don’t have what it takes to make money online? Now, I am not talking about making $5 here and there, I am talking about making hundreds of dollars each week.

The reason I say this is because most people think of making money online as a fun hobby as opposed to a job. If you don’t have any other means of income, then you will probably treat your online money making venture a lot differently, right? This is why I suggest you treat your online money making venture the same as you would a real job. By this I mean you need to create a schedule that you can stick with, give yourself deadlines and even stay after if tasks are not complete.

Making money online is not as easy as many people think and the reasons are because you have to be proactive, self sufficient, motivated and eager to learn. All of these things make up successful people who make money online and if this doesn’t describe you, then you will have a tough time making the kind of money you need or want to. Trust me on this one, I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear, but it is the truth.

How To Be Better

Create A Schedule – In order to make money online you will need to create a schedule. The reason you need a schedule is because you need to have some idea of when you will be working, what you will be doing during that time and how long you will work. For a lot of people that work for themselves they stick to the same schedule day in and day out and that is why they become successful so quickly.

Stick With A Plan – Not only do you need a schedule, you will need a plan as well. The plan is different from the schedule because it will outline what you plan on doing as a business venture and what your goals will be. A lot of people think that planning can be done in your head, and it can, but you will get more out of planning if you write things down.

The reason I recommend that you write your goals down is because you want it to remind you of where you want to be. If you are like most people, then you will thrive by seeing your unaccomplished goals.

Keep Learning – In order to be the best you can be at making money online, you need to keep learning. Being that the internet and business change so often, it is up to you to keep up with everything that is going on. Just know that in order to start making money you don’t need to know everything, you just need to have a basic understanding of what you are doing.

The biggest problem people have is they try something for a few weeks and then quit if that is not working, what you should understand is that some things can take months to start making money. What you need to do is just wait 2 months to see where your online money making venture is headed. I know this may seem like a long time but if you don’t wait, then you will never know whether or not that one idea could have made you money.

Although, many people don’t have what it takes to make money online, they can still be taught those things. Something that I highly recommend is that you just try a few different things to start making money and see what happens. The worse thing that could happen is you lose a little bit of your time but on the upside you might make a lot of money.

Answering the Question, “What Do You Do for a Living?”

When you make a living online, a lot of people won’t understand what it is you do.  Some of them will think you’re nothing more than a spammer – just because you work on the Internet.  You might even run into people who automatically assume you’re into promoting porn, because they think that’s all the Internet is used for!

You need to be prepared to deal with people like this.  Some of them may even be close friends and family members who are simply ignorant about the various marketing uses for the World Wide Web.

The first thing you need to explain to people is that very few people who work on the Internet are spammers.  Spammers actually make up a very, very small minority of those who make money online.

If you do any sort of email marketing, you should explain that every single person you send email to has signed up specifically to your newsletter, and clicked a link to confirm that they really want to be on your list.

Explain to them that subscribing to your newsletter is a lot like signing up for delivery of the newspaper, or a magazine subscription.  People sign up to your newsletter, and then you send them valuable information, not just advertising.

If you sell eBooks online, you can explain to people that you’re a bit like a book publisher, but all of the books you publish are in digital format.  You can tell them that instead of paying a lot of extra money for the printing, binding, marketing, and shipping of a physical book, you eliminate those costs by selling all of your books as downloadable products.

If people still don’t understand, you could even show them what an eBook is by letting them view one on your computer. If your main business is advertising affiliate products, you can tell people you’re in advertising.

Explain to them that you run a website (or websites) and you place advertising on that website.  Every time someone clicks an ad and purchases something, you receive a commission. If you make most of your money through AdSense or selling advertising on your sites, you can simply tell people that you place advertisements on your websites, and you charge advertisers for that ad space.

If you want to, you could show them some of your sites or blogs to illustrate the point. Some people feel more comfortable just telling people they design websites.  If you’re a decent website builder, this will probably really impress people, but be prepared to get requests from people asking if you’ll make them a site, too.

