Why I Recommend Aweber

Why I Recommend Aweber

If you subscribe to any blogs, then you probably already have seen Aweber in action. Aweber is the most popular email services out there and for good reason to. There are a lot of things that bloggers like about Aweber and that is why I highly recommend it.

What I Like About Aweber

Easy To Use

One of the things that I love about Aweber is that they are really easy to use. Most people think that Aweber is tough to use with everything that they offer but it is all of this stuff that makes them one of the simplest to use. I know where are other services out there that say they are the easiest to use (Mailchimp) but the truth is that for bloggers, having more is what makes things easy.

Great Support

Do you have having to try and learn everything on your own? If you have not dabbled with autoresponders before, then you are probably missing out on a lot of stuff and that is why having the support there is a great thing. I am not saying that the other email services don’t have great support but Aweber seems to have more skilled support specialists and that probably has something to do with how big of a company they are.

Many Different Themes

As a blogger you probably have your own theme that you use for your blog and that is great. This is also why I recommend using Aweber because you can now upload your theme as the background of your email. The benefit of doing this is so that your readers will know who the email is from by just looking at it. Trust me, this may not seem like a huge deal but it is to many people.

Affordable

Not only are there a lot of reasons to buy Aweber and all of its features, it is also really affordable. If you have an email list of under 500 people, then it is not that cheap but once you get a list of 1500 or more, then it really starts to beat out the competition. This is probably why Aweber is the autoresponder that most big businesses use because there are better deals once you have a substantial list built.

Great Tracking

The last thing that I want you to know is that Aweber offers some of the best tracking available. With Aweber you never have to wonder how many people read your email, who opened it, when they opened it and how many people clicked the links in the email. With Aweber all the stats are broken down for you so that you can see exactly how effective that email was so that you can make adjustments later on.

Choosing an email service is sometimes difficult but if you ask me, there is nothing difficult about using Aweber as your auto responder and email service. If you want to ensure that you capture as many emails as you can, then Aweber will definitely do this for you. I don’t want to get into all the particulars about Aweber since you have probably already heard about them but just know that if you are not using them, then I would recommend that you at least try them to see how great they really are.

The Traffic is in the List

We’ve all heard the phrase “the money is in the list” and while that is true, it still gets overlooked or placed on hold while marketers focus instead on other aspects on their online business. If you aren’t yet sold on the financial benefits to building your email list, then perhaps you’ll be open to the idea of an additional traffic source.

We readily invest in search engine optimization techniques, spend countless hours leaving comments on other blogs, and share our content on social bookmarking sites in the hopes of generating a few dozen more visitors each day. So why is it so many bloggers ignore the traffic potential that a personal email list holds for them?

When we build a list, we also cultivate a relationship with those subscribers by offering up valuable information in exchange for the privilege of also marketing to them from time to time. Often that valuable information will come in the form of a blog post on your site, and those readers who are interested in that particular topic will click through from their email account over to your blog.

If you take a look at the following graphic you can see that the visitors who arrived at my site via Feedburner stay longer, visit more pages, have a much lower bounce rate, and are generally much more engaged than any other traffic sources including Google.

Since you’ve actually taken the time to develop a relationship with these people, they are much more likely to spend time there, and interact in some way. They are more inclined to read more of your content, or perhaps even make a purchase from your site if you offer something that can help them in some way.

Using an email service like Aweber, it’s a simple matter to set things up so that your readers are automatically sent either a preview of your blogs most recent updates, or even a full text copy that they can read within their email client. I personally prefer to send them a weeks’ worth of blog post updates at once with a snippet that they can then follow through to my site.

By limiting these contacts to once a week the reader isn’t continually being bombarded by emails from you, but at the same time isn’t very likely to forget about you. As you continue to grow your list, the number of visitors who click through to your site will continue to increase, and your daily visitors will continually grow higher, and higher.

Having a responsive list holds value for you in so many different ways, and traffic is merely one of them. Should you launch a new Facebook fan page, new product, or simply wish to drive traffic to a new website, you have access to thousands of people with no more than a click of your mouse.

