Why I Recommend Aweber

Why I Recommend Aweber

If you subscribe to any blogs, then you probably already have seen Aweber in action. Aweber is the most popular email services out there and for good reason to. There are a lot of things that bloggers like about Aweber and that is why I highly recommend it.

What I Like About Aweber

Easy To Use

One of the things that I love about Aweber is that they are really easy to use. Most people think that Aweber is tough to use with everything that they offer but it is all of this stuff that makes them one of the simplest to use. I know where are other services out there that say they are the easiest to use (Mailchimp) but the truth is that for bloggers, having more is what makes things easy.

Great Support

Do you have having to try and learn everything on your own? If you have not dabbled with autoresponders before, then you are probably missing out on a lot of stuff and that is why having the support there is a great thing. I am not saying that the other email services don’t have great support but Aweber seems to have more skilled support specialists and that probably has something to do with how big of a company they are.

Many Different Themes

As a blogger you probably have your own theme that you use for your blog and that is great. This is also why I recommend using Aweber because you can now upload your theme as the background of your email. The benefit of doing this is so that your readers will know who the email is from by just looking at it. Trust me, this may not seem like a huge deal but it is to many people.

Affordable

Not only are there a lot of reasons to buy Aweber and all of its features, it is also really affordable. If you have an email list of under 500 people, then it is not that cheap but once you get a list of 1500 or more, then it really starts to beat out the competition. This is probably why Aweber is the autoresponder that most big businesses use because there are better deals once you have a substantial list built.

Great Tracking

The last thing that I want you to know is that Aweber offers some of the best tracking available. With Aweber you never have to wonder how many people read your email, who opened it, when they opened it and how many people clicked the links in the email. With Aweber all the stats are broken down for you so that you can see exactly how effective that email was so that you can make adjustments later on.

Choosing an email service is sometimes difficult but if you ask me, there is nothing difficult about using Aweber as your auto responder and email service. If you want to ensure that you capture as many emails as you can, then Aweber will definitely do this for you. I don’t want to get into all the particulars about Aweber since you have probably already heard about them but just know that if you are not using them, then I would recommend that you at least try them to see how great they really are.

Manuel VS. Automated Link Building

Manuel VS. Automated Link Building

When trying to rank your website or blog in the various search engines a fair bit of your efforts will go toward building links to your site using the various keywords and anchor text you happen to be trying to rank for. There are three primary you can do this.

Passive Link Building

I better throw this one into the mix as well, despite it being a less active technique. You can choose to let your content speak for itself and hope that generous webmasters will come across your work and then choose to link to it all by themselves. While you will get a few links this way it shouldn’t be relied on to move your rankings upward, because unless sites like Mashable, Techcrunch, or the Huffington Post choose to give you some link love you probably won’t notice much of a difference.

This method should probably be seen as a bonus system of links. The best way to entice other bloggers or webmasters to link to you is to write truly “pillar” content that simply isn’t available anywhere else. When you consider that an authority site could easily charge (and get) several hundred dollars a month for a relevant link you soon see the merit in taking the time to do the job properly, and write some amazing content.

Automated Link Building

There are of tools, programs, or services available to you that can quickly generate a massive amount of links to your website, but unless you use them sparingly and appropriately they can end up doing you more harm than good. It’s relatively easy for someone like Google to spot the patterns that are inherent with these systems and apply a penalty to your site which will effectively “null and void” most of the link building work you’ve done.

In severe instances Google can even choose to de-index your site from their results all together leaving you in the unenviable position of trying to replace any and all traffic they would have been sending you.

Manual Link Building

Manual link building is by far the most time consuming method, but it’s also the method that gives you the most control over where and how your links are placed. There truly is an art to link building, and it’s a skill that’s important to have if you’re planning on being online for some time.

The important thing to remember is that the links you build today will continue to pay off for years to come. A link on a brand new site today could turn into a PR 5 link if the webmaster of that site puts enough work into it over the coming years. When you consider that the same is true of all the hundreds or thousands of links you build you truly get a sense of that value of manually building these links.

A truly ambition blogger will even take it to the next level by building links to that other persons website in order to improve the rankings of the page his or her link is on. Guest posting is one of the most effective ways of getting a link from a website you admire and you should always make a point of not only responding to any and all comments the article generates, or sharing the content within your social network, but also building backlinks to the article itself so that the link coming from it becomes ten times more valuable to your site.

Whichever method you adopt as your favorite you shouldn’t discount any other out of hand. It’s always a good idea to incorporate a mixture of diverse links into your link building campaigns.

Another important aspect of link building should be recording, by recording the date, location, contact information, anchor text, and link authority (PageRank) you can quickly check on your links to see how they are doing, and whether or not they are still in place.