If you don’t want to deal with all of the questions about spamming and porn, just telling someone you design websites will usually be enough to throw them off your trail.  If people are particularly persistent with their questions, you can start to point out some examples of people who have been very successful making money online.

Don’t just use examples of famous Internet marketers like John Reese or Yanik Silver! Use some examples with verifiable “proof” in mainstream media.  For example, the famous “make money” blogger John Chow has a number of stories out there about him.

There’s also teenaged entrepreneur Ashley Squalls who has made mainstream news in a big way by making over $70,000 per month with advertising on her site that gives away MySpace layouts. And of course, the infamous Perez Hilton – a celebrity blogger who cashes in on the ad space his blog has.

You should try to realize that some people will just never understand what you do.  Try to explain it the best way you can, and if it doesn’t work, accept it.  Some people just won’t get it. If the in-laws or your spouse are nagging you because your money isn’t yet streaming in, and you feel pressured, put together a simple presentation that answers all of their questions and puts their minds at ease.

A Pair of Blog Resources to help speed things up

It’s no secret that search engines like Google take certain aspects such as a websites load time into consideration when deciding where to rank them within the SERPS or search engine ranking positions. Having a low (fast) load time then should be something we are all striving for when making tweaks and improvements to our blogs.

They estimate that the average user will only wait a maximum of four seconds for a website to load before becoming impatient, and clicking out to something new. Since you never know which visitor will result in a sale it’s probably a good thing to ensure you’re load time is below four seconds, and preferably as low as possible.

The first website I’m going to recommend is http://www.whichloadsfaster.com/ which allows you to compare the load times of not only your site, but also lets you match yourself against comparable sites. Remember, if you’re website has graphics and other features or aspects designed to improve the visitor experience, or simply to meet with your own goals, then comparing it to a site that is mostly text won’t be a fair comparison. Try finding a site that has a similar theme with similar features.

Here is a comparison I did between myself and John Chow. Since we both have a similar design, with a comparable amount of content, and we’re both using a content delivery network to speed things up our results should be fairly close. (Unless one or the other has an underlying issue).

Now from this run you can see we both came in around 3.6 seconds and over a ten run period I was slightly higher averaging 3.8 seconds to his 4. I’ve seen both our sites run as low as 2.3 and in fact he usually edges me out after a longer run set. It’s also important to note that his site receives a much higher volume of traffic which could play a role in the results. I believe John uses a dedicated server while I’m only using a VPS.

The second resource I use gives me way more in depth information on what exactly is slowing things down for my site. http://www.gtmetrix.com/ will not only test your load time, but even grade you using both Page Speed, and YSlow, as well as give you a timeline that outlines which processes in the load process are taking longer than you might like.

Looking at the above graph we can see that my load time was 3.09 seconds to download the 1.18MB of data from my server. My Page Speed score came in at 88% while my YSlow came in at only 72% which tells me I have some work to do in order to take my site to the next level as far as speed goes.

Now there are certain aspects that are going to remain outside of your control and limit exactly how far you can take this stream lining process. Accessing outside websites such as Facebook, Feedburner, or Twitter can add precious milliseconds to your time, but if those counts are something that happens to be important to you there isn’t much you can do.

It’s important to remember that this isn’t only about speed, but also about striking a balance between functionality, user experience, personal preference, and efficiency. If you’re 6 second load time blog is making you $3000.00 a month in advertising, but your 2 second ad free site is making nothing… well, you get the picture!

PS. For those of you who aren’t familiar with John Chow, he is a famous (he’d say infamous) blogger who makes money online telling others how to make money online.  Stop in and pay him a visit, he’s got a ton of information on his site, and there is something for everyone whether you’re an experienced internet marketer, or a new blogger just starting out.

Is Affiliate Marketing or Network Marketing Right For You?

Part I

There are many similarities between affiliate marketing and network, or multilevel marketing. Both benefit from online traffic generation techniques and both have many different products and services available for you to use to build your business. Most importantly, both can provide a handsome income for you.

But, how to choose between them? Some people go with Network Marketing, others go with afilliate… only you can answer what works for you, but here are some of the most important differences that may help you to decide.

