How To Market Your New Product

Did you just create a new E-book or software? A lot of people are creating new E-books but the biggest problem they have is they don’t know how to market it. What you need to understand is that if you don’t know how to market your new product, then there really is no point to even make it.

Something that I would highly recommend is before you ever create a product you should first come up with the marketing plan for it. This is something that most people don’t do and that is why they have trouble selling the product that they just spent weeks or even months on. Trust me, you will be better off creating a marketing plan than putting another hour or two into the product itself. When you create a product you can always give updates to it, with your marketing strategy you can’t do this.

How To Market A Product

Facebook Ads

The very first thing that I will do to market my product is to use Facebook ads. The reason I would use Facebook ads before anything else is because they are easy to track, they are cheap, you can customize everything that you need and best of all Facebook has almost a billion people on the site. Did you know that there are almost 500 million people on Facebook each day? This is a huge number and if you can market your product to even a small fraction of that number, then you will be doing really well. Marketing a product will take time but with Facebook that time is cut in thirds because of how much traffic they get.

Twitter Updates

If you have a Twitter account, then you are hopefully doing updates on a daily basis. The nice thing about Twitter is that you can give a little introduction to your product and then a link pointing your following to it. A lot of people use Twitter for the wrong reasons but if you do things right, then you will see some traffic and hopefully sale from it. Just remember that not everybody has a Twitter account and most people don’t use it on a daily basis so you will have to send a few updates at different times to ensure that all your followers see your update.

Emails

Do you have an email list? Do you have a bunch of friends that might like what you have to offer? The best part about emails is that you can send an email to your list as many times as you need to in order for them to see it. What most people don’t realize is that sending somebody an email will be much better than getting them to show up on a site all the sudden because with an email they will know who you are and what you have to offer before even opening it up. This is why using emails is a great way to market a product.

Guest Posts

Another thing that you need to do in order to market your new product is to get other people to know about it and the best way to do this is through guest posts. The nice thing about doing a guest post is that you don’t have to worry about promoting to the same people over and over again. With a guest post you will be promoting your product to people that you don’t know and who probably don’t know you. Doing a guest post is also a great way to show that you are an expert in your field and this will make it a lot easier to sell something to somebody you don’t even know.

Blog

The last thing that I would do to market your new product is to use your personal blog. If you don’t have a personal blog, then it is time that you get one. The best part about using a personal blog to get more sales is that you will probably already have a following and that means that you will be able to turn your following into money. Trust me, using your own blog to promote your new product may seem like too much but your readers want to know about what you have been doing too.

Another thing that you can do if you have a really good product is to enlist the help of affiliates. This is something that is a great source for marketing later on but for right now you should stick to the methods above. Just know that in order to make any money from the product that you just create you will have to market it somehow. My advice is to make sure you are using every marketing technique that you can in order to make the most money in the shortest amount of time.

What Graphics Do You Need in Your Toolbox?

Almost every marketer needs graphics.  Many graphics are available pre-made.  You don’t necessarily need to have every single graphic customized for your use only.  Some graphics should always be custom made, but others can easily be stock material.

If you’re making sales pages of any kind, there are a few types of graphics you should almost always have.  You don’t necessarily need a header and footer, but you can’t get away with having no graphics at all.  Some of them are absolutely essential!

The most important thing you need if you’re selling an eBook, software package, membership site, or other digital products is a good eCover.  This will have to be customized with your product name.

A good eCover graphic lends credibility to your product.  If your eCover is poorly done, a lot of people will think the product itself is sub-par.  If your eCover is especially attractive, it will make it seem like your product has a higher value.  A good eCover is essential, especially if you’re selling to other marketers!

A guarantee graphic is also important.  Guarantee graphics help draw attention to your money back guarantee.  A guarantee is vital if you want to achieve maximum conversions, because so many people have been burned on Internet products before.  If you don’t have a clear-cut guarantee policy on your sales page, or if visitors don’t see it, you could be throwing sales out the window.

An attractive order button that draws attention is almost as important as your eCover.  The order button is what people need to click in order to purchase your product.  If they somehow miss the button, or if it’s difficult to see, people might get frustrated and leave.

Also, some people specifically look for the order button on your site first.  The price of a product is usually near the order button, so some people will instinctively scroll down to the order button before they even read the sales letter.

If your order button is especially tempting, your price is good, and your eCover is exceptional, they may hit the order button and buy without even reading the sales letter.  This is especially true if they’ve already heard a lot about your product before they make it to your sales page.

