most probably you already read somewhere that giving away a free ebook will get you tons of visitors -
I tried this myself and to be honest it wasnt such a great success -

But I still like the idea to give someting away for free - a great idea would to give something away for free which is
sort of unique, has "value" and doesnt cost you an arm and a leg..

What about giving away those fake Million Dollar Bills with your URL - some are really cheap while others (those of higher quality)
cost you usually more than a few bucks. If you do your own design you could print them even cheaper
(but check with the Feds first) LOL

IMO thats a great idea if you own a "Make Money Blog" or want to teach people how to make money online -
Print your URL on it and make you whole town "rich" by giving them away (I guess that wont work if you live in L.A.) ;-)))

Check Bing and you will find plenty of sites where you can order your Millions of Dollars...

I agree ... I am coming up with a facebook game that will allow contributors to give away their ebooks. It will be something totally different from some jv giveaway events which normally only get you free seekers anyways.

My idea is to helpfully help you have your free ebook go viral ... I have not had time to finish it yet but hopefully soon..

The give away, among other things, has got to be targeted.....

It does no good to have dog owners come to your fish food site....

Ebooks can go viral if they offer value "to the reader".....again targeted....
Show someone how to do something they "want" to do.....Needed information...

I agree that it's important to target the type of freebie you are giving away to the market your site is involved with. For that, you need to have a good understanding of that market, and in particular the needs of that market. Then you create your linkbait freebie to cater to those needs.

A lot of the information used to target your market can come from using the forums that are related to your niche....

Look at the problems the members are talking about......answer those problems with a freebie....wham...subscribers...

Solid marketing is based on research....fads can generate a quick buck....

Long term requires more work...but in that long run can generate income for many years...

I will expand on it a bit later ... It is a 100% unique idea that nobody else is doing. I love 100% unique idea as I am one that certainly does not follow the crowd...