Part I discusses affiliate marketing and Part II, to be published in a few days, discusses network marketing

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is the selling of products online and getting a commission on each sale. In some cases, you can develop affiliates under you where you also get a smaller commission on their sales, but primarily, you will make money only from your own efforts.

To be successful in this field, you must first find products or software that are worth selling, not only in terms of search volumes but also commission payments. The first requires research into what people are searching for online and which products will satisfy them. Typical sure fire fields with large search volumes are:

  • how to make money online
  • weight loss
  • relationship advice
  • health advice

The advantages selling into of a large market are offset by the difficulties of breaking through the existing competition for the relevant keywords that the searchers use to find what they want.

Many sophisticated affiliate marketers have discovered how to break large markets into smaller, more targeted niche markets where the number of searches in any given day are smaller but the chances of attracting a motivated searcher is higher. Niche markets can also be low search volume markets but enjoy a dedicated following, such as:

  • dog training
  • green products
  • self defense training
  • golf lessons

These true niche markets are very real opportunities to enjoy large commissions from low search volumes because these searchers want a solution to their particular concerns. These are not casual searches, they want help, they have money to spend with you, if you have the headline to attract their attention, the copy to prove that your offering satisfies their issue and the ability to deliver the product quickly.

So, after you have identified a market, or niche, how do you find products to sell? The two most popular are Commission Junction and Clickbank.  Other product sources exist on Amazon, eBay and dedicated distributors who will stock and drop ship their products on your behalf. Some will even offer payment services through their company and pay your commissions. Many CJ and Clickbank products will have a re-direct site to their PayPal account but some may expect your site to have a shopping cart service to accept payment from your customers. All ebook and most software products and online courses offer instant access to the products purchased by your customer after payment confirmation has been received from PayPal.

Looking at and analyzing commissions payments as you research products should be part of your selection process. After all, the point of this is to build a generous income for yourself, so pick the best product with the best commission program, even if there are better products available but with lower payouts to you.

Now, you are ready to buy a URL or several, based on the keyword research you did for finding your market and product. In general, you want to buy the long tail keyword as the URL as these sites will be recognized, sooner, by the major search engines as having the best match to the keywords entered by the searcher.

Once your site is built, you need to be noticed, and that means you need to drive traffic to your site. There are many, many, strategies to get results ranging from free traffic building with articles, blogs, videos, giveaway offers to paid strategies like Adwords and ezine advertising.

Finally, to earn a very large and stable income from affiliate marketing, you will need to build many sites with different products, with each site getting a few visitors each day and earning a small commission each day. This requires that you will continually research market search numbers and find products to fill those niches and have an adequate commission payout for you.

Most successful affiliate marketers have hundreds of mini sites that, combined, provide a large monthly income.

To escape that constant work of finding the next product to sell, you may wish to design your own products or software to offer to other affiliate marketers. This can provide a large and long lasting income base, if you create a great product, a generous commission plan and a large list of affiliate marketers who will act as super-affiliates and use their large email lists to promote them.

Summary of Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing offers you a large number of online products and physical products to market and sell. While the competition for keywords in the best markets is high, the imaginative marketer can either create differentiation for themselves in a large volume market or find profitable niche markets to exploit.

As an affiliate marketer, you are on your own in creating copy, web site, blogs, videos and other material to bring qualified traffic to your sites, and, you may have to build hundreds or even thousands of sites to truly have an ample recurring revenue stream. Or, you can create your own online products and develop relationships with existing, successful super affiliates who will market your products to their large email lists.

Are You Ready to Become a Professional Blogger

pro blogger

The idea of becoming a professional blogger is extremely appealing to many individuals. It means a welcomed departure from the daily grind of the “9 to 5” work world. Blogging also provides people with a creative outlet to write about the topics they’re passionate about.

But blogging is also hard work that requires specific skills before many can achieve success. Here are some important factors to take into serious consideration before you dive into the world of professional blogging.

