If you’re going to go into business these days, then it’s absolutely crucial to have a website for your business. If you’re going to have a website for your business, then it’s absolutely crucial for you to have a reliable web hosting service for your website. You can spend lots of time, money, and effort on internet marketing and making your website user-friendly with a cutting edge-design and aesthetic, but none of that will matter if your website is constantly inaccessible due to server maintenance issues. When it comes to web hosting, features and price are important, but cool features at a killer price are no substitute for a reliable host.
The most important reliability factor for a web host is downtime and maintenance. Every server needs to be maintained, which necessitates regular downtime. But the length of time that the servers are down, how long they’re down while they’re being maintained, and how often they’re down are all indicators of the quality of the web hosting service you’re getting. The purpose of your website is internet marketing, and you can’t very well market to people if they can’t access your site. A certain amount of downtime is necessary, but a good, reliable host should be able to maintain their servers efficiently so that downtime is minimal.
Another important factor in web hosting is security. There are few things more frustrating than when your personal computer or laptop becomes infected with a virus. A virus will significantly slow your computer’s performance and possibly even destroy files and try to infect the computers of anyone in your contact list. Now, imagine what would happen if this virus not only infected you and all of your contacts, but anyone who ever visited your company’s website as well. This is not the kind of viral internet marketing you want to engage in. A reliable host should have top-notch security to prevent this from ever happening to your website.
Finally, when considering web hosts, you should think about tech support. Every website runs into glitches every once in a while, and it can be very frustrating to sit on the phone and wait to be connected to a representative while your website is down and you’re losing potential customers. If you have to wait forever on the phone, then this means that a lot of other users are having problems as well, which is an indication that this host isn’t worth the trouble. Your website is the key to your internet marketing. Give it the support it needs.
These are the three companies that I currently use.
For Domain names I use GoDaddy
For Reliable Hosting I use Host Gator
For Affordable Hosting I use Blue Host

This is a really important topic. Companies often don’t think about how much work it is to move hosts after a few years – but with email, web apps, hosted files, multiple domain names and so on it can be a difficult and very time consuming process if you don’t pick right the first time around!
The only suggestion I’d add to the article is to also test the speed of the host – some serve pages up a lot faster than others, especially if you’re using web apps or dynamic content.
A fine piece of information. Reliable and secure hosting is the must for all the websites and the back bone of the website, when it becomes a popular website. Nothing is more dreadful than opening a website with a warning of virus on it. Such websites often become laughing stock.
Thanks, for me I was getting “suspended” by my host because I was “using to many resources”! I can’t tell you how bad and unprofessional I felt even though my sites would be down for perhaps an hour at tops. I finally switched to a VPS and they’ve left me alone since.