Bullets or accent graphics can also be important.  They help draw attention to essential benefits and features.  They should be used sparingly.  Using bullets to accent everything on a page takes away from their usefulness, because they should only be used to draw attention to your most important benefits.

If you’re running an affiliate program, you must have a selection of banners for affiliates to use to advertise your site.  Although some affiliates will only promote you through text links or emails, a lot of affiliates will still need banners for websites and blogs.

Remember, pre-made graphics can really save you time and money, but it can also pay to have part of your graphics custom made.  Great custom graphics can really help skyrocket sales.  Save the stock photos for use on Squidoo lenses and in your blog to stay in line with the niche theme.

How Long Does an eBook Need to Be?

 

As a work at home marketer, you need to understand the main reasons that people purchase eBooks. They buy them for discretion, for convenience, and because they’re readily available at a time when their problem has caused them to go online and seek out a solution.

You might be stumped by the question of how long an eBook needs to be. The answer to that question is ‘as long as it needs to be.’ An eBook should last as long as it takes to get the point across or to teach the information.

When the information is delivered in full, the eBook is complete – and that may mean it turns out to be 10 pages or 100 pages. You might have seen some eBooks that are sixty or seventy pages long and yet the meat of the eBook only lasts through the first forty pages.

The remaining pages are fluff or filler pages just to pad the page count so they can up the price. Don’t do this to your customers because then they walk away feeling ripped off. Customers know the difference between quality and quantity.

That’s why you don’t want to pad pages. It’s a waste of your time and the customers’ money. In fact, many consumers have stated that they would have paid hundreds of dollars for a short report they read that was packed with value, compared to a fluff and filler eBook that contributed nothing of value to them.

The reason why some online marketers pad eBooks is that they heard somewhere that an eBook should be at least fifty pages minimum. While that is considered to be the standard, it’s not a set in stone rule. An eBook can be any length whatsoever. The most important part of any eBook is what you have on the pages, not the page count.

Don’t focus on reaching a certain page number. Focus on the writing – on saying what you have to say with clarity. Remember as you write that although you know what you’re talking about and you may have been an expert for many years in what you’re trying to teach, your readers may be beginners.

With that in mind, lay out your eBook content in a step-by-step manner that’s easy for them to grasp. If there’s information that would be nice to add, but doesn’t fit in the exact outline, then add it as a bonus product to the main PDF file.

Launching an E-Business

E-Business; "The Insider's Edge"

There is a lot of hype and promises in the online world, and because of the lure of easy money many are attracted to those offers. The truth (in my humble opinion) is that you have to meet several criteria in order to make an honest and lucrative living online.

Criteria #1: You need to have an idea or concept for just how you intend to make money online. This can be as simple as launching a blog like this one, and monetizing it, or as creative (yet still simple) as launching a social network trading system like Twiends. Many people choose to try out multiple ideas and most likely learn something from each of them.

Criteria #2: You need to do your homework! Research the competition, as well as the market. Locate the hangouts of your potential clients, and visitors you intend to market too. Are you planning to piggyback off of someone else’s traffic, (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) or are you going to drive them to your offer by giving away content? There is much to learn, but knowing what you need to do in order to succeed is half the battle!

Criteria #3: You need to set goals and achieve them constantly. Each goal is a step on the entrepreneur’s journey that brings you closer to the business success you’re most likely searching for. An individual without goals is lost, and unless you are following someone else, are also unlikely to arrive at any destination other than a random one.

Criteria #4: You need to apply consistent effort and promotion toward the goals you’ve chosen as important to your businesses success. There will come a day when you can relax and enjoy the fruits of your labours, but that might not be for a couple of years. The important thing is to not give up. It will come!

Driving Traffic to your blog

Blog Traffic

Whether you write simply for pleasure of having your words read by appreciating people, or to attract people to a cause you promote, or because you earn part or all of your living from your website, one thing you need is always going to be traffic. Traffic is the life blood of any online business, and preferably the kind of traffic that converts.

There are dozens of ways you can go about attracting people to your website or blog, and it should be seen as more of an ongoing process than a “do it once and forget it” type of deal. By developing a continuing strategy geared toward building your traffic levels, then you’ll see consistent growth and once you reach a certain level it will even gain a sort of “critical mass” that helps perpetuate itself.