Passion

For a successful blog, you’ll need to identify the topics you’re most passionate about and want to share through your writing. These topics must be ones that you can write about weekly, sometimes even daily. I blog about personal finance and credit cards because I’m passionate about the importance of financial literacy. If your passion starts to falter, it will come through in the quality of the posts. So be sure the topics you choose are ones that you’ll want to write about in a long-term capacity.

Time

To make sizable income, you will probably need to have several blogs that you are operating at any given time. Do you have the time in your schedule to keep three, four or even more blogs up to date?

Priorities

As the owner of your blogs, there will be days that you will work around the clock to ensure that the work is done. Think about your other current commitments, whether they’re other jobs, family, friends, hobbies or organizations in which you have membership. Are you willing to make sacrifices in these areas when necessary to ensure your blogs are up-to-date and properly marketed?

Desire to Learn

When you’re a professional blogger, you’re a perpetual student. Web technologies are constantly changing, and you’re going to need to be able to keep up with these changes to ensure your blog is cutting edge, featuring the best and newest capabilities.

You’ll also need to constantly research your blog topics so you can provide your readers with the latest information and trends.

Captivating writing

Blogs require more than great technical writing skills. They also require the ability to infuse personality into your posts. There are literally thousands of blogs to choose from and readers will quickly stray if your posts aren’t written in a fashion that holds their attention.

Ability to Handle Criticism

When you blog, you’re publishing your personal opinions for all to read. It will be impossible to win every reader over, so there are very high chances that you will receive some critical responses to your posts.

If you’re serious about professional blogging, you’ll have to have a thick skin and now how to respond to criticism without offending and losing readers.

Revenue Sources

Before you quite your day job, you’re going to want to have a solid revenue plan in place. This will likely require advertising in your blog.

Or, you can also become a professional blogger by contracting your writing ability out to companies who have blogs they want maintained. If you choose this route, you’ll need to be willing to alter your tone according to their branding standards.

Marketing

So you have a fabulous topic that you’re passionate about and you’ve fine-tuned your voice. Now you have to get readers to your blog. This is where marketing knowledge and a solid strategy will come into play. Before you dive into blogging, you’ll want to do your research and learn how to attract and retain readers.

Success Series Goal – Advertisers

Advertisers

Attracting advertisers to your blog is just one of the income streams that you’re able to develop in order to earn an income online. By taking the time to write high-quality posts and articles we then open ourselves up to higher traffic levels which advertisers tend to find attractive, especially when those visitors are niche specific or in an industry that is regularly in need of their services or products.

There are certain things that we can do to make it easier to attract advertisers to our site, and one of those is to ensure that we have an advertising page set up for them with statistics, locations, pricing and availability, and don’t forget to include a method for ordering.

Having a dedicated advertising page streamlines the entire process for you. It not only tells the potential advertiser that your blog does accept advertising offers, but it then goes into details about pricing traffic statistics, and contact information all at a glance.

You can choose to handle the advertising yourself using plug-ins like OIO-Publisher, or you can go with an ad agency who typically take anywhere from 25 to 50% for acting on your behalf. The good thing about going with agency is that they typically have access to a wider pool of potential advertisers who might be interested in listing on your site. I personally use buysellads.com, and have been for the past four weeks and enjoying the hands-off approach to dealing with advertisers.

Obviously, the more advertisers that you can attract to your website, the more income you can generate each month, so it’s important to try to not only try and attract new ones, but also to keep your existing advertisers happy, after all they too are in this for branding purposes as well as to make sales for their products or services.

For me advertising is one of the income streams I rely on each month, so it’s easy to see why it made it into my “Success Book” and its list of goals. The more advertisers, and the higher the quality of those advertisers will reflect directly on the income that I’m able to make.

Ideally I’d like to keep advertising revenues around 20% of the total income generated by the blog, so for a $3000.00 month I’d have to sell $600, and for a $30,000 month, I’d need to generate $6000.00 from advertising efforts.

It’s important to establish early on just what your priorities are for your site so that you can keep focused and on track. You wouldn’t believe how easy it is to get side tracked on something that isn’t productive, or in line with your goals.

