Default My first giveaway event!

As someone who is pretty tech-challenged and has very little knowledge of any coding, HTML or otherwise, this was a pretty tough few days for me but boy! I feel so good that I did it!

I became a contributor at my very first giveaway event. Now, the product creation part isn't difficult for me. But creating sales pages and squeeze pages and all that sort of thing took forever!

I've decided now that I have all this stuff in place, I'm going to do a couple more giveaways between now and Christmas. Way too much work to not use again, you know?

I would rather have buyers on my lists than freebie seekers but I figure it's worth a shot. I did pass giveaway rights with both of my freebies, of course with some affiliate links in there as well as links to my other products.

I'm hoping to do fairly well as it was also my first time doing an OTO (one with each giveaway item) and I think those will go over pretty well.

What is your experience with giveaway events? Love'em? Hate'em? Eh?

Hi Tina,

Way to go girl! Good job!

Lol yeah, I remember what that was like. I was totally techie challenged, but now I can do just about anything from set ups to installations to simple bug fixes. The knowledge and skill comes in handy too.

I wish you luck with your giveaway.

I was thinking ... I haven't done one of them in at least 2 years. Yeah I used to do them and got pretty wrapped up with a team who did them a couple times a year for a 2-3 years. I though they were going to be fruitful, and they were the first few times, but then all we were getting mostly untargeted freebie seekers.

It seemed like the junk outweighed the fruit if you know what I mean, so I decided to build my lists using other methods.

It's really a matter of preference though to me. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for someone else. And the timing too makes a difference because it seemed like each season or fiscal quarted had different results.

I prefer to build a customer list more than a freebie seeker list so I wasn't going to even do giveaway events. But since it was for a good cause, I figured why not and it is a good way to get my name out there, at least.

BUT! I did put a special one time offer on the download page so hopefully that will help me find some that aren't just freebie seekers.

Best of Luck Tina... When I tested 4 or 5 of them months ago (my post is on WF someplace) I got freebie seekers.. The thing is I paid for upgrade at each one, I added in my OTO's and the products I gave away was brand new.

* graphics package1
* graphics package2
* php script

I added these products exclusive, meaning 1 was not on the other event. I tried 3 with the 3 products and after the event was over I tested 2 more with the 3 products.

I got some pretty bad signups although these events was created by some popular marketers.

Over-all I say they are not worth the time put in and certainly was not worth the money I paid as I never got a return on that money... I wish you luck though and hope you see different results..

James

I also included brand new products (I hate seeing the offers of 2 year old crappy ebooks). I did take the upgrade, so I could put more in and because it went for the charity.

James, that is what I'm worried about. Well, I shouldn't say worried because the experience alone is great for me. Gave me the kick in the pants I needed to really get some stuff done. And I now have products that I didn't have before so I did create new assets.

Plus I have actual sales pages now that I made, which is a new thing for me. And they look pretty decent, if I do say so myself...lol.

I learned a lot doing this and so it's worth it no matter what happens.

Yeah I did it to test them again, I did the same thing about 5 years ago and they was useless then but I figured maybe they changed since then ...lol

I look at it as basically I paid to learn something although it would have been better if they money for the upgrade went to a charity vs the event owners bank account ...lol

Honestly speaking I haven't tried giveaway till now, as I don't know the benefits of it. Though I would like to know what are the benefits of giveaway and how does it help in preset and future marketing ?
