There are many marketing methods to promote a website like directory submission, blog commenting, forum signatures, social bookmarking, etc. Which is the most effective way of promotion according to you?

Track each method to determine the most effective.....

The best one is the one that works best for you....but continue to use multiple methods....

Pay Per Click brings you the most qualified leads you can find out there?

The most effective method(s) are the ones that work best for you ... Do not try to do something you do not fully understand.

If you do not understand then get guidance and learn how to do a method properly or hire someone else that knows how to do it...

While you should be working on multiple methods you need to understand your own strengths and weaknesses.. If you are weak in something then you need to do the above..

For my needs article / content marketing is the easiest way to qualify traffic . In a lot of niches your competition clicks your links more than customers .

Not kicking PPC. Just saying anyone who really understands how to qualify traffic with it can own content marketing .

Clicks for a lot of the bigger keywords in the IM niche are over $3

The same keywords can be dominated for free if you understand the entire scope of SEO ( on and off) and understand a few things like the amount of time you keep a visitor on your site and the importance of out bound links , and the ability to take care of everything you can on your site .

The problem with many people is that they either try to use too many methods at one time, but have no idea how to use each method in the right way to get the best results for what they are trying to acheive.

In other words they simply do what they've heard or read that someone else has done without investigating or testing it. Or they use a few different methods at once where they can't track, test or tweak either of them.

I know I'm where Jim Gillum is at the moment - I use a few methods at one time, but I know how to work each individual marketing method because I took the time to investigate and test each prior to mixing and matching them. Plus I tend to do it for a short period of time, and then re-evaluate each method to make sure they are still as effective as when I started using them.

We have to remember that the Internet changes every whip stitch, therefore it is wise to test things all the time, so don't stay in the same rut to long.

Yes Mary - Always I try to stress for people to test .. sadly many do not and they just pass on the untested information they read someplace.

I am constantly testing things and sometimes that testing get others ticked off (as you seen) ... But hey it is better to test to find out something no matter what other may think or say..

Readthrough Marketing, it's new but I think it’s very clever, imagine instead of Click through (where the visits are usually short, sometimes skimming at best) here the reader stays on your site for a much longer time, reading every word of your sales pitch and they come back. I've been dabbling online for a couple of years (just recently decided to get serious with new site). PPC didn't perform well for me, but I had decent luck with forum posts and article marketing.

I think a lot of it depends on the product and one's target market. A less tech-savvy market might not respond to Twitter; but if technology is your product, it's a perfect way to prospect. Figure out how your prospects spend their time online, then meet them there.

Link building with article marketing will be the effective way for the promotion.

Social Media Marketing like facebook,Twitter will most effective one.
