Reasons Why You Keep Losing Twitter Followers

Reasons Why You Keep Losing Twitter Followers

Are you tired of losing more and more Twitter followers every day? You don’t have to lose them but it will require you to change what you are doing. What most people don’t realize is the reason they are losing Twitter followers is because they are the ones doing something wrong. I know you don’t want to believe it but this is a common thing that Twitter users do and unless you figure out what you are doing wrong you will keep losing the followers that you have.

Reasons You Are Losing Followers

Too Many Tweets

How many Tweets to you do every day? Are you doing too many that your followers are getting tired of seeing your updates? A lot of people Tweet too many times but if you are Tweeting things that people like, then keep doing it. Just know that some people would prefer to see fewer Tweets so make sure you figure out what your followers like the most.

Repeat Following

Do you follow and then unfollow a lot of people on a daily basis? It might be a bad idea to follow hundreds of people in a single day and that is why a lot of people will stop following you. Although this is a great way to get more followers, your actual followers might not like it. Just know that it would be better to get your followers the right way as opposed to using the system to get as many followers as you can.

No Profile

Do you have a profile on your Twitter account? If you are not using your profile to actually say what you talk about, then people will start to unfollow you. The problem that I see quite a bit is that Twitter users will add a profile that doesn’t even represent what they will be Tweeting. Just do yourself and your followers a favor and create a Twitter profile that shows what you will be Tweeting.

Affiliate Links

How many affiliate links do you post on your Twitter account? Do you add an affiliate link every few hours or do you place affiliate links every week or so? The amount of affiliate links that you Tweet will make a huge difference in the amount of people that follow you. My advice is to make sure that you are using affiliate links sparingly because this is one of the worst things that you can use in a Tweet.

Constant Replies

Are you constantly replying to Tweets other people do? Do you use hashtags whenever possible? These might be the reason for you losing your Twitter followers. The problem with putting @XXXX in your Tweet is that most people won’t know what you are talking about, this goes for hashtags too. If you want to keep the following that you have, then you need to use replies and hashtags sparingly. Trust me on this one, this is a common reason people will unfollow you. I know this for a fact because this is one of the reasons I will unfollow people as well. Most people don’t like to see a bunch of gibberish so make sure that whatever you are writing will make sense to everybody that is reading it.

Being that Twitter is a great way to get more traffic to your website you need to use it but make sure you are aware of what you are doing. I know that there is a lot of stuff that you are worried about right now but Twitter should not be one of them.

If you’d like to follow us, and receive tips and tweets on internet marketing, blogging, and work from home topics I’d be more than happy to have you. Twitter.com/plrnetmarketing has grown to close to 60,000 followers and I appreciate each and every one of you!

Easy Ways To Make Money With SponsoredTweets

sponnsoredtweets

Have you ever heard of SponsoredTweets.com before? If you have not heard of this, then you are in for a treat. The reason I want to talk about SponsoredTweets.com today is because it is extremely simple to make money using it. For instance, the queen of Twitter, Kim Kardashian is said to make as much as $25,000 per tweet when somebody sponsors her.

How would you like to get in on that money making machine?

So how does it work you are probably wondering?

It is pretty simple, all you need to do is get yourself a decent sized following on Twitter and then signup to offer sponsored tweets through SponsoredTweets.com. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well there is a little more to it than that.

One of the things that you need to understand is that a responsive twitter following is very important. If you can tweet something and a good percentage of your following clicks the link or does what you ask, then you have a responsive following. The reason why this is important is because some people will want to make sure you have decent FAR (follower activation rate) score. If you have a rate of 10, then everybody is responsive on your list and because of that you can charge more for your tweets.

Now I know this seems to be too good to be true but the truth is that anybody can do this. All you need to do is start building your Twitter following and make your list more responsive. In order to do this there are some things that you need to know and that is what I am going to teach you right now.

4 Ways To Make Easy Money With SponsoredTweets.com

Get More Followers

The first thing that you need to do is quite simple, you need more followers. Whether you have 100,000 or just 1,000 followers doesn’t matter right now, what matters is that you keep growing your list. The reason you need more followers is because people like to have a huge list to market to and the bigger the list the better.