There are four main sources of traffic that you should be focusing 90% of your efforts on in order to maximize the return on your time investment. Those four are:

1.       Referring Traffic Sources such as you’d get through guest posting, article marketing, blog commenting on popular blogs, links from popular blogs etc.

2.       Search Engine Traffic consists of 60% of all my traffic and I manage to keep it there by applying a consistent SEO strategy which also ties in with my traffic driving strategies, obviously SEO traffic is highly targeted so it converts quite well for me.

3.       Social Network sites Like Twitter, and Facebook should also be part of your traffic generating efforts, and while there are a ton of them out there, I focus on these two, however if you’ve already established a presence in another network then I’d say develop it, and cultivate it.

4.       Feedburner is one you can’t afford to ignore, having a large RSS count isn’t just for looks, and it also serves up your content to a highly targeted, highly interested group of subscribers. Invest some time into increasing the number of subscribers your blog has, and over time as this number grows, so will your traffic.

5.       I know I said four, but this is a bonus method that very few people are utilizing. Affiliate traffic! Affiliates will always be able to send more traffic than you could ever hope to see left to your own methods. It’s a simple matter of math, if you have 1 person working on sending traffic to a site vs. 100 people working on the same task… well the 100 affiliates will most likely win out. By having a product that can be promoted by affiliates you can start recruiting them to your cause in exchange for a portion of the sales proceeds, typically the higher the percentage, the more affiliates you’ll be able to attract, but there are other things you can do to attract them as well. Developing traffic isn’t hard; it just takes a consistent application of effort toward a few key sources in order for it to be successful. Every Internet Marketer Needs a Product

As internet marketers, it’s kind of assumed that the ones, who have their own product, are a little more serious about things, than those who are just dabbling in it, and haven’t invested the time toward one of their own. Building a product can seem like a daunting task, especially if you haven’t done one yet. Like anything else obviously, the more you do, the easier it gets, and the more polished they will look.

Having your own product will not only generate an additional source of income for you and your blog, but it will also allow you to show off your skills, and set you up as more of an expert to your readers. Depending on your skills, the different types of products you can make will have a different appeal to you. Obviously if you’re a writer, then an e-book will seem like a no brainer, here’s a few of the different types of products you can get started with.

E-Course

One of the easiest products you could create could be a quick e-course, teaching people how to accomplish something in your niche, you can write out weekly emails with the course laid out inside, and have them go out at predetermined times. Perhaps one lesson each week. This is simple, and easy to implement, and anyone with some basic writing skills can get this set up in a week or two without too much trouble.

E-Book

If you’d like to take things a little further, you could write an e-book on a topic that a good majority of your readers might have a use for, and that solves a problem for them, or outlines how they can achieve something that will profit, or benefit them in some way. Try to avoid the quick 30 page reports than many seem to pump out because they are in a hurry, unless you truly have something revolutionary, and are able to get it out in just a few pages. Personally I’d recommend keeping your e-books between 50 and 150 pages, or somewhere in the middle. I’m sure you could get an e-book done in a month, but for me it takes closer to 3 since I have a pretty heavy work load with all the other commitments I have with my business.

Video Course

Probably the most popular, and successful products lately are the internet marketing training courses that many marketers are putting out. The quality of these depends largely on the marketer himself, but I have seen some great courses that taught me a lot. It’s important to pay close attention to detail, and to remember that teaching something isn’t the same as showing something to someone. Teaching is a skill all by itself. By investing the time to product anywhere from 4 to 12 hours of video training, you could find yourself with a product worth $47 – $497 dollars. The more specialized, the topic the more you’ll be able to charge for it.

Software

Another great product you can have is a piece of software that automates a task, or allows the user to perform some vital function that makes his day more productive, or even better, more profitable. If you are a programmer, you are limited only by your imagination and skill. Even if you aren’t you can create the product on paper, detailing as much of it as possible in great detail, and then hire someone to code it for you. Depending on the complexity of the program, you can expect to pay different prices. For a simple (yet revolutionary) wordpress plugin, you might pay three or four hundred dollars, for something more advanced like Market Samurai (keyword research tool) you can expect to pay many thousands.

Another important consideration when deciding to go with a software product is the fact that software invariably needs to be updated, and kept current, as new technologies emerge constantly, and bugs crop up in even the best code. Make sure you know just what you’ll be paying your developer for updates, and future upgrades to the software.

It Started With a Question…

It’s after 2:00 am, and I just have to get this down on paper, while I’m still bouncing off my chair. I’ve been working long hours lately to try and get my e-book finished and online, and am just putting the final touches on it here. I needed a break, and a few things have been on my mind over the last few days.

