Is Affiliate Marketing or Network Marketing Right For You? – Part II

Network Marketing

Now, lets take a look at network marketing and its differences from affiliate marketing. Network marketing is in its infancy online. Most network, or multilevel, marketers build their businesses offline through personal contacts or offline advertising like classified ads and local flyers, even flee markets and local athletic events such as marathons and high school sports.

So, the opportunity to get in front of other network marketers who are just now starting the move to online businesses is high. This does not mean an easy or a necessarily quick path to a good income for you, but it has the potential for less sophisticated competition in your market niche than you will find in affiliate marketing.

Next, the ability to earn a generous income in network marketing comes from attracting and recruiting business builders and less from pure product sales. The highest incomes in network marketing comes from leaders who took full advantage of the compensation plans that reward finding, recruiting, training and supporting others who want a good life from the high recurring incomes that are possible in this business.

That’s not to say that product sales are not important as you build your business, they are. Product sales are the only source of income in legitimate network marketing companies. Keep that in mind as you select which one you will use to build your business.

Product sales serve as an additional recruiting tool for building your network marketing business as your customers form bonds with the products from having good experiences and getting comments from friends and family as they lose weight, look healthier from skin care, feel healthier from wellness products, etc..

This is more true with consumable products such as health and wellness, skin care and green household products than with service offerings such as telephone, internet and legal services, but nonetheless product users are a source of business builder prospects that is not available in most affiliate marketing offerings as there is less opportunity to build a recurring user base.

There are many network marketing companies offering many different products and services. Like the research necessary in finding the right affiliate products, you will also need to do your homework here. Unfortunately, the compensation plans of network marketing can be very complex and, seemingly, impossible to understand, so you must be very attentive to this aspect of choosing which company to represent.

From a marketing perspective, established network marketing companies will have product material and business recruiting material for you to use as a base for web site copy, blogs and articles, this is not usually the case with most affiliate marketing products.

In a successful online network marketing business, hundreds of mini sites are not necessary. A recruiting site, or a few at most, product sites and effective whitehat traffic generation techniques are sufficient to provide a large and recurring income for you to have the time to enjoy your life.

The site architecture is also different between the two systems. Effective affiliate sites can be simple direct selling sites with an eye catching headline, compelling copy, testimonials and many calls to action spread throughout the site, along with a prominently positioned product satisfaction guarantee.

The architecture of an effective network marketing site is as much a relationship and trust building vehicle as it is a selling site. The need for a deep level of trust in these sites is higher because the perceived consequences of the commitment are higher. Training a new business builder takes time and trust must be established before a prospective business builder will make the financial and emotional commitment to the business leader and the business itself.

Summary

Both affiliate marketing and network marketing can provide large and stable incomes for the people willing to do what is necessary for success. While the differences are less stark than the similarities, each appeals to a different kind of entrepreneur. One, affiliate marketing, draws raw individualists who have no fear of failure and hard work to create the hundreds even thousands of sites to provide them with the independence they crave.

The other, network marketing, appeals to entrepreneurs who want independence and a generous income, but who prefer a more cooperative effort with like minded people and the long lasting professional and personal relationships that are integral to having success in this field. Which one is right for you?

Success Series Goal – Product Reviews

product reviews

A large portion of a bloggers income comes in via affiliate products that he either reviews directly or discusses in a blog post indirectly. For example if I’m writing about how to back up your website using your Hostgator CPanel admin area, it’s only natural to include a link to Hostgator, and since I’ve been using them for years and have no problem recommending them as my number one choice for hosting including an affiliate link is a no brainer.

One area that I see myself as being weak in is the fact that I’ve spent very little time over the last year promoting affiliate products and instead focused only on serving up informative articles. I need to strike a healthy balance between the two, because while my readers come by for the content, I’m sure they understand my need to earn a living as well, and by telling them about the products and services that I’ve personally tried, or am using can help them decide whether or not they want to invest in that product/service.

I think for every seven articles that I write on blogging, affiliate marketing, internet marketing, social media, and such I can include one that talks about one of the tools I use with my own business, and include an affiliate link without offending any of my readers. The problem is I haven’t been and my revenues reflect that.

A large part of my time is spent reviewing my competitors’ products, and learning what I want to incorporate into my business, and what I’d like to avoid at all costs. An honest review of a product could help someone who has an interest in it to make the final decision to either a. purchase it or b. pass it over and keep looking for something that will better suit there needs.

