Re: What's your best advice for newbies just starting online marketing?
Hi Mike,
Here are a couple of things I say to every new person I work with, or make suggestions to:
1) Sit down and write out an assessment of your gifts, talents, etc ...
2) Take your best ones from #1 above, and figure out what you want to do. For instance, do you want to create a product, sell someone else's, or offer a service.
3) Research the market thoroughly to make sure what kind of a market you have for #2.
4) Create and write out a plan of action including goals, how to market yourself and what you came up with in #2, etc ...
5) Stay focused on one thing at a time at least until you obtain your desired goals before you run off and start another project.
6) Once you are successful with the first project, move on to the next - wash, rinse, and repeat what you just did, with the applicable steps above.
7) Never ever put all you money into one thing - in other words, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Diversify your assets!
8) Last but not least, do not buy everything in sight until or unless you have the money to. You can find a lot of free information on the internet, especially in forums like this one. If it is not posted, ask. Nine out of ten cases, people will respond freely and give solid advice. Why waste your money when you can use it on things like advertising, creating products or services, etc ...