Tweet Relevant Things

Another way to make easy money is to tweet relevant things. If you want to make money with SponsoredTweets.com, then it is imperative that you don’t promote something that is not relevant to your following. For instance, with the PLRNetmarketing I would not want to promote a sale on dentures because you, my following, wouldn’t want to know about that. This is why tweeting something that is relevant to your following is a must, both for you and the sponsor.

Get Retweeted

Another thing that you need to do is ask for Retweets. The reason why you want to do this is because this will help increase your FAR score. What you need to understand is the more followers you have and the higher your FAR score is, the more money you can charge. Asking to be Retweeted is not that difficult and that is why I highly recommend asking every once and a while. While we are on this subject, do me a favor and Retweet this so that more people are aware of what SponsoredTweets.com can do for them.

Promote Your Twitter Account

The last thing that you need to do in order to make easy money with SponsoredTweets.com is to promote your Twitter account. The reason why you need to do this is for a couple of reasons. The first reason is so that you can get more followers and the second reason is so that more people see your tweets. Just remember, the more people that you can get to follow you and read your tweets, the better.

Out of all the ways people are trying to make money with Twitter, this is probably one of the easiest things you can do. The reason I say this is because it doesn’t take a genius to get more followers on Twitter and the next thing you need to do is just sign up for an account at SponsoredTweets.com.

Before you go ahead let me ask you one thing – Out of all the different ways to make money online, do you know of anything easier that simply tweeting a message and getting paid for it?

How to get 50,000 Twitter Followers

Twitter Followers

I recently celebrated my 50,000th follower on Twitter, and thought I’d share the various techniques I used to accomplish it, to help others who might still be struggling to grow their own social network.

Engage with not only the followers you have, but also the ones you don’t. A great way to build a loyal following is to actively seek out users who have questions that fall into your area of expertise. By helping others with questions, or problems that may seem inconsequential to you, might just have saved the other party hours of searching for and implementing a solution that you yourself know off by heart!

“It is by helping others, that we help ourselves”

Set goals for yourself in all areas of life and business, including those that surround your social media targets. If it’s important to have 10,000, 50,000 or 100,000 followers, it most likely isn’t going to happen by accident. (Unless you also star on a daytime television show) By setting goals and tracking them on a regular basis you’ll be monitoring and adjusting your progress, as well as seeking out new methods to try in case you aren’t achieving the numbers you’d like to be.

Leverage your existing web properties to maximize the number of people who actually see that you in fact have a Twitter account. Many of us include a small “Follow Me” graphic somewhere on our blogs. Instead make a larger sized banner telling people what you tweet, why they should follow you, and of course where to find you! If you have Squidoo Lenses, or Blogger blogs, make sure you’ve remembered to include an invitation there.

Make sure you are taking advantage of the signature file’s that can be included with any email. A signature file is simply a short bit of text or graphics that automatically gets appended to each and every email you send out. Include an invitation to follow you on Twitter, as well as the URL to your website.

Take advantage of social introductory sites like Twiends where you can grow your community by following others and being rewarded in the way of points that are called “seeds”. You then use those same seeds to offer a reward to others for following you. There are even setting which will allow you to only attract people who are in your own geographic location should that be something that is important to you.

Actively follow users who are interested in the same topics as you are. Many times, these same people will in turn follow you back. It is important to note that Twitter frowns upon following mass amounts of people only to unfollow those who don’t follow you back, so be careful and stick to the rules they’ve laid out for us.

Often times the best way to keep and attract new followers is by providing great content for them. If I notice someone retweeting my content, and I’m not yet following them, I’ll quickly rectify that. After all I enjoy getting my content shared as much as the next guy.

Make sure you are reaching all your existing followers by tweeting for maximum effect. Now I’ve personally tested what tweet frequency results in the most clicks for my particular type of follower and have found 20 to 43 minutes works best. And since many of my followers aren’t located strictly in my time zone, I have to tweet during hours I might not be in front of the computer.

There are plenty of website, or software solutions that will allow you to pre-write the messages you want to go out, and then schedule the times you’d like them sent at. This way those over in China or India also get a chance to see, and possibly share your content.