Yes, the money is in the list, but so is the traffic, so are the relationships, and so are the many opportunities that a marketer decides to make of it!

To Build a Business, You Have to Build a List

money

Here’s another phrase you’ll grow sick of: The gold is in the list.  You might get weary of hearing it, but it’s smacking you in the face for a reason – it’s the truth!  First of all, let’s answer the question, “What is a list?”

A list in Internet marketing terms is a database of contact information for your prospects.  So if you have a product or promote products about gardening and I sign up for your list, I’m a prospect that you can market to repeatedly until I unsubscribe.

So why is building a list so important?  Let’s say you start off as an affiliate marketer.  You find a niche you truly enjoy and you start working what you’ve learned into some traffic for your affiliate links.

Over a period of 30 days, you funnel 5,000 prospects from the World Wide Web who are interested in your niche straight through your affiliate link to the product owner’s site.

They even buy – yea! You’ve made a 50% commission with a 2% conversion rate.  That means 2 out of every 100 people you sent bought the product, and your share was $26.00 (as an example).  You earned a cool $2,600 this month – good for you!

But you’re leaving money on the table.  Those 100 people who bought from your 5,000 clicks?  They’re now on the product owner’s list, not yours. So what he’s going to do is send them more offers over the coming weeks.

After all, they are proven buyers.  Over the next 30 days, those buyers fork over some more money for products that complement the original one they bought.  That money goes to the product owner, not you – because you passed on building a list the first time around.

A better way to build an Internet marketing business is to start with a list from day one. Before you let a single person slip through your link without capturing their name and email address, have your system set up to build a list.

You can have unlimited lists for different niches using a simple tool like Aweber, which costs $19.95 a month.  Every day you can log in and see how many people have signed up, and you can create automated messages to send out to help convert your list into more sales.

Why should the product owner get to cash in on that person again and again when you’re the one who brought him the customer in the first place?  Stake claim to each prospect and leverage your relationship with him for future sales and commissions.

Plain Text vs. HTML Emails

Aweber

A big part of an internet marketer’s income will likely be coming in from his email list of subscribers. First you offer something of value to your readers, and since we generally offer something that is related to the topic of our blog we can be assured of having a highly targeted audience to offer it to.

Once we’ve convinced the visitor of the value of the offer and they’ve subscribed we start the process of building the relationship which usually involves providing them with valuable content that helps further their business while also offering them an easy place to access programs, services, and products that they might be interested in. We then earn a commission on the affiliate nature of those offers.

Some marketers spend the time to send you nothing but offers, and generally experience a very low open rate, and an even lower click through rate. People are funny about being marketed too, if there is no value, and then they don’t tend to stick around long. It’s generally more lucrative to spend the time providing value while suggest selling around the edges so to speak.

If you write an email outlining how the reader can take advantage of Godaddy’s $.99 cent domains all year long, then having an affiliate link to Godaddy is likely going to result in a much higher conversion than if all you do is send the link out asking them to go visit them.

There are two formats you can choose when sending out emails to subscribers, the plain text version which for some is touted as being more “user friendly” and appears to come from a friend vs. a company or marketer. The other is the HTML version which is much more attractive and visually appealing but also appears more “corporate” to the recipient. There are pros and cons for both.

Plain Text Emails:

Pros

-          You know exactly how it’s going to appear to the recipient

-          Looks more like a “personal message

-          Easy to do, and takes no time at all

-          Faster load times (mobile devices or slow internet connections)

Cons

-          Very boring looking

-          Are touted as being more personable, but let’s face it, all marketers’ structure the email in such a way as to be easily spotted and discarded if that is the recipient’s intention.

-          Can’t hyperlink words

-          Can’t use colors or graphics

-          Difficult to use columns or to break up text

HTML Emails:

Pros

-          Visually attractive designs

-          Can be made to match or “brand” with your website

-          Allows you to track statistics like Open and CTR which can be valuable information

-          Easy to break up text and other information using headers, images, columns, etc.

