Facebook beats out Google

Facebook vs. GoogleSo you still don’t believe that social networking is the way to go when it comes to your internet marketing campaign?

Think again!

No one is saying that you have to rely solely on this, but it really should be an integral part of your strategy. If you’re still busy scoffing at this then maybe this news will sober you up. Did you know that Facebook exceeded Google this week as the most visited website in the United States?

The figures quoted by Experian Hitwise show that Google got a whopping 7.03% of all visits. This might not seem like a large percentage but consider the number of websites out there and you’ll begin to understand what this means. Facebook got 7.07%. Granted it wasn’t a great big lead but who would have ever thought that any website would have a chance of beating the search giant.

These numbers only reflect visitors to Google’s main site, not any of their affiliations such as Google News, Google Maps, Google Earth, and so on, Still, it is important because this isn’t the first time that it’s happened and it’s likely to happen again. What does this mean when it comes to marketing? Simply put, there’s a massive market on Facebook. If you can target your ads right you can have access to millions in the United States alone, much less across the world. So what are you waiting for? Start your Social Media campaign today!