Since I’m now in my second year, and this is my “growth” year, I need to focus a little more time and effort on sharing my opinions on a larger number of online products. Ultimately I’d like to have 50 – 100 product reviews completed over the course of the next 12 – 24 months. I think the added income will go a long way toward allowing me to not only reinvest my earning back into my business, but also start pulling a wage from it as well.

Up until this point I’ve used my earnings to build a foundation for my business so that I have a solid position with which to start launching products, services, reviews and such, and I knew going in that I wanted to build something solid and of substance that would continue to grow for many years to come.

Want a New Car?

car payment

How many of you could find a use for an extra four or five hundred dollars a month? If you knew that you were ignoring a revenue stream that could easily create an extra five hundred dollars each month, and continue to grow as you grew your business would you consider it? What if I told you it was primarily a passive income that would grow along side of your blog running mainly on auto pilot? Now I’m not telling you that there is no work involved, but I’m telling you that it isn’t as hard or complicated as some might think.

I’m talking about email marketing, growing your list while continuing to write for, and promote your existing blog or website. Investing the time to offer your visitors an incentive for signing up to receive your emails is something that will continue to pay for itself for many years to come.

By gathering just ten subscribers per day (which is an easily attainable number) you will quickly reach 1200 subscribers, usually within four or five months, the reason for this is because you will likely have some unsubscribe after they have downloaded the free gift you are offering in exchange for their address, don’t worry, this is the nature of the business unfortunately.

With 1200 subscribers in your Aweber account that you can now start building a relationship with, as well as start marketing to, you will be able to generate an income that runs alongside of whatever your blog or website currently earns with advertising, or affiliate income. The average subscriber is worth about ten to twelve dollars a year, even if you only achieve half that number in the beginning, you’ll still be able to generate an extra $500.00 each month with your list. Over time as you learn the intricacies of email marketing this number will grow, and you will of course be adding to your list each and every month as well.

So what can you offer to your visitors in order for them to leave their email address behind in order for you to be able to reach out and contact them later on? Well, you could invest the time and resources in creating an EBook that fits with the theme of your blog, or website and offer it out to them in exchange. Generally these will do better than simple reports that many people are offering. You could put together an e-course and have it go out via auto responder sequence to them after they sign up. Often other marketers will even let you use their EBooks as giveaways until you can come up with your own. You of course can’t make any changes to the EBook, as the reason they let you give it away to your readers is so that they can get their name out there, as well as they usually have a handful of affiliate links contained within the book. But this is still a good deal for you, as you get a quality written book, generally by an expert in your field who is already well known, and they might make a few dollars if one of those people who downloads it makes a purchase through one of the affiliate links.

For anyone in the internet marketing niche, feel free to download my EBook “E-Business; The Insider’s Edge” and use it for a giveaway on your site until you are able to write your own. The only thing I ask is that you keep it intact, as I did invest 3 months into putting this resource together.

To start growing your email list today, head over to Aweber and get started today, and before you know it you’ll be enjoying just one more source of revenue each and every month.

Can I make Money Blogging?

make money blogging

It seems that no matter where you turn these days there is someone touting a new make money blogging product, and at the rate they are springing up you might be inclined to believe them. I thought I’d write today to share my thoughts on the subject, as well as discuss where I think it’s heading in the future.

Money is great! It helps keep the world moving on a perpetual basis. It promotes creativity and inspires us to try new things to earn more of it. We learn from a very young age the power of money, and what it can (and can’t) buy for us. We also learn that it goes out much easier than it comes in… or does it?

A young girl heads down to the local cell phone store, and within in just a few short minutes is able order her very own telephone number with which to chat and text with her fellow classmates and friends. She also effectively ensures that $50.00 will be deducted from her account for the next three years regularly, like clockwork.

What if you could walk into a store and have them send you $50.00 for the next three years?  Would you be interested in a store like that?

Blogging isn’t really a whole lot different than talking on a telephone, it is a form of communicating, however instead of talking to just one person, you are reaching out to a much larger audience. However unlike a cell phone where the more time you invest into talking on it, the higher your bill will become, with a blog, the more time you invest in it, the more people you will start to reach, and the more money you will make on an ongoing basis.

The first month of this blog’s life saw about 30 visitors a day that came in from my promotional efforts. The total visitor count for that period was 925 and yet I was able to earn $25.00 from Google’s AdSense, and an additional $25.00 from Clickbank for selling a product I had tried and written about. It was at this point that I decided I wanted to do this full time for a living. (I was working in management at a national company here in Canada at the time).

So to answer the title of this post, yes you can make money blogging. Quite easily in fact, however most of you will be like myself and want more. I mean why not, I blog about a topic I love so it is hardly like work, I wake up when I want, sleep when I want, and vacation when I want. (To be honest I still write while I’m vacationing, but I could easily write them ahead of time and schedule them to go out while I’m away if I wanted).