Link building is an ongoing process that should be continued for the life of your website. Over time as your own authority and PageRank improve the value of your site will also continue to increase, and the potential earnings will improve. A 125×125 banner ad on a PR2 website might bring in $20, or $30 dollars monthly, but the same 125×125 banner on a PR7 site will fetch closer to ten times that amount.

Making Money Before You Even Have a Product

Waiting until you have a product of your own to make money online means you’re missing out on a lot of potential profit that you could be making while you get your own products ready.

You don’t want to waste the opportunity. First, create a plan or a map of how much money you’d like to earn online and then take the steps to fulfill that plan. If you don’t have a plan or a marketing strategy to use to make money, then you won’t be as successful.

You don’t always have to go with what you know when you want to make money as an online entrepreneur. Pick a market or a niche than interests you. If it interests you, it’ll show through your efforts, and you can promote as an affiliate.

If you can write, you can earn money writing for other online businesses or marketers while you’re building your own products. You can write blogs, reports, articles and even eBooks. And other service jobs are out there too – like building backlinks for marketers, creating blogs and more.

If you can’t write or are not comfortable with it, then teach. Set up a teaching website sharing information about whatever you’re knowledgeable in and charge for lessons or online classes – ad do them via video.

Create a how-to workshop. There are many people who want to learn from the comfort of their own homes. Just make a list of the topics you know and pick a few of those to expand. Create a lesson plan, put up a site (you can even use free ones) and announce your site through free press releases, forums or blogs.

You can also let your site be used by marketers who are already making money. Sell them some advertising space on your site and promote their products. You want to make sure that what they’re offering is legitimate – because if it’s not and people get upset, you’ll get tainted with the same brush simply by association.

You can also create a site and promote the products that Amazon or other retailers sell via a link on your site. You’ll earn commission based on the products that people buy. You might start out with small amounts of money, but it will grow and it’s a fairly easy way to make money online.

This is known as affiliate marketing of tangible items. You can also check out marketplaces such as Clickbank and PayDotCom for digital download products to promote.

Standing out in a crowd of Bloggers

Standing out in a crowd of Bloggers

With well over 150 million blogs reportedly being online this year more and more people are seeking out ideas and tips on how to stand out among so many. Now I have to admit I didn’t have enough time to visit all 150 million, but judging by the ones I do visit that are successful vs. those that are, shall we say less than successful there are a few clear differences that stand out.

Be Yourself

This one might seem like a no-brainer, but you don’t have to spend much time at all online to find multitudes of people who just don’t get it. Finding your own “voice” might take you a while, but once you do it will become one of the main reasons people start coming back over and over again.

 Write about what you know

If you’re super passionate about a topic, and can’t seem to devour enough information on the subject, and are continually talking (or writing) the ear off of anyone who shows the slightest interest in the same topic you’ve likely got a winner on your hands. Try to avoid subjects you either don’t know, or aren’t passionate about as they’ll soon dry up and what started out as fun will turn into work.

Be Consistent

You’ve probably heard this one before, but it’s amazing how many bloggers write sporadically at best. I often stop by the occasional blog expecting new materials and when I’m faced with last month’s post still I quickly lose interest. If you can’t see yourself writing once or twice a week on a topic you may have chosen the wrong one to begin with which is why the last point was so important.

Your readers will become accustomed to the writing schedule you keep and will often stop by your blog in anticipation of the next article on the subject you write about. It’s probably a good idea to send these visitors away happy and fulfilled rather than lacking, and frustrated.

Respond to each and every visitor

If Twitter, Facebook, and blog comments are potential contact points between yourself and your readers, then make sure you’re monitoring all of these, and responding to the people who are actually interested enough in you and your blog to engage with you, or share your content. It only takes a moment, but the conversation you start might begin the conversation that brings that reader back again and again in support of your blogging efforts.

Don’t give up!

This is one of the biggest one’s on this list. There are millions of blogs and blogger’s you’ll never hear of simply because they are no longer online. They folded their tents up, and likely won’t be back. People wander off leaving their readers behind for many reasons. Some think the level of success they achieved in the time they “tried” wasn’t what they were expecting. Often these people either didn’t put in enough time, or enough effort.

The items on this list or basic and simple, but so few seem to be doing them or are flitting about from one set of ideals to the next trying to figure out which one is going to bring them the level of success they see others achieving. It’s simple! Figure out what you want, and then figure out what you need to get you there and do it!