And last but not least, this is probably the most powerful method I’ve used to grow my twitter followers, and I use it to this day! What I do is choose someone who happens to be in my niche or market and has more followers than I do. I generally try to keep it within 2000 followers, but have on occasion gone after someone with more. (It’s usually easier with smaller jumps; you could just as easily go after someone with 200 more followers than yourself.)

I then take one of my post-it notes, and write out the user, as well as their current follower count. Then add my own details in with a highlight showing the difference. I then make it a point to overtake that user, and devote a small portion of time each day toward Twitter, and growth and engagement. Once I overtake that user, I simply find another with slightly more followers.

The most recent motivator in my quest for more followers is none other than Pat Flynn who until 8:00 am this morning had more followers than I at 50,127. Pat is an unassuming, yet great internet marketer who shares not only his information over at Smart Passive Income, but also his income statements as well. I know I for one, find his site hugely motivating, and plan to read every single post he writes!

“Thanks for the motivation Pat!”

This is definitely one of those overlooked methods that most people will skim past, and never consider doing because it sounds too simple. (And it is) But I have to tell you, out of all the methods I’ve used, this is easily the most powerful one for me!

Twiends for Twitter

Stronger together

I wrote a few weeks ago about using Twiends to grow your social network, and allow you choose between either growing your Fan page, YouTube channel, or Twitter followers. Quite of you took advantage of it right away and started to grow your networks, but I had a few people say they didn’t think that it would work.

They were of the opinion that since I already had 20,000 followers on Twitter that I was using that number to influence my review of Twiends. Fair enough, here are my growth stats for the last month.

On March 28th I had exactly 20,848 people following me on Twitter and if you check my stats I’ve had around 20,000 for some time now. Fast forward a month to today and you’ll see I now have 29,330 followers and a prediction for 38,695 in the course of another 30 days if I continue with this rate of growth.

Now personally I’d of been happy with 1000 or so new followers in a month’s time, but I’m not going to say no to this kind of growth. Having a large audience is usually a benefit in my industry.

twitter statistics

It’s important to note that I’ve also never paid more than 2 credits for a follower, so my growth while consistent is still likely lower than what other could expect. I have two monitors so I usually have the second one open to their site, and I’ll watch the YouTube video’s and build up credits that way.

You can also choose the fast route of purchasing credits to use; it all depends on whether you have more time than money, or more money than time. Me, I have lots of time and it’s easy to build credits while I’m working on my primary monitor.

If having a large social network is something that is important to you or your business, I’d definitely recommend signing up for free account, and taking advantage of the millions of other users networking on there.

One word of caution though, if you follow back everyone who follows you I’d suspend that while you are using the service. Unfortunately with anything like this system there will always be spammers, and fake accounts and I’ve noticed more than my fair share. Since I’m paying for the follow I don’t really feel obligated to follow back anyway unless they are someone I’d normally follow and interact with.

For free Twiends credits you can sign up to their newsletter and receive 50 free credits.

See you there!

Twitter Tools for Power Users

Twitter

Twitter has certainly become a force to be reckoned with, and chances are if you’re serious about blogging then you’ve already implemented some sort of Twitter strategy to maximize your exposure and capitalize on all those individuals currently interacting heavily.

I too have read the statistics on both Twitter and Facebook, but I can’t help but notice that when I log into my Analytics program I am still getting twice as much traffic from Twitter as I am from Facebook despite the fact that they have similar counts.

The key to maximizing any traffic source is to use the tools available to you in the most effective manner. With that in mind here are some of the tools I use daily to achieve the traffic returns I do.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck is a powerful twitter management tool that divides your twitter account into manageable sections where you can see at a glance just what is going on in your Twitter circle. You can easily interact with the rest of the people online effortlessly and track conversations that are important and relevant to you.

Tweetmeme
Tweetmeme is a WordPress plugin like the one to the right of this post that allows visitors to easily retweet content they enjoy, or think that their readers might benefit from. Over time, and with proper engagement and as your traffic starts to increase you’ll see the quantity of RT’s increase as well. There’s nothing more satisfying than checking in on a post you wrote in the morning and seeing it now has over 100 retweet!

