Orkut has thousands of Indians, Brazillians, so advertising anything via orkut to these people may bring good results as there are no big restrictions there. Have you ever tried and what were the results ? I got good traffic from orkut communities.

Don't know weather you have heard it or not but Orkut has started a new service "promotion" by the help of it you can promote your site/blog or anything you want right to the desktop of the user profile.

It helps me gain some traffic for my blogs.

ever tool at article productions,
article submissions to web 2.o sites,

videos on youtube, dailymotion, and other sites,

commenting on blogs relevant to your site,

basically, building links to your site on websites that actually get traffic and will send some of it to you.

Yeah, I agree too! This is the backbone of all traffic to your sites, and PR if you pay attention to it. To me though, the traffic (targeted) is the most important to get the clicks or sales.

i quit worrying about google after I met james. i dont pay attention to pr, do/no follow, or anything like that. i do kw optimize my content, but I focus more on what traffic I can get.

I spent 2 hours today posting blog comments on no follow pr0 blogs, because they get a lot of traffic, and I am a member of their community. I get about 100 visitors a week from the comments I leave on that blog.

Yup, orkut brings lot of traffic to your website via promotion service. According to a survey conducted,75% of your friend click on the the promotion ad, or whatever you call it, when they find title to be interesting and more than 50% click on the promote button if they liked your website or what you are sharing. You might be knowing some common interest of your friend, right ?
So it does bring lot of traffic.. The other tools which could be helpful in increasing traffic via orkut are like updating you status message, uploading images, videos. Also, you can get traffic via playing games on orkut