1.       Should I invest more time in article marketing, or guest blogging?

2.       How long should my blog posts be?

3.       What price should I charge for my e-book?

So I took a break, and wandered over to my trusty search engine Google, and started wandering around. I found this site called ViperChill and a post titled “Blogger’s, this is how long your posts should be!” Now I’m pretty sure he wrote that just for me, but it already had some tweets and comments so maybe not?

I was leaning toward 1000 words, and he kind of reinforced that for me, and I came away thinking I’d like my posts to be meaty, and packed full of information my readers could sink their teeth into.

Now while I was there, I noticed in the sidebar where they feature a list of the popular blog posts, something titled “Guest Blogging: The Ultimate Guide” (Can you see why I thought this guy was writing for me?) and lo and behold it had 271 Retweets according to the counter. (I just had to check and see if it was broken, and added mine… It wasn’t!)

Again, I was floored by the depth of knowledge, and the scope of this article, and came away with the answer I was looking for.

Glancing over at that awesome little sidebar filled with so many winning headlines, I managed to spot what I thought might be the answer to my third question.
How I wrote a 30,000 e-book” (and you can too) Now I know that one was written for me! LOL

Again, I came away with a firm answer in mind for a question I’d had in mind only moments ago. I’m pretty sure I left another comment!

Now it was at this point that I had to know more, so clicked on the “about me” page, and it turns out this fellow Glen was only about 21 years old. If I was amazed by the writing before that, I grew even more so.

Added him on Twitter, went over to check out his fan page, and of course “Liked” that.  (Which turns out could use some “Like” Love, so help him out there if you can! Guess he’s not perfect after all!

I know I’m going to be up all night, seeing just what else he has to say, and I’ve made sure to subscribe to his RSS feed, so I don’t miss out on any future posts he makes, and now here I sit writing this post all excited about a young man, who came online, and built something amazing out of nothing more than his wit, writing talent, and perseverance.

The best part of it all is he’s now sharing what he knows and is learning along the way, in the hopes of helping others. Something that I can admire in another person with no trouble at all.

So let’s recap here for a moment shall we? Here is what he had when he started: A visitor, nothing more, looking for answers to questions I had.

Here’s what he ended up with in the end:

-          I’ve read 3 posts, and only stopped in order to type this all out in excitement.

-          Left 3 comments (think I’ll stop before he thinks I’m a spammer!)

-          A follower on Twitter who has over 20,000 followers in turn and will be only happy to share his posts with my followers.

-          3 Retweets

-          A new fan on his Facebook page

-          A subscriber who can’t wait to see what he says next!

-          And a post he couldn’t have bought complete with four backlinks to four of his pages on a popular website in his own niche. (Five if you count the logo)

And he got all this without ever knowing who I was.

So the next time you’re contemplating conversions, or how to get subscribers, add new followers, fans, or readers, I want you to remember this post, because there’s a lesson in here that isn’t too hard to find!

30 Days to an EBook

Writing

No matter what niche or market you happen to be in, a great way to earn some extra money with your blog or website while also setting you up as an expert in your field is to write an eBook, and market it to the world.

With dedication and commitment, mixed in with some decent research skills, almost anyone can write a high quality eBook for their audience, and the more time you are willing to invest into the project, the higher quality result you’ll be rewarded with.

So just where do you start? Well it helps if you already have a grasp of the subject matter that you have chosen for your website and possibly eBook, so you might already have a good idea of just what questions are being asked and where your knowledge might be best spent to help the most amounts of people. The first step in your eBook project will be to settle on a topic, and rough length for the book, I say rough because typically you can’t just set a number in stone, because it usually ends up that the content decides the final total or word count.

Try to choose what content you would like to present to your readers, and then spend some time developing the chapters that you would like to cover, you should have a rough estimate of how many words it will take you to cover each chapter, and obviously the more information you have to cover, the more words you will need. Try to avoid filling your eBook with filler words just to keep the word count up. The more content you can cram into your book the more beneficial it will be to your readers, and when you launch your next eBook, you will already have a pool of potential buyers for it, especially if it is in the same niche, or is a follow up to the first book.

I am going to share a sample writing schedule that you can use as a guideline, feel free to modify it to suit your needs accordingly, it is just meant as a guide to keep you on track, and ensure that you get you’re eBook launched in a reasonable amount of time.