Cons

-          May appear inconsistent across different email clients

-          Slower load time for mobile or slow connections

-          Images may be blocked by email provider

There are valid arguments for both sides and ultimately the final decision will rest with the individual and his subscribers. I’d suggest you try both and see how the results differ, and perhaps asking your subscribers after the test period would provide you with some valuable information on the subject. You may end up going with one or the other, or you may choose a combination of both.

Beneficial Banners

advertising

Advertising on your blog can be a lucrative income stream when developed properly, and once you’ve established a certain amount of traffic you can choose to sell advertising to marketers and small businesses, or promote your own affiliate products that you feel tie in nicely with the theme of your blog.

Now a big concern with bloggers and the visitors who frequent those blogs is the quantity of banners that end up flashing away on your pages. There are a majority who feel you should write day in and day out providing them with valuable content that furthers their education, but if you add in banners, or advertising and try and make any money then you’ve gone over to the dark side of blogging and shouldn’t be trusted.

Personally I disagree with the concept and feel that a blog owner should not only be paid for his time, but that advertising when done right is just one more service for the visitor. Let’s use my blog as an example here. I have a total of fourteen advertising spots throughout my blog, and if you take a look at those 14 spots you’ll find that no less than seven reflect programs or services that I use on a daily basis and would  attribute a large part of my success to.

The seven I’m talking about are:

1.       Tweet Attacks – I use this program daily, and have for over a year now to manage my Twitter account and maximize the traffic I can pull from Twitter. This one program is responsible for between 500 and 1000 of my monthly visitors, and as such indispensible to me.

2.       Hostgator – As my website and traffic have grown I’ve gone from a shared hosting account to a reseller and into a VPS (virtual Private Server) in order to ensure the site is up when you guys show up for a visit. Reliable hosting is worth its weight in gold, and can mean the difference between lost sales and reputation, or stability and reliability.

3.       Aweber – Now I’ve written plenty on the value of having your own list, and this is another service I feel every marketer, and small business should have. Your list is not only a source of income, but also a source of traffic.

4.       Market SamuraiKeyword research is crucial to the success of a blog, and unless you enjoy paying for traffic one you should probably learn. I recently met an internet marketer who did nothing but pay for traffic to his site which was receiving anywhere from 100 to 250 visitors a day and costing him between $200.00 a month and $500.00 a month. Thanks to keyword research my blog receives between 1000 and 2000 visitors a day, and cost me the price of the software once, and the time to learn and implement some search engine optimization tweaks.

5.       IBP or Internet Business Promoter is another SEO tool that I personally used to get my site ranked for one of the hardest keywords out there “Internet Marketing” earning myself a page one listing that drives visitors to my site each and every day.

6.       Twiends – This is a service that helps you grow you’re social network and since many of you are trying to grow either a Fan page, or Twitter account this is the service that can help. If you’ve ever started a Fan page and struggled to get those first 25 fans in order to set the vanity URL, you’ll be able to appreciate a free (or paid) service that allows you to get 25 fans with little trouble whatsoever.

7.       The Secret Classroom – Now I don’t use this one daily but I do go back often enough, and I have to say that after buying the course for $50 and watching just one of the 12 speakers for almost 2 hours I already felt I’d gotten more than my money’s worth. My hats off To Joel Comm for putting this one together, I know it taught me a lot!

The rest of the spots are either my own courses or programs or others that I use and appreciate and that have taught me some of the skills that I then use to my advantage. The internet is filled with hype and overpriced programs and services that fail to deliver. Having the recommendation for one’s that actually work and provide value definitely falls into the “beneficial to the reader” category!

So next time you visit a blog and complain about the banners take a minute to consider if perhaps those products or services could possibly be an asset that could help take your own blog to the next level.

Building Your Sales Funnel

Probably the biggest earner on your blog or website will end up being your sales funnel, and that’s why it’s important to start building it right from the beginning. Later on you will find that it needs to be tweaked here and there, as well as monitored in order to ensure that it’s performing to the best of its ability.

So, what is a sales funnel? Simply put it’s a funnel where you put all your leads into, and it spits out all the paying clients out the other side. Ok, that might be a slightly simplistic explanation so I’ll go into it a little further.