Every Good Campaign Needs a Backlinking Strategy

back links

Backlinks are just how they sound – links that lead back to your site. They’re like fingers all over the Internet and each finger is pointing the way for people to find your domain. If you have a website and you write an article with a link back to your site and you submit it to an article directory, that link is considered a backlink. You might see backlinks referred to as inbound links as well.

What’s the purpose of backlinking? What backlinks have the ability to do is raise your search engine ranking, which is what every marketer wants because the more visible your site, the more traffic, the better the odds are of making money.

The links work sort of like a popularity contest. They show the search engine spiders and search bots that your website is popular. Sites with a lot of relevant backlinks will be looked on favorably by search engines.

You can garner backlinks through natural methods. This means your pages are so good, so helpful with information, that others create links on their sites to point to your pages. You can also ask websites to backlink to yours and offer a link to their site, which is known as reciprocal linking.

Some blogs will let you leave comments and you can leave a backlink to your site. Not all blogs allow this. In forums, you can do the same by having a link in your signature file.

Look for popular forums in your niche and become an active community member. You can also use backlinks in videos and on social sites or on product reviews that you do about your niche.

Getting backlinks for your website is vital to the monetary health of your business, yet it can take a tremendous amount of time to set up backlinks – time that pulls you away from working on creating products to sell or concentrating on affiliate marketing.

That’s why some marketers choose to pay other people to create their backlinks for them.  You want to make sure that whoever you hire understands how backlinks work.  You can do this by hiring a writer to create articles and turn them into the various article directories or you can hire a service that specializes in site promotion.

Backlinks should be grown slowly whether you outsource it to a professional or take the do it yourself route. You never want to show search engines hundreds or thousands of new links in a day. Pace yourself for healthy link boosts and the search engines will see that as a positive sign that your site is an authority.

Do You Need a Marketing Mentor or Can You Go It Alone?

marketing mentor
Some newbies to the Internet Marketing world feel like, without a mentor, they’ll flounder online and won’t be able to make headway in this type of business. But that isn’t always the case.

The last thing you want to do is have a mentor whose only goal is to make money – for himself. You want someone who can look at your individual strengths and weaknesses and help you find a business model that will satisfy you personally and financially.

You may need an overall mentor for your efforts, or choose to hire a mentor who has experience in one specific area of Internet Marketing, like Search Engine Optimization or Pay Per Click Marketing.

Marketing can’t be summed up into one tiny, neatly wrapped package because there are too many aspects of marketing to make it that narrow. Don’t expect to learn everything in one session with a mentor.  It’s not a topic where mastery happens in one sitting.

You don’t have to have a marketing mentor if you want to run your own online business or even several online businesses. You’ll make mistakes (even the top marketing gurus still make mistakes) and you may even have some total failures, but that helps you learn what to avoid next time.

Hiring a marketing coach isn’t cheap and you could expect to pay thousands over time for help from some of the best coaching experts. If you’re just starting out, or you’ve been in business awhile and it’s not taking off the way you’d like, you might not be in the position to afford a coach.

That doesn’t mean you can’t find free expert help to guide you on the path to marketing well. There’s a great deal of advice and guidance online for marketers in any stage of their business and it’s all free of charge.

You can find this advice and guidance online through marketing blogs, forums and even articles written by marketers who have already been where you are now. You’ll learn about which marketing tools to buy, which ones are a waste of time and money and what the hottest niches are today. All this will cost you is your time. Find a marketer who keeps a regular blog and covers the information you need to know. Check out the blog archives, too.

Having the ability to read is the only qualification you need to make your marketing business a profit puller. Put the effort into researching and studying what you don’t know but need to learn.

So many marketers have graciously shared the wealth of their knowledge online for free, but you have to do the work of unearthing the nuggets you need to succeed.

Are You Ready to Become a Professional Blogger

pro blogger

The idea of becoming a professional blogger is extremely appealing to many individuals. It means a welcomed departure from the daily grind of the “9 to 5” work world. Blogging also provides people with a creative outlet to write about the topics they’re passionate about.

But blogging is also hard work that requires specific skills before many can achieve success. Here are some important factors to take into serious consideration before you dive into the world of professional blogging.

Passion

For a successful blog, you’ll need to identify the topics you’re most passionate about and want to share through your writing. These topics must be ones that you can write about weekly, sometimes even daily. I blog about personal finance and credit cards because I’m passionate about the importance of financial literacy. If your passion starts to falter, it will come through in the quality of the posts. So be sure the topics you choose are ones that you’ll want to write about in a long-term capacity.

Time

To make sizable income, you will probably need to have several blogs that you are operating at any given time. Do you have the time in your schedule to keep three, four or even more blogs up to date?

