When Twittering, whats more important to you: TONS of traffic or TARGETED traffic?
The ideal situation on Twitter would be TONS of TARGETED traffic. But if you had to choose between the two, which would you prefer?
Here's my position.
I understand the philosophy that "the more followers you have, the more you will sell." But I'm leaning toward TARGETED traffic...for this reason. If I'm using Twitter to help promote my business, I want to talk to people who share the same niche and interests that I do.
That's because these are the people who are more likely to click through to my website and purchase my product. And they are also people with whom I can identify and share interests with.

Hey Mike,
Targeted traffic is always better, so as far as Twitter followers go, I think much like you. Matter of fact, I don't keep all the people who request I follow them. There are too many Twitter abusers and other folk who simply do not bring in traffic or revenue for my liking.

I think Twitter is like any other list building method. It's better to have a smaller amount of people who are interested in what you have to offer than a larger amount of followers who are not.
One useful twitter tool I have found is Twellow :: Twitter Directory, Twitter Search, & Twitter Yellow Pages It's the yellow pages of Twitter and allows you to add your twitter profile. As well as promoting your twitter account, you can find and follow other twitter users by category.