Tweet Attacks

Now this one is definitely my personal favourite by far. I’ve had this one for a little over a year and it’s paid for itself many times over. It is $147 to pick up, but well worth it. If you can’t afford it at that price shoot me an email, and I’ll make sure you get a deal on it! This one tool is responsible for the bulk of my Twitter traffic, and has also allowed me to build up a substantial following of over 26,000 followers.

Twiends

If you are looking to grow your social network (Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube) then this site is a must. They basically provide a system that allows users to earn credits for either watching other user’s video’s, following them on Twitter, or liking their fan page, and in exchange you can then use those credits to attract fans to your pages. There is also the ability to purchase credits if you don’t have the time to invest, or perhaps don’t wish to follow anyone else.

Twitter Counter

This is a great way to measure your twitter growth over time, and by having something to benchmark it with it definitely lends itself toward becoming a little more competitive with yourself or other users. It also provides you with a great little widget that you can show on your blog and display the current number of followers you have. You can see mine to the right of my “Follow us on Twitter” graphic. If you then click on it, you’ll be taken to my stats page where you can see my growth as well as ranking in the Twitterverse!

Klout

This is a great tool for measuring the effectiveness of key performance metrics like true reach, audience engagement, and amplification probability. Basically you receive a score between 1 and 100, with the higher scores reflecting individuals with a larger sphere of influence on Twitter.

These are just a handful of tools that can help you to take both your Twitter account, as well as your blog to new levels. The more people you connect with personally, the more likely you are to see an increase in the level of traffic you receive from Twitter.

A Word on Social Proof

Blair Witch Project

Hey guys, just a quick post today to celebrate the fact that I’ve finally hit the 20,000 fan mark with our Facebook page. I took my Twitter account to 20,000+ in about 8 months, and then thought it might be a good idea to keep things symmetrical so stopped focusing on Twitter other than to engage, and started focusing on Facebook.

Next on my list is to grow my RSS subscribers, and daily traffic. To be honest I can’t imagine receiving 20,000 visitors a day but it does give me something to aspire to and since I don’t really know how to quit maybe I actually have a shot at it, LOL.

Having a large following on Twitter, Facebook, etc. has more than one purpose  for your blog, I mean there are the obvious advantages of being able to siphon a small portion of traffic from them to your website, but it also serves as social proof for all the new and existing visitors who frequent you’re blog.

For one thing it shows them that hey, 20,000 people before them have liked this particular fan page, so if they go ahead and like it they are not alone. People are much more likely to follow someone who interests them if they notice that others have done it before them. Now this isn’t always the best indicator, but it does carry a certain amount of weight.

If took you and plunked you down into a Lady Gaga concert in a foreign city, and in a concert hall you’d never been to previously chances are when you left you’d follow the rest of the crowd out through the maze of hallways even before you’d bother reading the signs posted on the walls. We do this because we assume (usually correctly) that the collective knowledge of the crowd is sufficient proof of the route to take upon exiting the building.

Social proof surrounds us in our daily lives, and is often taken for granted and never really considered. We see two coffee shops situated across from each other, and automatically assume that the busier one serves the better pot of coffee. You visit a website offering WordPress plugins for download and see several listed, but one stands out above the others because it has been downloaded 10,000 times while the others only a few hundred. Chances are you’ll follow the crown and add your download to the statistic.

Social proof is by no means infallible, and can often simply mean that the marketing skills of one are far greater than those of its competitors. Take the movie “The Blair Witch Project” which was filmed $22,000 and yet grossed over 240 million dollars. One of the cameras purchased was later returned to the Circuit City for a refund which gives you a glimpse into the mentality that surrounded that particular film. I remember walking out of the theatre wondering how on earth that particular film made it into a motion picture. It’s truly amazing what hype and social proof can do.

Now I’m not saying take a website or product that sucks and create social proof in order to bolster it and drive visitors, but I am suggesting that you take a quality resource and add the social proof aspect to it in order to drive those visitors to new heights which can in turn create the response needed for the owner of that quality resource to in turn create even more quality resources.