If it’s possible to make $50.00 the very first month, then surely it must be possible to grow that with constant care and attention. So what steps are required in order to grow that into something that you can live off, two thousand, three thousand, ten thousand dollars a month?

Persistence and consistency

If you are going to try and make money through blogging then you’ll have to commit to treating it like a business. You need to devote a portion of your time to it each day, researching and writing posts, finding offers to promote, dealing with guest bloggers, locating advertisers and so much more.  You will also spend a great deal of time promoting it, and driving traffic to it, as well as managing the social media aspect of it, Twitter, Facebook, Comments, etc.

If you truly want to make money blogging, then I’m here to tell you that you truly can do it!

Attracting Advertisers to your Blog

Advertising on your blog

Blogging is a great outlet for expression of thoughts and ideas, but for many of you reading my blog, you’d like to take it to the next level and actually earn some money with your blog. Some of you will simply be looking for a couple of hundred extra dollars a month to pay server and other online costs, while still others will be looking to make thousands a month doing something that they love and are passionate about.

For the first group, you can probably make enough money without selling advertising space on your blog, but for the second, it’s an income stream that shouldn’t be overlooked. If you look at some of the top earning blogs like Lifehacker, Techcrunch, and Mashable, you’ll notice that their major source of income is coming from banner advertising. These sites are making millions of dollars each and every year; let’s pretend they know what they’re doing, because I think they just might!

Sure these sites are at the top of the food chain, but you can learn a lot from these guys that will help you to earn with your own site. One thing you’ll notice if you visit any of these sites is they all have a prominent advertising page complete with statistics on how much traffic they each receive, awards won, prices and commitment, and all the info needed for potential advertisers to make an informed decision about whether or not they want (or can) advertising space on their sites.

Once your blog hits a certain level of traffic, you’ll start getting requests for advertising and if you don’t wish to be answering the same questions over and over, you might want to set up an advertising page on your blog to answer some of the most common questions that advertisers might have.

It’s a good idea to give statistics like unique visitors a month and how many page views your site receives and where you’re getting your traffic data from. Most advertisers will prefer it is coming from Google Analytics because it is much more accurate than some others like Awstats, or other built in stat programs your server might have. Don’t be afraid to mention any awards you’ve won or been recognized in the past for, or any other items of interest to prospective advertisers.

Listing acceptable types of media is also important, list the banner sizes that are available and there locations within your site, are they site wide, on the homepage? You get the idea; also if you don’t want certain types of banners, you might want to mention that also.

Some people prefer to put the price right on the advertising page, while others prefer to keep it private. I would rather have them know up front what is required of them financially so they can make an informed decision based on the information provided.

Here are some stats that a potential advertiser might be interested in looking at, you can decide which to implement into your site:

-          Unique visitors you get each month and which source this information was pulled from.

-          Page views you receive each month.

-          Page Rank might be something to mention

-          Alexa ranking

-          Technorati score

-          Awards your blog has won

-          Honorable mentions regarding your blog

-          Number of RSS subscribers

-          Number of Twitter followers if this is a strength

-          Number of fans of Facebook (lends itself to social proof)

-          Prices for each banner as well as the locations and sizes.

-          Average number of comments if that is a strength

-          Average number of Retweets your site receives.

-          Any addition bonuses that might be included

-          Tell them why they should advertise with you; make it as easy as possible.

-          How to order.

-          And anything else that you think might be relevant or lend itself to more sales.

I won’t go into when is the proper time to advertise on your blog, because that is another discussion in and of itself, and tends to be a controversial one. Suffice to say, I believe that if it is your intention to make money with your blog, and you’re going to implement ads into it sooner or later, then you might as well get your reader used to seeing them there rather than pop them in after you’ve built up a loyal base of readers. (People generally don’t like change)

My site had ads right from the beginning and they started making money right from the beginning which allows me to write the posts I write, do the research, put out products and eBooks related to my topic, all of which is made possible by the money that this site makes.

My readers know that the right side contains navigation, widgets, and advertising space, and the left side contains the articles, I’ve separated the two as much as possible because I want to provide the best possible experience for my visitors, but at the same time, if my readers are in the market for an internet marketing product I’d also like them to click through from my site as well, it’s a mutually beneficial relationship.