Day 1     – Research several topics, and try and settle on one that will both be enjoyable for you to research and write, as well as to appeal to as large an audience as possible within you’re niche.

Day 2     – Write out you’re chapters ensuring that you cover all the material that you feel you need to get across to your readers in order for them to fully understand the topic you have chosen.

Day 3     – Fill in your copyright information, your chapters, as well as your intro for the book, now might also be a good time to brand it with your website, logo or whatever you intend to use.

Day 4     – Try to write one chapter each day, don’t worry about punctuation or grammar too much at this point, you will need to proof it several times as well as edit it for publication or launch.

Day 5     – For this example we will assume an eBook of 20 chapters, hence 20 days’ worth of writing.

Day 23   – Now that you have a rough copy of the book completed its time to go through it looking for typo’s misspelled words, doubled up words, etc. You will want to go through it at least 4 or 5 times, because our minds can trick us by reading ahead and will try to see what it anticipates rather than what is actually there. This is why a book can hit the shelves after being proof read by no less than 6 people and still have errors in it.

Day 24   – Find at least 3 or 4 people who will read through your new book looking for any errors, as well as to offer up any suggestions that they might have regarding the content, whenever possible use people who will likely be the end user so that the feedback will be as accurate as possible for your needs. Have the highlight any changes they make so that when you get each one back, it will be a simple matter to implement any changes you think might enhance the book. Remember, just because someone makes a suggestion, doesn’t mean you have to implement it. If you don’t think it aligns with the way you want the book to be read then by all means leave it out.

Day 25   – Have the graphics done up for the book, any interior images you might need as well as the cover image for the book, if you intend to offer banners to help promote the eBook now would be a good time to have them done so you can ensure the entire package is branded the same way.

Day 26   – Spend the day writing the sales  copy for the book, here is where you sell the potential customer on the benefits of the book, as how it will affect/enhance their lives, you can write this yourself, or outsource it. Typically if you hire a seasoned copywriter you can expect a higher conversion rate and in turn higher profit margin for your book.

Day 27   – Prepare to launch your eBook to the world, if you will be submitting to Clickbank in order to capitalize on the power of affiliates, also it might be a good idea to write and schedule a press release to announce the launch or publication of your new eBook, this will provide you with thousands of readers instantly and potentially some sales as well as get the word out about your new book and what it has to offer.

Days 28 through 30          – Now is the time to avail yourself to the social media avenues you have available to you, mail it out to your list, have your friends or joint venture partners mail out for you, offer to do ad swaps with other list owners. Schedule regular tweets over the Twitter-Sphere and ask your followers if they would be so kind as to retweet it to their followers as well. Many of us will be glad to help out, and make your eBook launch as successful as possible.

Writing and launching an eBook can be a rewarding experience for you and can bring you a residual income for some time to come, while also showing your readers how knowledgeable you are on your chosen topic.

Ebook – Sell It? Or Give it Away? – Which is Best for You?

Selling or giving away an ebook is the choice of the original author. This does not apply to PLR ebooks. These ebooks come with instructions that tell you how you can distribute the ebook, and what you can do with it. Violating these rights is the same as violating the copyright. It is not recommended to do so. Naturally you want to make a profit off of your hard earned work. You may think that selling an ebook is better than giving it away for free. However there are advantages to both methods.

The advantage to selling it is that you make a profit off of it immediately. But you may have to advertise or market your book in order to get people to buy it. This will require time and dedication. It will also require effort on your part. Your first advertising campaign may not go so well. You may have to tweak your marketing plan in order to get it to work the way you want to. Or it may not work at all. This happens in a lot of cases. Many people wind up making little or no profit at all from their ebook. If you’re going to sell your ebook, you’ll need a solid marketing strategy, and a few backup plans, just in case.

The advantages to giving the ebook away, however, are numerous. Free information is a way to increase visitors and traffic to your website. A free ebook can be like a teaser, or an appetizer. It whets the customer’s appetite for the main course. Giving away ebooks is a common practice in internet marketing and affiliate marketing. This is not a coincidence. These marketers realize that if you want something from someone, you have to give something in return. That’s why you may see pop-ups on certain sites that say “Join our mailing list, and get this ebook for free!” The ebook is usually on a subject that everyone in the niche is interested in. It is now helping to increase their mailing list and their sales.

Giving away an ebook also helps to establish a rapport with your audience. This is a good practice in any sort of e-business, even in blogging and SEO.