It Started With a Question…

It’s after 2:00 am, and I just have to get this down on paper, while I’m still bouncing off my chair. I’ve been working long hours lately to try and get my e-book finished and online, and am just putting the final touches on it here. I needed a break, and a few things have been on my mind over the last few days.

1.       Should I invest more time in article marketing, or guest blogging?

2.       How long should my blog posts be?

3.       What price should I charge for my e-book?

So I took a break, and wandered over to my trusty search engine Google, and started wandering around. I found this site called ViperChill and a post titled “Blogger’s, this is how long your posts should be!” Now I’m pretty sure he wrote that just for me, but it already had some tweets and comments so maybe not?

I was leaning toward 1000 words, and he kind of reinforced that for me, and I came away thinking I’d like my posts to be meaty, and packed full of information my readers could sink their teeth into.

Now while I was there, I noticed in the sidebar where they feature a list of the popular blog posts, something titled “Guest Blogging: The Ultimate Guide” (Can you see why I thought this guy was writing for me?) and lo and behold it had 271 Retweets according to the counter. (I just had to check and see if it was broken, and added mine… It wasn’t!)

Again, I was floored by the depth of knowledge, and the scope of this article, and came away with the answer I was looking for.

Glancing over at that awesome little sidebar filled with so many winning headlines, I managed to spot what I thought might be the answer to my third question.
How I wrote a 30,000 e-book” (and you can too) Now I know that one was written for me! LOL

Again, I came away with a firm answer in mind for a question I’d had in mind only moments ago. I’m pretty sure I left another comment!

Now it was at this point that I had to know more, so clicked on the “about me” page, and it turns out this fellow Glen was only about 21 years old. If I was amazed by the writing before that, I grew even more so.

Added him on Twitter, went over to check out his fan page, and of course “Liked” that.  (Which turns out could use some “Like” Love, so help him out there if you can! Guess he’s not perfect after all!

I know I’m going to be up all night, seeing just what else he has to say, and I’ve made sure to subscribe to his RSS feed, so I don’t miss out on any future posts he makes, and now here I sit writing this post all excited about a young man, who came online, and built something amazing out of nothing more than his wit, writing talent, and perseverance.

The best part of it all is he’s now sharing what he knows and is learning along the way, in the hopes of helping others. Something that I can admire in another person with no trouble at all.

So let’s recap here for a moment shall we? Here is what he had when he started: A visitor, nothing more, looking for answers to questions I had.

Here’s what he ended up with in the end:

-          I’ve read 3 posts, and only stopped in order to type this all out in excitement.

-          Left 3 comments (think I’ll stop before he thinks I’m a spammer!)

-          A follower on Twitter who has over 20,000 followers in turn and will be only happy to share his posts with my followers.

-          3 Retweets

-          A new fan on his Facebook page

-          A subscriber who can’t wait to see what he says next!

-          And a post he couldn’t have bought complete with four backlinks to four of his pages on a popular website in his own niche. (Five if you count the logo)

And he got all this without ever knowing who I was.

So the next time you’re contemplating conversions, or how to get subscribers, add new followers, fans, or readers, I want you to remember this post, because there’s a lesson in here that isn’t too hard to find!

Tweet Attacks Reviewed

Tweet Attacks Review

I thought I’d review a piece of software that I’ve been using for several months now, and share it with my readers since many of you are also either on Twitter to protect, and promote your brand, or would like to use Twitter as more of a marketing tool, and help drive more sales, or visitors to your website.

I’m going to go over a few of the tasks that we’re all challenged with and explain how Tweet Attacks can help with those challenges, and help you get the most out of Twitter.

Scheduled Tweets:
It’s important to be active on Twitter in order to keep the interest of those that are following you, as well as to provide them with a certain amount of value for choosing to follow you as well. Now I’m not sure what your current level of participation on Twitter is, but I can assure you that you are probably missing a large portion of your Twitter audience due to the fact that we all live in different time zones, and have different work schedules.

Scheduling your tweets so that you can be tweeting throughout the times when you’re not able to physically be at the computer is a great way to promote your brand, drive visitors and sales, as well as to be more active in the Twitter community. And it’s a simple matter of responding to followers when you’re next online, or at the computer.

