Internet Marketing Resources

Welcome to the Resource Vault!

Here I wanted to list out all the resources that you and I can use to promote, and build our businesses into the dream’s we’ve established within our minds. Hard work alone is never enough we need both knowledge and tools in order to help us accomplish our goals in the most efficient manner possible.

As I come across new resources I’ll come back and update this page, so feel free to bookmark it for reference, and if you have any questions regarding any of them, or need any help implementing any of them, feel free to send me an email, and I’ll be more than happy to help out. Even if you just need someone to bounce domain suggestions back and forth with, I’m always happy to help!

Stage 1 – Getting Started

This is where it all starts! Choosing a memorable domain name and registering it, and then finding a hosting home for your website. Often these steps get rushed past for one reason or another, perhaps the domain was purchased with the site from Flippa, or the owner is simply in a rush to find a hosting company so they can get started as quickly as possible.

Choosing both a high quality domain, and quick responding, reputable host will become crucial down the line for you and your business. All the recommendations below are my own that I have come up with through research and rigorous testing.

Domain Services

Godaddy – Godaddy has long been the number one choice for registering domain names for one reason! Price! It’s hard to beat .99 cent domain sales of which they usually have a few each year. Even full price they are under the ten dollar mark, and I’d highly recommend registering for as long as you can afford. Ten year registrations are only $100.00 and bring both peace of mind and a sense of investment both to your readers, and to Google who sees you are planning on being around for a while.

Name Cheap – Name cheap is a viable alternative to Godaddy, and I’ve used them for close to ten years now as well.

Hosting Services

Hostgator – It’s hard to beat the support team over at Hostgator. These guys have bailed me out on more than one occasion during the wee hours of the morning when I was fooling around in areas I might better have sent an html expert. My hosting has always been reliable, and I’ve been with these guys since the very beginning.

Bluehost – If you are looking for more affordable hosting, and don’t require 24/7 support then Bluehost is a great alternative. I use these guys for niche sites that require very little maintenance or upkeep to run. It’s hard to beat $4.95 / month hosting fees.

Stage 2 – Customization

This is the part where you slowly change, and tweak your site until it evolves into something that is entirely unique, and tells a story about both you, and your business. I am a huge WordPress fan, and love the platform. By adding the StudioPress Genesis framework to my installation, I believe that I’ve come up with a winning combination for my business.

Adding high quality images can be a tricky situation for many who end up pulling images from other sites, or from Google Image search. A much better solution is to purchase a one ($199) or three month ($499) membership with Fotolia that will allow you to download 25 images per day resulting in 750 or 2250 high quality images that you can use to enhance the featured content you post to your site for years to come.

WordPress – WordPress is the content management system chosen by many in our industry. It’s powerful, and yet easy to use.

StudioPress – If you’re looking for a solid framework and theme to add to your WordPress installation, then I’d highly recommend taking a look at what Brian has to offer. Not only did I love the look of my site more after switching over, but I was also able to customize it exactly how I wanted.

Woo Themes – If StudioPress isn’t to your liking Woo Themes, has hundreds more themes you can take a look at, remember, after you’ve chosen a theme you can continue to customize, and tweak it to perfection. (It’s a never ending journey really)

Fotolia – I researched dozens of image hosting companies and finally went with Fotolia, both for the quality of the images, and for the pricing structure which was lower than all the rest, yet included more liberal usage rights. For $199 you can choose up to 750 images that you’ll be using for years to come.

Stage 3 – SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Building an attractive website or blog, and filling it with great content isn’t quite enough. We all have to work hard performing SEO (search engine optimization) on you site in order to feature prominently within the search engine rankings and results. Obviously the more SEO work you perform, the higher you’ll rank, and your traffic will reflect that.

Unique Article Wizard – Unique Article Wizard is a great site owned by Dr. Noel Swanson that allows users to quickly build relevant backlinks by using uniquely configured blog posts. I used this site for many months, and still use it to launch new sites.

Market Samurai – For keyword research this is my number one choice. If you are looking to find new niches or even new keywords for existing ones, this is the software for you. It’s a powerful suite of tools that definitely pay for itself in no time.

Bookmarking Demon – Social bookmarking is a great way to build some backlinks to either your homepage, or individual blog posts. Running

Internet Business Promoter – This is a great piece of software to assist you with landing your site on page one of Google, but after that becomes useless. (I guess they figure 1st page is good enough) I do love using this software, and use it at least weekly.

Rankpay – RankPay is an SEO company that has been featured on many media outlets due to the unique arrangement they setup with their clients. If you don’t rank… You DON’T PAY!!! Good deal!

Stage 4 – Monetization

While many of us launch blogs to express our creative sides, the majority of my readers are looking to earn a living with their blogs, and monetization is something that needs to be approached from all angles in order for us to determine the income streams we are going to focus on, and the one’s we won’t. The tools listed below are all tools that will facilitate the monetization strategies that I and many others are utilizing in order to take payments, facilitate email, twitter, and Facebook marketing, and much, much, more!

Email Marketing

Aweber – I use, and love Aweber and have had total success with them for years.  These guys would definitely be my first choice recommendation to you. Most people will tell you the “Money is in the list” but to be honest, I’d say so is the traffic! If you’d like to try it for just $1 click the link and sign up!

iContact – iContact has been a loyal advertiser on my site for a while now, and while our relationship has been one sided (only because I found Aweber first) I’d be remiss for not including them in my list of resources. They are a solid company with an impeccable reputation, and they are offering a free 30 day memberships as they are 100% confident in their service.

Payment Processing

PayPal – PayPal is the payment processing platform of choice for many.

E-Junkie – If you are looking to offer either digital or hard goods for sale on your site, an option for your buy now, or add to cart shopping cart solution is E-Junkie.

Twitter Marketing

Twitter is actually a great source for both traffic, and income when you learn to use it properly. It’s important to approach twitter from two fronts. 1. The

Tweet Attacks – Tweet Attacks is one of my favorite pieces of software! It allows me to schedule my tweets in advance, grow my followers, clean out unfollowers, and more.

Twiends – Twiends is a social introductory website that helped me grow both my Twitter account, and my Facebook fan page. Unfortunately they’ve pulled some of the features that made them great, and are left with only the Twitter

TweetDeck – Managing multiple conversations on Twitter can be a challenge; this free software platform makes the process much simpler, and will most likely become a routine part of your social day.

SocialOoph – There is both a free and paid version of these sites services, but I’ve always gotten along with just the free. I mainly use them to send an automated DM (direct message) to my new followers. This allows me a chance to introduce myself, and tell them a little about my website, fan page, or any other offer I choose.

Knowing ahead of time which tools other marketers are currently using can go a long way toward furthering your own progress. Each of the tools or services listed above are tried and true, and have solid reputations within the internet marketing community. Without these tools, I know I would still be fumbling around in the dark, wondering why everything seemed to be taking so long. I will keep researching, and adding to this list over time, and when one ceases to be useful I will remove it from this list. I’d like to wish you each the very best in success with your own business, and reiterate that if there is anything at all I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.
