Voiceover work
With all of this talk of video marketing, I was considering the idea of offering some voiceover services. I am wondering if there is a market for this kind of thing and how much money there would be in it.
I have the voice for it (or so people have told me). And I have done plenty of stage productions, public speeches, singing, etc...
My idea is that people would email me the script for their video, I would record it on a digital voice recorder and email it back. Then they could put the video together.
Has anyone ever hired voice talent? Any idea what kind of prices people charge for this kind of thing?

Great question, I've wondered about that as well.

Re: Voiceover work
Hey Buffy,
There is a good size market for voice over if you have the talent for it. I know there are always people asking in the Warrior forum for this service, or if someone knows people who do this sort of thing.
Matter of fact, there was one guy that ran specials every couple of months in the WSO section for about 6 years running now. DP would be a good test market, and if you don't get many takers, go sign up for the WF, post the required amount of posts, then run an offer in the WSO forum. It costs $20 there though.
But I'd try DP before any place else. You know that forum better, and they know you over there too. You have a better rep there.

Re: Voiceover work
Well admin, you got yourself a referral at WF. I'm a member at most of the big webmaster forums anyway, I'm not sure why I hadn't signed up there yet.
I was doing some research into this last night and I did find Voices.com | #1 Voice Over Marketplace for Voice Overs and Voice Over Talent. Looks to be a good place to find work and to be found. Not crazy about sites where you have to pay a membership fee though.

Re: Voiceover work
Thanks for the referal!
Yeah, that might work, but I think you can do better by offering your services in DP or the WF. There are very few females who do this sort of thing, but females are in high demand at the moment.
Whichever weay you decide to go, just don't cut yourself short. Charge a good fee for your services.

Re: Voiceover work
First thing I would need to do is buy a digital voice recorder.

Re: Voiceover work
Hi Buffy,
When I joined the WF first I remember there was a member there who used to offer these services. I think his username was Audio and he previously read the news for one of the main tv networks. He seemed to provide a good service so it might be no harm to see how he works.
Shane.