Try typing up some tweets that your followers might find useful, and of some benefit in their lives. This could be anything at all that you can think of, a mechanic could offer up tips to help keep your car running smoothly, or offer up advice on where the cheapest gas can be found in town, an SEO expert could offer up tips on driving traffic to people’s websites, and improving their search engine rankings, the sky is literally the limit here, and you are held back only by your imagination. (And the 140 character limit in Twitter)

Tweet Attacks allows you to load text files into it, and schedule your tweets to go out at either predetermined times and dates, or simply schedule them to go out every 15 to 30 minutes or whatever duration you decide is best for your audience. This way, you’re tweeting around the clock, and driving traffic to your site, even when your time zone is sleeping!

Managing Followers:
One of the challenges we all face is the management of our followers, trying to protect those that are following us, when we clean house as well as hanging on to those special tweeps we follow regardless of whether or not they follow us back because they offer information that is just that valuable. Tweet Attacks keeps a copy of your VIP’s so that they don’t accidentally get unknowingly unfollowed. It will also allow you to follow selected people, or their followers, or even setup a schedule to follow so that it does it all for you automatically.

Wait and Reply:
If you’ve ever tweeted about a subject only to have someone not following you reply to you with a message on the same subject you’ve probably seen this feature in action. As a marketer, this one could hold value, because it allows you to monitor the Twitter Stream, for certain topics and then respond accordingly. Imagine having purple widgets for sale, and being able to send a reply whenever someone tweets “I wish I had a purple widget!” Ok, that one may have been made up, but you get the picture. It allows you to reply to anyone, anywhere on Twitter who Tweets the phrase you’re watching for, with the response of your choosing, regardless of whether you’re on the computer or not.

These are just a few of the features you can find within Tweet Attacks, and I can personally tell you it’s an amazing piece of software that I can’t imagine not having at my disposal. If you’d like to know more about it, please visit their website at www.tweetattacks.com

Internet Marketing And The Benefit Of Twitter

Twitter and Internet Marketing

The key to the social phenomenon known as Twitter is its utter simplicity. Users have a short space of only 140 characters in which to convey a message or “tweet”, which is then placed on their Twitter page.  They are allowed to have people sign up to follow these messages, and they in turn can follow the messages of others. It’s a simple yet ingenious way to stay in touch with friends, family, businesses, and other entities of interest, on a constantly updated basis. There are no ads, so how is it possible for a business to use Twitter along with other methods of internet marketing?

There are several different ways that people have found in varying degrees of success for their internet marketing purposes. For one, there is it’s simplicity to use, it’s easy and open to everyone. Two, you should always remember to include your twitter account information on your blog or public profile so users that like what you have to say, can sign up and follow your news updates, and posts. This is a great way to broadcast to a wide audience about any special sales, or events you may be having.

Try to use your own special style when writing, it’s more important than you may think, as your audience is being drawn to you by both, your topic that you post, or tweet about, as well as your particular writing style, perhaps your funny, or quick witted. People are reading your tweets and posts because they like your personality, so be sure to include “you” in everything you write. After all, it’s important to try to keep people entertained, while at the same time conveying your message across in a positive way. Consistency in your writing style is very important.

lastly, it’s important to point out that it’s not just about who’s following you! If you truly want to get value out of twitter and use it to it’s full potential, it’s important to follow others in your field, or niche. It’s a great way to keep tabs on what your competitions is doing to help drive sales. It’s also a wealth of information that you can pick and choose from, keeping only those tidbits that you or your own followers might find interesting or valuable. I believe Twitter is here to stay, and if your looking for a fun social media tool to use for your internet marketing purposes, it’s one not to be ignored.

Twitter Followers and Scheduled Tweets

Twitter Followers and Scheduled TweetsIf you’ve been involved in internet marketing for more than five minutes you’ve no doubt heard about businesses and individuals marketing on Twitter.  If you take into account the sheer number of people using this social media platform on a daily basis (Twitter now has 106 million users sending out 55 million tweets every day) you’ll soon see why it’s something that no internet marketer should ignore for very long.

