Social Network Sites And IM
Hi All,
The popularity of social network sites like Facebook, Myspace etc. means there are thousands of people visiting these websites each day. Does anyone here have any success marketing to members of these sites, and whats involved?
I've thought about doing it, but I'm not sure what's the correct way to access these visitors, and what advertising is acceptable on these sites.
Shane.

Re: Social Network Sites And IM
I never did do much with myspace, so never really tried marketing there, but I know many that have had great success with it.
I am completely addicted to Mafia Wars on facebook. Since I am adding lots of "friends" for the sake of the game, I think I am going to try some marketing there and see what happens.
I've tried twitter and found it to be completely useless.

Thanks Buffy, a lot of groups for different niches seem to be emerging, but its difficult to know how to approach these groups. I've only used twitter a couple of times. There's so many messages being posted that I think its difficult to get your message across to other members.

Re: Social Network Sites And IM
There are a few social networking sites that have good backlinking power and show up well in the search engines: - Squidoo.com
- HubPages.com
- SlideShare.com
- ClipMarks.com
Be careful with Hub Pages! If you're too self-promotional, without offering good content, you'll get flagged!

Thanks Vince, I've used Squidoo and HubPages, but not the other 2. I'll checkout SlideShare.com and ClipMarks.com

Re: Social Network Sites And IM
Hey Guys,
I think I have a general idea of Squidoo, Hubpages, etc. but can you give a down and dirty explanation of how you use these? My understanding is they are used to get back links and direct traffic..but I'm sure there's more to them. I know it's a basic question but I'd be willing to bet someone else is wondering the same thing. If not, oh well I want to know.
Thanks,
Jason

What exactly is it that you would like to know? I think I have some pretty good experience with Squidoo, but I have never used Hubpages.
