Me and my partner in crime, Shane are working a blog that we're are going to review and promote some affiliate products, mostly physical products, to be more specific.

I picked up a magazine that caters to this specific niche and I'd have to say this may be an overlooked resource for those looking to provide your customer with some valuable information. Not only that, but you see the types of advertised products in the publication. It would stand to reason that these advertisers know there is some ROI on paying for these advertisement spots so this could be a great way to see what your niche is paying for and then cater your niche site to that.

These publications also let you know what is "now"with your niche. Knowing that you will be able to quickly speak to, and offer you online readers / followers with some valuable and useful information that will help you gain respect with your audience.

You can get a lot from a $4 or $5 magazine. If your serious about giving your niche audience what they want or need this is a cheap investiment.

I think its a great way to keep up to date and learn more about a specific niche. It should also help generate some ideas for content that could be used online because you get to see current trends, information and opinions.

As you said Jason, companies advertising in magazines have already done the research, and if they regularly advertise it must mean they are having some success.
