Make Your Business Profitable: Five Easy Steps To Promote Your Website

seo stepsBuilding your own new website does not mean you can relax and let it do all the work. If you have built it in “Field of Dreams” people won’t necessarily come, unless you ask them to. This is where promotion of web site steps in. It provides or rather helps to establish a link between the site you’ve built and to every person whom you want to come see your website.

It is observed that new site owners either do not know that they need to promote their new site or simply follow the usual trend of only promoting their site on the search engines like MSN, Google etc. It is always important to promote your site on all major and minor search engines, but one should always promote their website locally as well.

Points to promote your site locally are:

1. Advertising through Local Newspaper and press releases: Write a small article about your website or business and submit it to the newspaper. Almost all local papers have a section assigned to introduce your business to the area. Another way to make sure that your business can be found on the net is through press releases. This will be a formal release giving details of your business. You can find many places on the web where you can publish press release for free. The advantage to this is that local papers also run these releases.

2. Business Cards, Bill Books Etc.: Print your business cards, bill books and other handouts with your website URL on it.

3. Niche Marketing: Be sure of the keywords you choose, include local cities, towns and landmarks. Suppose a person types in “Used electronics” in the search box, there will be thousands of results. When they narrow their search to “Used electronics ‘Town name’”, your web site will be high in the list.

4. Visiting Cards: Be sure your web site URL is on all paper correspondence, bills and off course on your visiting or business card.

5. Niche Marketing: This is very important and gives a boost to your website. Always be sure that your keywords include local towns, cities and landmarks (both in keywords and tags). Suppose a person types in “Electronics” in the search box there will be thousands of results, but when the search becomes more precise to “Electronics ‘City name’”, then your website will be in the top listings. Lastly you can always display your website URL in your work place or other public places where more people might see it. And as we know the more often someone visits your web site URL the more likely they will remember it when they need that particular product.
