Hi guys,

I am having 2 different types of membership cards made up for this forum.

One is an auction membership card where people can buy 5 action listings fro the price of one. These sell at $57.

The other type of card is an AD membership card where people will get 5 Ad spotes in the header of the main forums. It also shows in the index page. These cards will sell for $167 each. Individually, they sell for $40 (for now).

But the price will increase for this second card once the forum gets going really well.

You can make money by selling these cards in a JV partnership with us. I'm talking some serious money here, not penuts or ad spots.

You get a 50% commission on each card you sell.

If you are interested, let me know by posting in this thread.

This way I can find out if there is good interest.

Okay great! This is what we had in mind so everyone can get an idea:

We are going to offer membership cards for things like Auction listings and advertisement spots in the main header area of the forum (between the chat box and the Navbar - some of you may remember where I had the firesale ad located).

Normal price for each auction listing is $15. I am asking for $57 per membership card that allows each prospect to get 5 auction listings. There is no expiration date for the listings or card, meaning listings are redeemable anytime for the doration of the forum. If someone were to buy 5 auction listings, it would cost $75.

The Ad membership cards will work similarly, but the price for a weekly ad spot in the header area normally costs $40 but will eventually cost more depending on the traffic, surp listings, etc ...

For argument sake, I was going to sell these cards for $157 now as an upsell to the auction cards, then raise the price after the forum starts doing better. Each ad runs for $40 now, so buyers will get one free ad if they buy the membership card at this present time. To be fair about it, these Ad spots are also redeemable at any time for the life of the forum. This part of the deal can be used as added incentive to buy now before the price increase.

I can go a couple of ways with commissions:

1) Offer JVers membership cards for every X amount they sell, then they can keep them, or give the cards as bonuses to special friends, or their own members for special occasions.

2) Offer 40% commission from the Auction Cards, and 60% of the upsell for Ad membership cards.

3) Offer 50% commission for each type of card, and sell them individually.


Unless you guys state otherwise, we will most likely go with #1 or #2 because you guys will make the most profit that way.

In relation to membership cards Mary, I haven't seen this done before. I think it's a great idea and should be an effective way to get members to participate, and an incentive to refer others to the forum.

If members get good results from the auctions and ads in MSF, it should be fairly easy to get many members to promote these membership cards as the forum develops (maybe encourage them to show proof of how effective the auctions and ads are, to potential customers).

I'm not sure if this could be done, but one idea I have about promoting activity on the forum would be to reward people who participate and help others frequently on the forum. For example, if a member gets 'Thanked' x number of times, they receive a reduced rate or even a free auction or ad listing for a certain amount of time.

It will be interesting to see this when its implemented.

Yeah, I'd like to make money from this threa too. You seemed to come up with an original concept. Let's put it this way. I haven't seem this type of thing done yet, but I guess that doesn't mean people haven't been doing it.

I think Admin mentioned that credits will be given out for free auction listings and ads as rewards for people who post good quality content, and help people. I can't remember where I saw it, but I did see it posted someplace. It might be in that credits thread.

Welcome to MSF Forum!

This post was about an idea for an affiliate program. What we were going to do is allow people to sell a membership card to two different types of cards. One offered 5 auction listings for a specific price, and the other offered 5 ads in the header area of the forum all redeemable at any time for the life of the forum.

So basically, you would sign up to become a forum affiliate and sell the cards, and then you'll recieve a certain percentage of the income for each card you sell. Say if a card cost $47, and you were an affiliate, you would make say 50% of the income per card depending on the percentage agreed upon in the affiliate program.

If we decide to sell one, and then create an "Upsell" (means to also offer another deal while buyers are in the process of buying the first deal) for the other card at the same time, you would get a %50 cut for the first card + 50% of the upsell which gives all affiliates the opportunity to gain 2 income streams from one sale.

And the last option would be that if we decided to bumdle the 2 cards together for a high price, you would make 50% of the total income from the bundle.

BUT, we decided in the end to allow people to publish auction listings for free for the time being ... at least until the marketplace picks up.

Eventually though, we will be offering an affiliate program for the membership cards. We're just not sure when.

The prospect seems interesting to me however is it something to do with affiliate marketing.It seems this will work well here on the forum and it will be successful.When are you planning to come out with this,hopefully the response you might have got is good.However,i would love to know more about it.

This is something we were planning in the early stages of the forum development, but decided to off the services for free for now.

But, we may offer this program at a later date.

I want to make money using this forum. How does this concept actually works. Even many people, only want the service for free of cost , their doesn’t want to spend money and do the posting, You can have a look google and yahoomail providers, their provide mail service to everyone free. Like that you also provide in that same way .

Yes, it's true some people only want to post for free, but others do pay to post their advertisements, products, etc ... on forums like this one. For instance, look at SitePoint and places like that. Eventually, the marketplace in this forum will run like SP.

As far as mail servers go, that is too much liability for us to handle. Yahoo and Google are big enough and make enough income to compensate for law suites, fines by the FTC, etc ...

We don't pay each member money to refer people here true, but we do have a cash prize we give away each month to the person who refers the most people to MSF. Plus we use a credit system where we give credits to you for each person you refer. Then you get to purchase other products or services with the credits you've earned.