Personally I ranked each area that was important to me, and to the growth of this blog, and assigned them a number with 1 being the most important. (There can only be one most important goal)

1.       Information – Now what this means is that the number one goal of this site is to provide people like yourself with information that relates to internet marketing, and building your own online business.

2.       Branding – Since the new kid on the block, I had to establish a presence with my site, my logo, my fan page, Twitter, etc. I’ve invested time and a ton of energy into building up a brand that thousands and thousands of people can recognize. Over time as I achieve my goals, these priorities will change position, and flex with my business and its development.

3.        Lead Generation – I’ve written a high quality e-book titled “E-Business; “The Insider’s Edge” and rather than selling it, I chose to give it away to my audience in exchange for their email address. I’ve then made it easy for them to opt in at multiple points of contact they might have with my site, and then can start sending them information (remember priority #1?) that is related to our industry, and when I include an affiliate link to a product I’m discussing they are more likely to purchase through it if it’s something they happen to be in the market for, or that they feel would be of benefit to them.

4.       Ad Revenue – Now in order to live; feed, and cloth myself I do still need to generate an income, and part of that income is going to come from advertisers, who promote their own sites, products, or services on mine in exchange for a monthly fee.

5.       Sales Revenue – Now this can come from selling my own products like Blog Traffic Tactics, or selling affiliate products that tie in with our industry. I use tools like Market Samurai, or Tweet Attacks on a daily basis in order to be as productive as possible, and many of my readers are in similar situations. An easy way to reward a blogger for providing great information day in and day out is to purchase something you are planning to purchase anyway, through their affiliate link. You get your product, they make a commission, and you’ve now contributed in part to their success.

Now just because Sales are listed last doesn’t mean that they aren’t important to me, on the contrary it absolutely is. Money means freedom, shelter, food, time to learn, time to invent, opportunities, charities, and so much more. It’s just that I set my goals up this way in order to build a solid foundation first with which to grow upon. I’m now starting my second year, and my priorities will start to change as I move into my “growth” year.

Launching your own business is the best feeling in the world! It’s a lot of hard work, and creative thinking, as well as never ending need to learn and know more about your chosen niche or topic, but the feeling you get from your accomplishments are also never ending.

If you are starting or considering starting your own e-business, make sure to grab a copy of my free e-book. It’s filled with some great information that I still use today!

Launching an E-Business

E-Business; "The Insider's Edge"

Are you still thinking about launching an online business and getting into the internet marketing arena where you can choose to either subsidize your current income, or perhaps replace it entirely?

I’d like to help!

First things first! I’ve written a seventy-nine page e-book that will help guide you through the process from the beginning to the end. Some of the topics covered are:

-          Starting a business

-          Choosing a niche

-          Researching

-          Monetization

-          Developing a business plan

-          Building a website

-          SEO

-          Ad Words

-          Relationship building

-          And much more!

My business model has always been to earn a living while helping others to do the same, so the very first thing I did was to make this book available to absolutely everyone for free so that they too could get started in the highly lucrative world that is internet marketing.

There is a bar at the top of this page, or an opt in box at the side where you can enter your email address and I’ll not only send you a copy of the book for free, but also follow up with you weekly to try and help keep you on track with the lessons in the book. Remember knowledge won’t make you money, it’s the application of that knowledge that will!

There is a lot of hype and promises in the online world, and because of the lure of easy money many are attracted to those offers. The truth (in my humble opinion) is that you have to meet several criteria in order to make an honest and lucrative living online.

Criteria #1: You need to have an idea or concept for just how you intend to make money online. This can be as simple as launching a blog like this one, and monetizing it, or as creative (yet still simple) as launching a social network trading system like Twiends. Many people choose to try out multiple ideas and most likely learn something from each of them.

Criteria #2: You need to do your homework! Research the competition, as well as the market. Locate the hangouts of your potential clients, and visitors you intend to market too. Are you planning to piggyback off of someone else’s traffic, (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) or are you going to drive them to your offer by giving away content? There is much to learn, but knowing what you need to do in order to succeed is half the battle!