Priorities

As the owner of your blogs, there will be days that you will work around the clock to ensure that the work is done. Think about your other current commitments, whether they’re other jobs, family, friends, hobbies or organizations in which you have membership. Are you willing to make sacrifices in these areas when necessary to ensure your blogs are up-to-date and properly marketed?

Desire to Learn

When you’re a professional blogger, you’re a perpetual student. Web technologies are constantly changing, and you’re going to need to be able to keep up with these changes to ensure your blog is cutting edge, featuring the best and newest capabilities.

You’ll also need to constantly research your blog topics so you can provide your readers with the latest information and trends.

Captivating writing

Blogs require more than great technical writing skills. They also require the ability to infuse personality into your posts. There are literally thousands of blogs to choose from and readers will quickly stray if your posts aren’t written in a fashion that holds their attention.

Ability to Handle Criticism

When you blog, you’re publishing your personal opinions for all to read. It will be impossible to win every reader over, so there are very high chances that you will receive some critical responses to your posts.

If you’re serious about professional blogging, you’ll have to have a thick skin and now how to respond to criticism without offending and losing readers.

Revenue Sources

Before you quite your day job, you’re going to want to have a solid revenue plan in place. This will likely require advertising in your blog.

Or, you can also become a professional blogger by contracting your writing ability out to companies who have blogs they want maintained. If you choose this route, you’ll need to be willing to alter your tone according to their branding standards.

Marketing

So you have a fabulous topic that you’re passionate about and you’ve fine-tuned your voice. Now you have to get readers to your blog. This is where marketing knowledge and a solid strategy will come into play. Before you dive into blogging, you’ll want to do your research and learn how to attract and retain readers.

Auto bloggers are dead, true SEO rises

auto blogs

Auto bloggers have been the talk of the web for quite some time now, but for what? Auto bloggers bring nothing new to the online world – these people strive to steal other’s works, take credit, and make money from it – but this isn’t funny. A lot of webmasters are sick and tired of auto bloggers ranking for their keywords – and quite frankly, we are too.

..How do I stop an autoblogger? Easy, beat them at their own game – write quality content, and drive backlinks towards your site – that way, they have to work harder, and can’t compete against you. Google has been knocking out a lot of autoblog websites from search, and that’s good news, because true webmasters should be winning – and its always been that way, quality content, over spam.

What if an autoblogger is beating me?

Step up your content writing skills, and guest posts along the way – also build more links – either through link exchanging,  press releases, or article marketing – I’ve yet to see a true webmaster get beat by an auto blogger – why? Because autoblogging is stupid, and very annoying – its not unique, its copying, and really if you copy someone, then strive to be better than them – sure, you can have a highly ranked auto blogger, but what if someone reports you? Then, you’re screwed.

So, one thing I’d recommend to all webmasters is – work hard if an auto blogger is beating you – strive to have the best content, and strive to outlast auto bloggers – if Google can strive to knock these people out, so can you.

I recently asked this question on my twitter @cpvr and this was said.

“@cpvr @robert_kennedy I think we all are. Is there a better phrase than #SpammySEO? Link churning, or something?”

“@rtowendy @cranberrydotca RT @cpvr: @MuskokaLakeWine @Robert_KennedyLike call the titles “Autobloggers, Fake seo dead”"

Ya, so of course, auto blogging is dead, and true SEO is rising.
So, focus on not auto-blogger, but focus on quality content that helps you rank higher – for certain keywords, because we all know that “Content is king”, but it has to be of quality, that way people link you and come to your site for resource – and being unique – nobody likes a copycat – and nobody likes people that copy in order to succeed – so if you run an autoblog, then you need to focus on developing other sites, that aren’t using other’s RSS feeds for content – or anything of that matter.

It’s not hard to come up with your own content, its actually quite easy if you’re a true webmaster, or SEO person that knows how to be creative – so the fact remains, auto blogger is dead, and true SEO is back.

Great job Google for dropping the ban hammer on a lot of the cheating webmasters – they give “true” SEO a bad name, why? Auto blogging sucks and so does the people that copy other’s content – we’re sick of it, Google is sick of it, and I’m pretty sure a lot of other search engines will follow.

Sometimes Less is more

less is more

How many websites do you own? How about social media properties like Squidoo Lenses, or WordPress sites? Over time we tend to accumulate websites and other assets in the hopes of filling out our inventory of products and services and ultimately our bottom line but sometimes owning a dozen or two web properties is a recipe for neglect.

If you haven’t stopped in to visit one of those properties in the last couple of weeks, or even worse, months and improving it or spending the time to market it has fallen to the wayside while you worked no one of your more important projects or sites then it might be time to consider letting it go or selling it so you can then focus on the sites that are important to you and your business.