Advertising on your Blog

Advertising on your Blog

If you have a blog, you may have considered the possibility of adding advertising space to it in order to make a few bucks on the side. However, you may or may not know that a blog can be a reliable source of income, and some people support themselves entirely by operating one or even more blogs with advertising space on them. It is becoming more and more common for people that want to work from home to make money blogging. Turning your blog into a source of income is easier than you think, and here we’ll go over a few internet marketing tricks you can use to sell advertising space on your blog, as well as how to get the most money out of it.

The first step in making money from your blog is to increase the number of users that read it. Even if you have a substantial number of regular users, the more readers you draw in the more money you will make from your advertisements. One of the best ways to increase your readership is, simply, to create more content. Blogs with more content are more likely to appear early on in search engine results pages, making your blog more visible. Promoting your blog on forums, sending links to friends, and other similar tactics will also increase the number of incoming links and people that visit your site.

There are a few different kinds of online advertisements, and which type you host can make a significant difference in the amount of money you make. Firstly, there is pay per impression, or PPI, advertising. PPI advertisements provide a small amount of money for each time a user visits the page and loads the advertisement. These types of advertisements pay so little because of the low chance that a user will actually interact with the ad, but a high volume of traffic and a steady flow of users guarantees that the ads will pay. This type of ad is ideal for blogs that have lots of readers.

Another type of online marketing ad is CPA, or cost per action. Cost per action advertisements only pay the host when a user actually performs a predetermined action, such as buying a products or filling out a survey. However, these ads pay significantly more than PPI ads when this action is completed, so many blogs rely on incentives for their readers to perform the action.

Work from Home – How to Identify Work from Home Scams

Work From Home Scams

Work from home jobs are highly sought after. This is not surprising, as there are many people who want to earn or supplement an income from the comfort of their own home. The benefits to working at home are obvious. Because of this, scam artists regularly target people looking for jobs that they can do at home. This means that job seekers will need to wade through scams if they expect to get anywhere in their search for a real job. What follows should help you to understand how you can protect yourself if you are seeking a job you can perform from your own home.

There are many different types of scams. However, because of the nature of any sort of work from home scam, it is possible to immediately recognize many of them if you know what to look for. First, you should be wary of any job that claims to hire anyone. Jobs with no standards tend to fill up quickly, so if you see one, it is almost certainly a scam. Additionally, you should be wary of any company that does not have contact information and a method of doing business and gaining an income.

Other ways to protect yourself exist as well. You should always avoid jobs that seem to have an unreasonably high degree of pay, particularly if they involve little work. This should be an immediate red flag that lets you know something is wrong, as real jobs do not work that way. In addition to this, you should never accept a job offer that requires you to pay money for the privilege of working. Even if the money seems like a temporary cost that you will earn back later, this job is really a scam. By following these rules, you will keep yourself safe and benefit in the long term as you search for a work from home job.

It is clear that many jobs offered are actually only scams. However, there are legitimate job offers out there. In order to get these real jobs, you will need to deal with and avoid scams. If you want to work from home, this is the reality that you must deal with. Fortunately, there are many sources of information on how to avoid scams that you can read for further research. On a subject like this where your money is at stake, you can never have too much information.

It’s Time to Make Money with Your Blog

make money blogging

Have you ever thought about how you can turn your blog into a source of income? There are lots of ways to do so, and regardless of what you write about or how many readers you have, you can start using your blog to bring in money. In fact, running a blog (or even more than one) is an easy way to make money while you sleep, although it does require a little effort and marketing savvy to get started. Here, we’ll go over some of the more common ways people are turning their blogs into money making machines, as well as how you can get started doing just that.

Selling advertising space is one of the easiest and most common ways to make your blog into a reliable source of income. The amount of money you can make from ad space depends on a few key factors. Namely, the amount of traffic you get, the number of ads you have on a given page, and the type of ads you have. There are a few different types of online ads that you might want to consider.

First off, there is pay per impression (PPI) advertising, which pays a small amount of money every time a page containing an ad is loaded by a user. Typically, it takes thousands of page views to generate any kind of income with this type of advertising, because the number of users that even looks at, let alone interact with, these ads are fairly low. Secondly, there is CPA advertising, also known as cost per impression advertising. This means that the ad only pays out when a user fulfills the required action, such as filling out an online survey or buying a product. These ads pay out significantly more than pay per impression ads, but do so less frequently.

Turning your blog into a way to work from home is often as simple as hosting a few advertisements on it. It’s easy to make money blogging when you know the right tools to use. Another such tool is affiliate marketing, which essentially allows your blog to act as a middle man between consumers and vendors. Every time someone follows a link from your blog and purchases a product from your sponsor, you are given a percentage of the profits as commission. You can use these and other tools to make money from your blog.
