You will not have customers, or need to worry about customer service, or worry about doing any marketing at all unless you have a Plan with clear Goals set first ...

The most important thing is to 1) have a plan, 2) make sure that plan revolves around what your customer wants (not how great your product is) and 3) to work the plan consistently until it pays off.

In the marketing i think the most important thing is on which your marketing relay called marketing plan and marketing strategy. In the marketing plan you describe that how you will implement the marketing strategy every process and structure which will happen to complete the targets.