At the beginning of the year I took inventory on my own web properties and realized I had 27 different websites or domains, many that I hadn’t even taken a look at in months. I realized I needed to take a hard look at both my current projects and the amount of time they required and that of the neglected properties. There just wasn’t going to be enough time in the day for me to build up all of them.

I chose 10 websites and then either gave them away, or let them expire. I suppose I could have sold them as many were five or six year old websites but to be honest they had very little traffic, and zero income resulting from them being live. So I’m now down to 16 and finding it much easier to concentrate on the projects at hand. To be honest I’ve only kept sites that were automated or that I had future intentions with that were tied in with my current goals.

The point is, sometimes less is more, and being able to devote the level of commitment to your primary website or blog without feeling guilt at the ones you’re ignoring can be a freeing experience. I’m sure you can write 3 articles a day and spread them out, but just imagine how much the quality would go up if you only had to write one? Or perhaps the extra two could be used as guest posts to drive even more traffic and links to your main site.

It’s important to stop from time to time, and analyze the assets you’re collecting and ensure that they are in alignment with your business goals, and if they don’t decide whether they are worth investing more time, resources, and money into.

Are you subscribed to the Competition?

Spying on the copetition

I’m not sure which business you happen to be in, but I’ll assume it has something to do with internet marketing, affiliate marketing, or perhaps blogging. Either way I’m sure you have some competition and that they happen to be online as well. Are you keeping an eye on them? Are you subscribing to their newsletters and opt in lists? Are you reading their e-books, blog posts, and other online materials?  Well if you aren’t, you should be.

Imagine having a team of professionals working for you day and night doing market research, tweaking sales copy, email copy, and then publishing the findings for you to review at your leisure and then integrate the ones that strike a chord with you. You aren’t the only one working hard to build your business, and if you aren’t taking advantage of the findings your competitors are digging up, then you are missing out in a big way.

Because we are all unique individuals with different make ups, different strengths, and core values, we each head into different areas to further our businesses. The introverted businessman might go further utilizing the software method, and because he is so much more comfortable than you being by himself, he has mastered which tools will further his business utilizing the different software tools that are available to us.

The social butterfly who needs to be surrounded by other people will likely be the first to discover the best social networking tools to use for his or her business; they’ve also discovered how to maximize their Twitter accounts, and Fan pages to help drive traffic and sales to the highest level possible. You should be keeping a close eye on these people as they can help you to take your own business to levels you couldn’t achieve on your own, or at least quite so quickly.

I have a list of about 30 internet marketers, and bloggers who I keep a close eye on, I know which ones are falling behind in certain areas, and others who are excelling beyond belief at others. Obviously I listen closely to the topics they cover that show where there success in those areas are coming from. This helps point out flaws in my own business model that I can then quickly change or restructure in order to not get left behind with my own marketing efforts.

I have no doubt that you can make your business into a successful enterprise, but wouldn’t it be great if you could turn your weaknesses into strengths simply by paying attention to those other marketers who are experts in those fields you either struggle with, or simply have little interest in learning?

So here is what I’d recommend:

1.       Spend a day scouring the net for individuals who are doing what you are doing and then read a couple of posts, bookmark the site so you can keep abreast of what their writing, perhaps subscribe to their RSS feed.

2.       Subscribe or opt in so you can see how often they mail out, and what they mail out, this will serve two purposes, you can see what content offends you (so you can avoid sending out similar type content) and items you find valuable.

3.       If they offer products that you offer or are at some point going to offer, you might want to consider purchasing them to see how they put them together, you can then evaluate a finished product and incorporate the winning aspects, and avoid the negatives when you create your own.

I want you to consider for a moment how hard you are working your own business, and then think about others who are spending just as much time developing their own similar businesses out there. By collaborating online either passively (just keeping an eye on them), or actively (joining a Forum or community where you can brainstorm together and share which ideas are working, and which aren’t) you’ll be able to experience a higher level of growth for your business.

The resources available to you today are greater than at any other time in history, it is up to you to avail yourself to them, and make use of them.

If you are interested in collaborating with other bloggers, and marketers online, I’ve created an online forum where you can register for free and join in the discussion, ask question, find joint venture partners, etc. If you have questions, you can ask them and someone knowledgeable in that field will answer, or if you have answers for someone else, please feel free to contribute.

There are two areas to the forum, a free section as well as an “Elite” section that we’ve made super affordable at $6.00 a month, or $49.00 for the year. If you are investing in your business education this would be $6.00 well spent.

*Note: There is a credit system going live that will allow you to earn credits for posting content, you can then in turn use those credits to purchase a membership so you can save yourself some money.
