Default Replacing your blogger domain with your own

Hey everyone,

Today I bought a domain name to replace my blogger.com domain. Someone made a point to me in another forum that building up your blogger blog is actually increasing the value of the domain w/o the blogger.com in it. In my case my blog address was beerbrewingkits.blogger.com and someone else actually owns the beerbrewingkits.com I was, in a way, actually adding value to their domain. So I found some related and available domain names, picked the best one and spend $7.14 for the new domain name.

I case you didn't know blogger allows you to use your own domain if you'd wish, if your switching from their blogger domain they actually forward your traffic to your new domain so your readers and traffic still find you, even though you have a new domain.

Google is still hosting my site, but I will eventually host it myself on my own VPS. Another nice thing is their will be no issues at all moving my new domain vs. moving a blogger.com domain.

I'm no expert but if a blogger blog is successful its probably wiser to move it to a one of your own domains. I've never done this but I think it would give you more control and you own the domain. Has anyone here successfully used this approach?

It's the only way to go. You should always have your own domain name with your blog. When you host your own blog you have more control and you don't have anyone telling you what you can list and what you can't. And you can build name recognition. The name of the game in blogging is "FULL CONTROL."