Criteria #3: You need to set goals and achieve them constantly. Each goal is a step on the entrepreneur’s journey that brings you closer to the business success you’re most likely searching for. An individual without goals is lost, and unless you are following someone else, are also unlikely to arrive at any destination other than a random one.

Criteria #4: You need to apply consistent effort and promotion toward the goals you’ve chosen as important to your businesses success. There will come a day when you can relax and enjoy the fruits of your labours, but that might not be for a couple of years. The important thing is to not give up. It will come!

I hope you enjoy the book, and please if you have any questions or need any advice I’d be more than happy to give you some direction. Leave a comment anywhere on the site, and I’ll usually respond within 24 hours. Good luck to each and every one of you!

Some Ideas for 2011

As we enter into a brand new year filled with ideas and possibilities I thought I’d share a few of the ones I’ve been pondering the last few days in the hopes that they might prompt some of you to go out and accomplish them along side of me. I generally set way more goals and write out more ideas than I can possibly achieve in the hopes that even if I get some of them accomplished I will be way ahead of the game.

Idea’s without action are just dreams and nothing more, so I hope that by writing them out here for all to see, I might just be inclined to achieve even more of them than usual. Here is a list of ideas for this year ahead.

1.       Write a comprehensive EBook on driving traffic to your blog to sell.

2.       Develop a comprehensive 12 hour video course outlining an internet marketing training course.

3.       Launch a forum and grow it to 2000 members by year end.

4.       Start a 2nd blog (The Earning Success Project) and get it to under 60,000 Alexa

5.       Launch a twitter training online video course to market.

6.       Sell off unwanted domains and websites. (collecting too many)

7.       I’d like to grow my RSS subscribers to 3000+

8.       Launch a membership site.

9.       Launch a backlink membership site.

10.   Add another 365 internet marketing articles to PLR Internet Marketing.

11.   Double my income.

12.   Hire an employee to help with running these sites of mine.

As you can see I’ve chosen twelve goals, and none of them are particularly easy, some can be accomplished in a month, others will take the entire year to pull off, while still others are going to be a stretch for me to achieve (doubling my income).

Each one of these steps will help with furthering my online reach, and build up my online business ensuring stability for me and my family, while also ensuring the mobility factor.

When I first set out to launch a business I made a point of stipulating that it had to be something I could do from anywhere in the world, be it my home, vacation, a coffee shop, or just about anywhere else in the world.

Writing the blog traffic EBook will allow me an additional source of income, as well as it is something that I can sell through the Clickbank marketplace which will allow me to harness the power of other affiliates. It also allows me to set myself apart from other internet marketers and be seen as an expert in my field because I will take my time to write a comprehensive book that will give bloggers a ton of valuable information in a clear, concise writing style.

Developing a twelve hour internet marketing training course does that same thing as the EBook, and provides me with an additional income stream, and again gives me a chance to show off my expertise, it also is a much higher ticket item to sell, which is important to me.

Launching the forum has been something I’ve wanted to do for a while now, and I’ve since purchased the Marketers Space Forum www.marketersspaceforum.com because I see it as a great way to connect with likeminded individuals, and learn from them and also share my thoughts and successes with them.
The internet marketing world isn’t as big as you might think, but it is growing. With the help of internet marketing forums we can build ourselves an online meeting place where we all share our collective knowledge about the different areas that we earn from. Please join us there, and stop in and say hello, I’m Dadelius in there.

I launched the Earning Success Project two days ago as my 2nd blog www.earningsuccess.com because I think it would be great to show the growth of a blog live, as its happening. I’m going to share blogging tips over there, but more importantly I’m going to detail every step of the blogs life as well as the earnings it makes.  Readers can see just how long it takes to make its first dollar, and where that dollar came from. It also allows them to see just how we develop those income streams to turn one dollar into two, and so on. I’m also going to show full transparency where mistakes are made, and just what steps were taken to correct those mistakes. (Something I wish someone had shown me)

I have a twitter domain (empty at the moment) where I would like to create some training video’s that walk people through the process of getting up and running with twitter, and making some money from that source as well. I would like this site to be fairly self-contained and require very little from me once it’s set up.