A sales funnel starts with your blog, or website and the visitors who arrive there through the different methods you employ to drive traffic, whether it be Social Media, SEO and the resulting search engine traffic, or perhaps you keep them coming back with the killer content that you keep writing. Regardless it’s important that you have a way of reaching out and communicating with those visitors and you achieve this by capturing their email addresses when they visit.

People ask all the time when they should start building their list and the answer is a resounding NOW!!!

If you aren’t already building your list, you’re losing money. Stop losing money, head over to Aweber now, and sign up for an account, it’s only $1 for the first month, and $19.00 after that until your list starts to grow. Don’t worry that it gets more expensive after your list gets bigger, because as it gets bigger so will the income stream coming in from that list.

You need to offer people a reason to sign up with you, and allow you permission to contact those regarding updates, promotions, or offers that you feel would be a good fit for them. Typically blog owners will invest some time in writing and EBook, or having one outsourced for them. Another popular offer is a free course that they can then set up to drip feed out to each subscriber, perhaps a 7 day course on increasing traffic to your blog by 60%. Whatever it is, make sure it’s somewhat unique and holds some value. You don’t want to start your relationship off with these people by sending them junk.

After the person signs up for your offer, they have effectively entered your sales funnel, now it’s time to convert those leads into customers, after all they signed up for your free EBook, or ECourse, perhaps a more comprehensive traffic program would benefit them?

Since it is so important for you to grow that list, it’s important that you employ multiple ways of converting that traffic into subscribers. I currently use five different methods to accomplish this. First I implemented a signup box offering my visitors my EBook E-Business; “The Insider’s Edge” and located it prominently in the top right location on my blog.

Second I built a squeeze page with a sales letter (yes a sales letter to give away a free eBook) telling the people who visit it how it will benefit them, and why they need to download it. You can see the page here. http://www.plrinternetmarketing.com/e-business/

Next I implemented a light box hover that is available from within your Aweber account (if you decide to start building your list and need help implementing this, please let me know and I’d be glad to help you.)
My light box hover fades into the screen similar to a popup (though a little less annoying) and shows up one time for each visitor. This light box hover receives the most subscribers of all the methods I employ.

Next when a visitor arrives at my Facebook Fan page, the first screen they are presented with is an optin offering my free eBook in exchange for their email address.

And finally, can’t ignore the Twitter factor, so I’ve elected to make use of the DM feature that comes with a free Social oomph account, and whenever someone new follows me, they are automatically sent a message offering them my free eBook, and sending them to my squeeze page.

By using these 5 different methods of gathering subscribers, I’m able to grow my list by 10 to 20 people each and every day on autopilot. That’s 3650 to 7300 each year without including any extra promotion I might do.

Capturing the lead is only the start. After you’ve got that email address you need to build a relationship with that person, and build trust with them, people would much rather buy from someone they know, than a total stranger. The way we do this is by sending them content that will help them in some way, now since you already know they are trying to drive more traffic to their blog, you might try sending out and email with a list of 100 free ways to increase the traffic going to their blog. You don’t want to sell these people, you want to help them with the hope that in return when it does come time for them to make a purchase, and they will consider making it through you. If you go into this with the mentality that they are just there for you to sell to, they will quickly be unsubscribing from your list.

A great way to effortlessly start building that relationship is to employ the use of an auto responder, which of course is built into Aweber. You can pre-write a series of email messages and then have them sent out at a predetermined time to your subscribers. I have six in mine, and each one goes out after one weeks’ time allowing them time to complete the various steps within my eBook, and reminding them who I am. I also send out my weeks blog posts every week so that they are getting some valuable information to help them with their business, or website.

Now I’ve started off building my sales funnel by giving my readers a valuable resource for free, in this case a 79 page EBook that took 3 months to write, this also helps build in something called reciprocity with my subscribers. After that I continue to email them to keep them on track with the goals that are set out in the book, as well as with information that will help make things easier on them. Within these emails I’m also suggesting services that they may or may not choose to avail themselves to, but if they do, my affiliate links are embedded within, and I’ll earn a commission from the referral.