Having a large number of followers on Twitter serves a few different yet equally important tasks for us as Internet Marketers. Feel free to add us on Twitter if you like, if you notice we haven’t followed back, it was in error, and simply send me a msg, and I’ll be glad to follow you back. www.twitter.com/plrnetmarketing

One, the most obvious advantage to having a huge list of followers is more followers equals more potential customers or clients for our website or business and in turn more sales.

Two, more followers mean a larger knowledge base with which to grow our business from. For example, my Twitter account is made up of hundreds, perhaps thousands of people in the Internet Marketing industry, how can I possibly make money from internet marketers? (A tough group to sell to) Well, maybe I can’t sell as often to them, but I can certainly share knowledge with them, I learn little bits and pieces from each of my followers, just like they do from me. I then in turn pass that knowledge and information along to my readers and followers which results in an indirect benefit to my bottom line.

Three, a large number of followers will be seen by many as a good indicator of social proof. Social proof is important in that if someone goes to a website and see’s the site has no comments, 142 follower, 34 feed burner readers, they are going to assume it’s pretty much a dead site. On the other hand, if they see there are thousands of followers, hundreds, or thousands of readers and so on, they will be more inclined to invest the time to check out the site giving it the attention it deserves. If you took two websites of equal value, site a. has 25 followers, and site b. has 20,000 followers, your subconscious will tell you the one with the bigger number is more popular, and hence more valuable. (Not true, these were equal blogs, remember… but it will often be perceived that way)

So what can we do help us market, and make more money on Twitter? Thought you’d never ask!
I’ve broken it down into two sections, the fist generating more followers, and the second covering scheduled tweets.

Getting Followers:

  1. The most widely used method for getting someone to follow you, is to simply follow them first in the hopes that they will see you as someone of value, and follow you back. This can be done manually (not recommended) or using software, or websites for the purpose I recommend Tweet Attacks (paid) or www.refollow.com (free)
  2. Make sure to include a follow me icon somewhere visible on your website or blog. I’ve placed mine beside my twitter counter, so that people can see they aren’t the first one’s to follow me. (Social Proof)
  3. As an Internet Marketer, I’m assuming you have a subscriber list. Include a follow me icon or link at the bottom of your emails.
  4. Personal correspondence is also a great way to let your friends, family, and colleagues know where to find you on Twitter. The idea is to make it as accessible as possible for people to find you.
  5. Other social media sites. PLR Internet Marketing has a facebook fan page that also has a direct link to our Twitter account, showing our tweets, followers, etc. as well as a place to start following us.
  6. Hold a contest in order to grow your list, perhaps your business offers a product or a service that you could use as an incentive for people to follow you. Be creative, there are any number of ways to entice people to follow you on Twitter!

Scheduled Tweets:

Capitalize on your “Tweet” real estate; this is a very important step that many overlook. Schedule your tweets…not all of them, but your business tweets for sure! For example, I’ve gone to the trouble to write out over 700 tweets that go out from my account every 4 to 10 minutes. I’ve broken my tweets into four different types.

  1. The first tweet that goes out from my account is a random quote. I love motivational quotes, and it turns out many others do as well; these are often retweeted dozens of times per day giving me and my business even more exposure to newer and wider audiences.
  2. Second tweet I send out is a link to one of my blog posts, of which I have over 200. That means I can tweet about 200 articles on the different topics I cover here on my blog, and that my followers if interested can click through to read, and then become potential clients or customers. These also get retweeted quite often, as they have value to my followers, followers!
  3. The third tweet I send out will be an SEO tip that I’ve written (and condensed to 140 characters) in order to provide value to my followers throughout the day. I’m constantly getting commended, and thanked for these, as they help my followers and usually lead to further discussion on what other webmasters are doing, or should be doing with their own sites.
  4. My fourth tweet is my “money tweet”; it’s usually an affiliate link promoting a product or service that my site recommends in exchange for a percentage of the sale. For instance I’ve been using Hostgator as a reseller, and affiliate, and I’ve been happy with them for years, so have no problem recommending them to my followers. If my followers are in the market for hosting, they can click on the link, and if they sign up for the service I get paid by the company for recommending a new customer to them.

For those interested in the software I use to manage these two daily tasks on Twitter, I’m using Tweet Attacks, the software is amazing, and paid for itself within just a few weeks.
