Fan Page Contest

At the beginning of the year I was sitting at about 5,500 fans on Facebook with my fan page www.facebook.com/plrinternetmarketing and had set my goal of reaching 6,000 by the end of January. Now that is a growth of about 16 fans a day, and I thought that was reasonable. But then I was surfing around and came across a website http://get10000fans.com it kind of got my competitive nature going, I thought “hey, if these guys are sitting at 10,000+ why the hell shouldn’t I be”? And so it began! My quest to hit 10,000 fans by the end of January!

All of a sudden my growth of 16 a day, we pushed to 145 a day, and considering the fact that I didn’t decide until January, 15th that number is closer to 282 a day which is no easy task. So I started brainstorming different ways that I could promote my fan page and encourage massive growth in such a short time. So I’m implementing the different ideas I’ve come up with, as well as reading what others have to say on the matter, and implementing them over the course of the last two weeks of January to see if I can not only hit the 10,000 mark, but blow it out of the water all together!

I started off by suggesting my page to 1300 friends that I have on my personal page in the hopes that some would join. This method actually didn’t work out as well as I’d hoped. I started out having 160 friends who had previously liked my page, and ended up with only 4 new additions to the page.

Next, I used the power of my Twitter account which has over 20,000 followers, and saw some decent growth, somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 so far, and I’m sure that number is still growing as I’ve scheduled tweets and DM’s to go out for the last two weeks of January.

Next I took advantage of a great resource that allowed me to grow by over 1000 fans in just a week’s time, which gave me my first glimmer of realization that I just might have a shot at hitting this new goal of mine. Now as I’m closing in on the 10,000 mark, and rather than lose all this momentum I’ve gained I thought I’d hold a contest to see how creative my readers can be, and to reward those who are able to help out. How to Build Your Twitter Followers – Internet Marketing Meets Social Networking

Nowadays, with the advent of social media, businesses are seeing the value in creating online fan clubs for themselves and offering special deals to the “true fans” of their businesses via social networking websites like Facebook or Twitter. When it comes to Twitter in particular, it can be difficult to entice potential customers to follow your Tweets and keep them interested in your business. But there are a few strategies that can help you to increase your Twitter following and, therefore, your customer base.

One fun way to increase your Twitter followers is to host a contest through Twitter. You may not even have to offer a prize to be able to coax people to follow you. Sometimes, a contest can be as simple as asking a question and asking your existing followers to help you to Tweet their best answers to it. People love winning contests, even if all they really win is bragging rights. And as people that follow your contest participants see their answers, they may become interested in participating, too. Find someone on Twitter that is saying something interesting about your industry and engage them in conversation. As you continue to converse, you may win that person over as a follower on your feed, as well as any others who were reading the feed and interested in it.

Using Twitter for internet marketing can be a highly effective strategy. It’s a simple and low-maintenance way to keep in touch with potential customers, since Tweets are so short. But, if used effectively, you can use it to grow awareness of your business and win customers for your business, 140 characters at a time.