Now while the visitors that you can convert through your own website might be free, it’s also important to know the cost of acquiring new subscribers so that you can then invest in acquiring even more using methods like PPC.  By calculating the cost of subscribers and knowing what your subscribers are worth to you, you can then determine at what point you are still profitable.

You should probably wait a year before you start trying to figure out what your subscribers are worth, because until that point you may not have made a consistent amount on a month to month basis. After that though it’s a simple matter to figure out if you’ve got a list of 2,000 people and after a year of marketing to them you’ve made $20,000 dollars you know that each subscriber is worth about $.83 a month, or  per year, or almost $10.00 a year. After that you can then determine just how much you’re willing to spend to acquire new ones. If you are spending less than $.83 cents each you will start making a profit in the first month of having them, however most will stay with you for some time, so you can probably afford to pay a little bit more.

Choosing a Topic for your Blog

Blog Theme

When you are first starting out, and are wondering just what theme, or topic you should cover with your online blog, you might be tempted to look for niches that hold the most opportunity for financial growth, but that could just turn out to be a mistake.

There are some who will tell you to research the different topics that are currently trending, and show the most promise for traffic and growth, and there are still others who will tell you that you need to focus your attentions on a topic that is near and dear to your heart.

As someone who has tried covering both I’ll give you my advice. Go with something that you are passionate about, and would gladly write about for free, even if no one were willing to listen to what you had to say. The more passionate about a subject, the more likely you will be to succeed with it, and yes even turn a profit with it.

There is money to be made blogging, as some will tell you, but unless you go about it the right way, you’ll just be spinning your wheels until you finally run out of things to say, and simply give up and let your blog slip into the abyss.

Each of us has a few things in life that we are passionate about, and can find pleasure and enjoyment in, just by talking about it, or reading about it. For some it could be making money online, for others it could be the challenges of raising children. Still others will have hobbies, like photography, or web design, or gardening. It’s important to blog about something that brings you joy at the mere thought of.

If you are passionate about something, then that passion comes out when you speak on the subject, and if you are able to speak (or write) about that topic in front of an audience that is just as passionate, or interested in they you will have found a winning theme with which to blog about.

I’d start by writing out a list of ten things in life that you are passionate about, perhaps it’s your job, your pet, or your hobby. Whatever it is list out as many of these items as you can on a piece of paper.

Now that you have them written down, order them by the level of interest they hold for you, 1 being the highest. Now you’ll have a good idea of some topics that might be of particular importance to you and that you might like to write about on a daily or weekly basis.

It’s important to note that just because you’ve spent your life being interested in one thing, and are knowledgeable in it, doesn’t mean you are stuck with that one as your number one choice. If there is something you know very little about, but the very thought of it excites you and you would love to learn absolutely everything there is to know about it, then this too could be a great source of ideas, and inspiration with which to start a blog about.

Blogging about something that you are passionate about will keep you going when you run out of things to write about, because generally when we are truly passionate about a topic we wish to learn every little aspect about that topic we possibly can. And by writing about something we are devoted to learning about on a continuous basis; we will never run out of material to work with, because we will be constantly growing our knowledge and experience on that particular topic.

Don’t write about something that is going to make you money, write about something that is going to make you happy, and the money will come. People will always be seeking out experts on any field imaginable!

Good luck with your blog!

Want a New Car?

car payment

How many of you could find a use for an extra four or five hundred dollars a month? If you knew that you were ignoring a revenue stream that could easily create an extra five hundred dollars each month, and continue to grow as you grew your business would you consider it? What if I told you it was primarily a passive income that would grow along side of your blog running mainly on auto pilot? Now I’m not telling you that there is no work involved, but I’m telling you that it isn’t as hard or complicated as some might think.

I’m talking about email marketing, growing your list while continuing to write for, and promote your existing blog or website. Investing the time to offer your visitors an incentive for signing up to receive your emails is something that will continue to pay for itself for many years to come.