Selling off my unwanted domains and websites is just a way for me to simplify my life. I’m tired of ignoring 25 websites and focusing on just a few, so I’m going to choose ten to devote my time and energies to, and sell off the rest, or simply let them expire.

More and more I’m seeing the traffic that comes in via my RSS subscribers, and while I just let it do its own thing in the beginning I’d like to work on building that number up over this coming year.

I’ve been spending some time lately on Yaro Starak’s site www.Entrepreneurs-Journey.com, which is a great resource for marketers and entrepreneurs, and after reading some of his advice on membership sites, I think it is something I’d like to explore further, so I’m going to start putting some of my content aside (perhaps the internet marketing course I’m working on) and turn it into an online membership site and instead of selling it for $500.00 I will simply offer that content and more available to members for a monthly fee instead, and see how that goes.

Adding another 365 articles is in line with my goals already, I always intended to write once a day for my readers and this is another way of confirming that with myself. Occasionally I double up, or miss days, but would like to end this year with a full count.

Doubling my income is something that I think I can achieve as my business is only in its infancy and I know that I can offer up a lot more value and services and grow my current level of income, so that is one of my goals this year. I’m sure I’ll set it again next year, and try and double that number again! LOL

Hiring an assistant to help with content, link building, research, etc. will go a long way to driving my progress even further. It’s hard going it alone, and hopefully by the end of this year, I’ll be able to accomplish this goal and lighten my load somewhat.

So there you have it, you all know where I’m heading this coming year, and while I will also be setting numerous other goals that need to be achieved along the way (converting all posts into podcasts) I’d like to invite you all to keep an eye on me and hold me accountable. It only takes a moment to leave a comment of encouragement, or piece of advice and I love hearing from all of you.

Here’s to a great year ahead!

The Appeal of Making Money Online

internet marketing

Why is it that so many people flock to the internet in the hopes of making some easy money? Is it that they think there really is such a thing as push button marketing? I guess in a way there is. Someone visits your website, clicks the buy it now button and purchases something you have for sale, and presto you make some money!

What they don’t see is the pre-game warm-up, all of the hard work that goes before the sale. The research that went into the niche they chose the keyword research that they undertook in order to ensure they were focusing on the highest traffic keywords, with the least amount of competition. How about the competitor research? That’s always fun,  comparing your brand new site against websites that have been online for the last ten years, and have an advertising budget in the neighborhood of about a million dollars a year! That was a website that I was competing against for the keyword Internet Marketing, they were ranked number two (after Wikipedia) and I was ranked nowhere. I did my research, and learnt that they had spent over eight hundred thousand in online advertising last year alone! How the heck do you compete with that? (I’m currently ranked number 8 for that term, and number one for many others) and not because of 800k, but because of smart, hard work that I did myself!

So what is the appeal of making money online if so much work goes into the pre-game warm-up? I’d have to say that it’s the thrill of residual income. The earning money while you sleep part. I just love those emails from Clickbank, or PayPal telling me that I made money at some point during the night while I slept! It’s the thrill of knowing that some of the affiliate programs that I promote will continue to pay me for months, and years to come as my down line continues to pay their monthly Aweber, or Hostgator bill. These are just a couple of the reasons that I love internet marketing.

There is also the fact that tomorrow I can wake up whenever I feel like it, and I can build backlinks, or create content for my website, or add new assets to my business in so many different ways, whether it be in the form of Twitter followers, or Facebook fans, or simply adding chapters to my EBook that I intend to include in the Clickbank marketplace.

There is also the fact that I have met some of the most powerful online personalities in the online world either directly or indirectly and you might think that all of the internet marketing knowledge is held in their hands, but it isn’t by a long shot! I’ve met some of the people who have come up with some new and incredible ideas that are changing the way the internet works, and I have to say that I am the better for it! There is some amazing talent online, and if you only listen to what some of them have to say, you’ll be the better for it, and your business will benefit from it as well!

I make money online each, and every single day, and while it was nowhere near as easy as I was lead to believe, it is definitely worth it for me, and I will never willingly change it back to the way it was!
