Hello friends,
I always wondered what does rss feed mean & how is it useful for our site/blog's traffic ?

Does it help us in earning more money through advertisement or something else?

It stands for "Really Simple Syndication" which means it is a simple means to syndicate content automatically to subscribers across the Internet (and sometimes PC desktops through other apps). Put that together with the word Feed, Web Feed, or RSS document, and you get a way or means for associations and groups to engage in an enterprise or promote a common interest.

Rss does not make you money. it is a means to get traffic. There are RSS feed sites that you can submit to so that people can follow the posts on your blog. i set all my rss feeds to post a summary. this way, people get an idea of what the post is about, but have to come to my site where the ads are in order to read the full article.

you can also use your rss feed to build up content on other sites. I use my rss feeds on hubpages and squidoo lenses to keep the content updated and fresh.

Rss feeds will create backlinks to your stuff when you submit them to rss directories. Basically it is an additional advertising method to get your website / offer out there. Almost everything these days has an rss feed and not just blogs.

You can go to someplace like feedburner to get your feed, and it doesn't cost you anything. Just register and follow the directions on the screen. Most blogs have the RSS icon, so simply link the icon with the feed url you get from FB.

As far as using it the most effective way goes, you can submit the feed to RSS feed dorectories. Plus link it everywhere you can just like you do with your web addresses. You can also put your feed in your membercp in most VBulletin forums, so when you register to some of them add it.

If you are running a blog, they come with a rss feed already. you can use a site like feedburner, which helps to format the feed in an easy to read system, but you don't have to. Then, submit your feed to rss feed sites, and often you can get some traffic flowing to your site as people check out what you have.

you can also take your feeds and add them to your squidoo lenses, hubpages, facebook, and other social sites, so that your friends there are updated every time you update your blog.

You can also feed your rss feed into websites such as facebook ... My article directory main feed is fed into my facebook account so each time an author publishes an article it is posted on my wall...

You can go to profile then in the middle of the page you will see "options" link click on it and it will turn into a "settings" link. Click on that and some options will show up and one of those is Imported sites: Blog/Rss - click on the Blog/Rss and it will ask for your blogs feed url.

You can also join sites like Content Syndication and Article Marketing to create an entire profile with your rss feeds. They have modules you can add and configure that you can put your rss feed url in. Then the page is auto updating.

You blog rss feed (using wordpress) will look something like yourdomain.com/feed/

If you do not have an rss feed attached to your blog pm me and I will set you one up and give it to you free of charge . . You probably do though. look around on your blog . If you see an RSS button on it or even in your address bar click on it and notice the address in the bar . This is your feed URL.

I didn't got any RSS feed by default with my blog
I've kept one with the help of feedburner

Now, I would like to understand how does RSS feeds help me get more traffic to my blog ?
I'm confused,How does by keeping a orange color symbol (rss feed symbol) bring traffic ?

There are several ways. go to sites that allow rss feed submissions. There is a list in that thread on a nother forum of feed submission sites. people browse those feedsites looking for information. when they find your feed, they can subscribe to it, and follow all of your posts. This will of course bring you more traffic.

people can also subscribe from your blog. This way, regular visitors get a preview of what you have posted.

If you have multiple blogs, you can put your rss feed in the sidebar of different blogs, updating those.

Everwhere you post your rss feed will also be building backlinks back to your site, increasing your search engine rankings, and creating traffic to your site that way as well.

With the right plug ins, you can set up a blog that feeds itself from another blog, making posts out of the rss feed summaries, then linking back to the main blog.
I have several blogs set up that do this, building instant backlinks to my main blog.
i am currently testing the Wp-o-matic plug in for this. so far, having a few issues with it, but I am tweaking the settings to see if it is just not set right.

you can add that feed to your hubpages, squidoo lenses, FB profile, etc... so that every time you update your blog, all of your friends on these sites will see your update. i have a fan page on FB that is totally run by rss feed submitting my new blog posts, linking back to the main blog.

you can also set up your rss feed with your autoresonder. I have an email that goes out every friday with the last weeks worth of blog posts updated every week. This automatically goes out to my email list. You can set it up to go once a week, doing a summary, daily, if you post every day, or every time you submit a new post to your blog. This way your list gets a valuable email with no pressure for a sale, and you get the word out about your latest post.

you can add your authors feed to your FB profile, posting your articles on the directories to your facebook account every time you post.
There are tons of ways to use rss feeds, explaining them all would take an ebook several hundred pages long.
these are just a few tips that you can use quickly.

A lot of people still don't take advantage of rss as much as they should. many popular article directories have an author's feed that you can also submit to these rss directories, building backlinks and traffic to your articles.

But still I have one doubt, as setting up rss is free and very easy, there may be millions of websites having it , right ?

Now how does a surfer/internet user will see your rss feeds ? and if the user sees it and want to read about it, rss would be vanish from the list in fraction of seconds, right ?

No if you post your rss feed to rss directory such as - Affiliate Marketing Articles Content and Social Media Bookmarks 15279258 Feedage.com - then you will see atthe top of this page there are rss readers.

People subscribe to your feed with their chosen reader, every time your feed is updated then so is there reader. Your feed remains there on the site.

Look at it like this on the computer you have "widgets" I guess they are called that on windows (I run Mac) ... These widgets can be system stats, the weather, daily news, and etc...

The widgets pull information from a website or your computer system (stats) and update it each time there is new information. Rss Feeds work the same way...

No lol neither.

What happens is that every time you post an article to your blog it is automatically added to your feed. That's an automatic process.

To add your blog RSS (or Atom which you can do also on some of the directories) feed to an RSS directory, simply copy and past your feed link or URL into the submission form of each RSS directory, and follow the directions on your screen. There are quite a few RSS directories on the Internet, so you have to add your feed to each of them. You can Google for them to find these directories.

I think James Stein has an automated piece of software or script he created and is now selling that will post your RSS feed to most of the major RSS feed directories. He will have to post the link to his site so you can check it out cause I don't have time to look for it at the moment.

Basically RSS feed is a way to add fresh content on site. When you add RSS feeds to sites it will get updated automatically with headlines and snippets of new content from your RSS site sources.
It is good source for a lot traffic through it you can get a high search engine rank and you can increase your site visitors.....