By gathering just ten subscribers per day (which is an easily attainable number) you will quickly reach 1200 subscribers, usually within four or five months, the reason for this is because you will likely have some unsubscribe after they have downloaded the free gift you are offering in exchange for their address, don’t worry, this is the nature of the business unfortunately.

With 1200 subscribers in your Aweber account that you can now start building a relationship with, as well as start marketing to, you will be able to generate an income that runs alongside of whatever your blog or website currently earns with advertising, or affiliate income. The average subscriber is worth about ten to twelve dollars a year, even if you only achieve half that number in the beginning, you’ll still be able to generate an extra $500.00 each month with your list. Over time as you learn the intricacies of email marketing this number will grow, and you will of course be adding to your list each and every month as well.

So what can you offer to your visitors in order for them to leave their email address behind in order for you to be able to reach out and contact them later on? Well, you could invest the time and resources in creating an EBook that fits with the theme of your blog, or website and offer it out to them in exchange. Generally these will do better than simple reports that many people are offering. You could put together an e-course and have it go out via auto responder sequence to them after they sign up. Often other marketers will even let you use their EBooks as giveaways until you can come up with your own. You of course can’t make any changes to the EBook, as the reason they let you give it away to your readers is so that they can get their name out there, as well as they usually have a handful of affiliate links contained within the book. But this is still a good deal for you, as you get a quality written book, generally by an expert in your field who is already well known, and they might make a few dollars if one of those people who downloads it makes a purchase through one of the affiliate links.

For anyone in the internet marketing niche, feel free to download my EBook “E-Business; The Insider’s Edge” and use it for a giveaway on your site until you are able to write your own. The only thing I ask is that you keep it intact, as I did invest 3 months into putting this resource together.

To start growing your email list today, head over to Aweber and get started today, and before you know it you’ll be enjoying just one more source of revenue each and every month.

The Appeal of Making Money Online

internet marketing

Why is it that so many people flock to the internet in the hopes of making some easy money? Is it that they think there really is such a thing as push button marketing? I guess in a way there is. Someone visits your website, clicks the buy it now button and purchases something you have for sale, and presto you make some money!

What they don’t see is the pre-game warm-up, all of the hard work that goes before the sale. The research that went into the niche they chose the keyword research that they undertook in order to ensure they were focusing on the highest traffic keywords, with the least amount of competition. How about the competitor research? That’s always fun,  comparing your brand new site against websites that have been online for the last ten years, and have an advertising budget in the neighborhood of about a million dollars a year! That was a website that I was competing against for the keyword Internet Marketing, they were ranked number two (after Wikipedia) and I was ranked nowhere. I did my research, and learnt that they had spent over eight hundred thousand in online advertising last year alone! How the heck do you compete with that? (I’m currently ranked number 8 for that term, and number one for many others) and not because of 800k, but because of smart, hard work that I did myself!

So what is the appeal of making money online if so much work goes into the pre-game warm-up? I’d have to say that it’s the thrill of residual income. The earning money while you sleep part. I just love those emails from Clickbank, or PayPal telling me that I made money at some point during the night while I slept! It’s the thrill of knowing that some of the affiliate programs that I promote will continue to pay me for months, and years to come as my down line continues to pay their monthly Aweber, or Hostgator bill. These are just a couple of the reasons that I love internet marketing.

There is also the fact that tomorrow I can wake up whenever I feel like it, and I can build backlinks, or create content for my website, or add new assets to my business in so many different ways, whether it be in the form of Twitter followers, or Facebook fans, or simply adding chapters to my EBook that I intend to include in the Clickbank marketplace.

There is also the fact that I have met some of the most powerful online personalities in the online world either directly or indirectly and you might think that all of the internet marketing knowledge is held in their hands, but it isn’t by a long shot! I’ve met some of the people who have come up with some new and incredible ideas that are changing the way the internet works, and I have to say that I am the better for it! There is some amazing talent online, and if you only listen to what some of them have to say, you’ll be the better for it, and your business will benefit from it as well!

I make money online each, and every single day, and while it was nowhere near as easy as I was lead to believe, it is definitely worth it for me, and I will never willingly change it back to the way it was!
