I feel for the newbie marketer of today . Back when I started online ... life was simple .

Put up a little content .. people would come . While there has always been snake oil salesmen , today's new marketer is faced with a lot more than I ever was .

Big red letters filled with blatant hype and false hope is hiding around ever corner . Actually my 6 year old could beat them at a game of hide and seek any day .

Just don't understand how the lairs and thieves continue to prosper in the wide open without some type of control being instilled . Sadly when new regulations come out to protect the innocent , it is the honest marketer that seems to pay the price .

If the truth shall set you free.... those with ears .. listen.

No magic pills or potions exist for a long term, honest , legal business model.

Sitting in your underwear and making millions , while reminding yourself to breath, is a lie , not a myth .

Making money online calls for a certain amount ... are you ready for this ... work.

I won't go into how much I make online but I will tell you I was online 14 hours yesterday and at least 12 of those hours were spent working . I am not looking for a 9 to 5 job or a 4 hour work week lol.

Planning is step one in making it online . Set up a plan and stick to it . Evaluate the plan from time to time . Ramp up what is working and change what is not .

Decide what you want to do online .

Affiliate marketing , product production, adsense , physical products , services .... let your imagination run wild .

Now dedicate yourself to one aspect for 30 days . Do not jump around . it is tempting I know . Been doing this over ten years and I still feel my legs twitch on occasion.

Set up a website .. don't be afraid to use a wysiwyg editor .

Promote your sites via articles , forums , and basically any other channel that you can CONTRIBUTE to.

Dedicate a certain portion of your time to building a list and building a relationship. Do not worry about selling to this list for a while . I have had list members ask me if I ever sold anything ... I say why yes ... since you ask ... I do.

I do not believe 97% of marketers fail online . I honestly have never seen concrete evidence for any percentage . I do wonder how many marketers fail just inches away from success.

RE: failure rate....is what the hypers use to convince a new (not really a marketer yet) person to buy; to prevent becoming a part of that statistic.....

From reading the forums, it is easy to see how many buy into the set up a blog, place some adsense and get rich theory.....

Many don't have much of an idea as to what real marketing involves.
We know it goes far beyond the construction of a well coded website..

Most have never "sold" anything in their lives and have little experience with interpersonal interaction....and never run a business...

They come to the golf match carrying a putter.....
Then they come to the forums and ask "how do I make money? or what is SEO?

Once saw a police rookie who completed 12 weeks of academy training and quit after one day on the street....His reason "It is not what I thought it would be?"

Neither is doing business and even more so on the net.....

For someone who has never done any,,,,doing it all is overwhelming....

Based on my past business experience 14 hours is part-time....

Yep it takes work .. After 15+ years I still work 16 - 18 hours a day online but I love what I do and would not trade it for any 9 to 5 job. You do not have to work 12, 16, or even 18 hours a day online to make money though.

Making money online is one of the easiest things, yes you read that correct.. It's easy! How easy depends entirely upon you and not some ebook or ecourse you wasted money on.

Let me show you how easy it really is... This may not be for everyone and some may downright hate this idea but we are talking about building a business here that is going to pay your bills every single month and even get you debt free..

Do you realize how many people hate to post on their own blogs or they just do not know what to post ? The numbers would amaze you of how many start a blog and it does good but then dies because they do not post on it.

Ok so we have a problem here don't we ? Well, let's create a solution then...

Offer your services as a ghostwriter for these people and charge them based on a package not on per post, for example...

Package #1 - 10 post on your blog about X subject, these post will be constructed according to your instructions (word limit 200 words). $4.97

Package #2 - 20 post on your blog about X subject, these post will be constructed according to your instructions (word limit 250 words). $9.97

Package #3 - 2 post a day n your blog about X subject, these post will be constructed according to your instructions (word limit 250 words). $19.97 per week

Package #4 - 3 post a day n your blog about X subject, these post will be constructed according to your instructions (word limit 250 words). $39.97 per month

Now you can change the prices but the point is here offer them a price they can not refuse.. Once you get a few hundred customers then you can raise the prices by a few dollars (raise it slowly).

This sounds like a great deal of work and I will agree it is so after a thousand or so customers and working this for a good 8 - 12 months. You have an established set of customers that love your work and will continue to pay you over and over.

Now it's time to turn this into a long term business... Take some of your profits and hire a coder to create you a control panel that will allow you to post to all your customers sites directly from your control panel and have them code it so you can pre-schedule post to these sites (drip feed).

So now you have a system setup on your server that only you have access to and you can save a great deal of time by setting everything up on pre-schedules.. So you spend a week setting everything up for that month and you have 3 weeks left in the month to build your business more, relax, go out with the family or whatever..

At this point you should be making a steady $500+ a month easily (assuming you did keep your customers happy).. So you have turned a service business into a long term business..

Does this business model work ? Well, I would not have posted it if I did not already test it. Yes it works..

I should know as I did exactly just this with my bookmarking service which I started about 16 months ago. My prices started at $8.77 for 1 url submission to 100 bookmarking sites. Today that price is $12.62 and I have many many other packages and some are even over $100.00

While I am not going to say what I have made I will say this... I have dealt with thousands of bookmarking customers many which are repeat customers. I have made over $20,000 in 12 months from bookmarking alone.

Now I have build in ArticleProductions the ability for my members to do bookmarking to 160+ sites and I own a network of 150+ sites.. So now this increases the value of my AP Membership even though my members do not have the full ability to bookmark to as many sites as I do, they do have a good many sites.

So you see there is no excuse why you can't make money or fail.. Services such as this will "ALWAYS" be needed, while it may be tedious work and at times you may not feel like doing it - You are paying your bills and making a living...

This same business model can be done with articles, classified ad posting, rss feeds posting, and etc ...

People make things to complex, making money online and building a business does not have to be that complex. Yes it requires work and at time it requires a great deal of work. You may not feel like doing that work but this is why you have a plan and goals..

Settings goals for yourself will help you reach them much faster, easier, and with less stress...

For those that have tried and failed.. I have one thing to say to you ...

Look at your failure in the face and learn from it and then MOVE ON! losers focus on what they are going through - winners focus on what they are going to...

I focus on what I am going to do .. trouble is I think I focus on one step too far ahead ... like how I am going to spend all this money I haven't made lol

The human mind is a funny thing . It needs a point of focus . A picture in your mind of the money at the end of the tunnel is a good thing .

The mind focuses on the end picture or if one is not there ... it replays past failures .

And no, I don't know of any majic pill that cures all or makes money at will. but I can say you can make money using very basic skills and strategies. James posted a very solid plan, and there are many others out there. It just depends on what the individual wants to do, can do, and is willing to do.

BUT, all of them do take some work, effort and skill. And sometimes capital.

What do you mean there is no magic pill?

Of course there is not a magic pill...however that does not mean people like me with tons of business experience and training did not fall for some real good sales letters.

Paying for an education has never been a problem or issue with me, however you want to make sure it is valid information that you are paying for.

Some of the magic bullets I bought I think were to at least speed up my process, however like anything it does take a plan, action and hard work. Even then you are not guaranteed success.

Sure I would love to earn, easy passive money but what happens is passing my gut check. Even if I am doing a niche under a pen name, though I can hide (who I really am) I know in my gut whether it is really helping someone or not.

So when my gut check says no guess what I change the monetization tactics of the site.
