Hi Gang,

I noticed someone in another forum had "This Sig $60 Month" in their signature.

This particular person had a ton of posts. Is this something new or did I just notice something that's been around a long time? I guess for someone who is highly respected and posts frenquently, this could be considered valuable property space, and would get a lot of eye balls.

Interesting... What do you guys think? Anyone want to rent out mine? $.05 / month....any takers........ I didn't think so. lol

I have never seen that sort of thing on the forums visited by me.Can you please explain me what's the advantage by doing that?Will have to do some study on this.

I've made quite a few bucks by renting my sig links at Digitalpoint. They have some SEO value (it counts as a backlink - but it's debatable exactly how valuable that backlink is) but they really can bring in some traffic, especially if you have something catchy for your anchor text.

I also have rented out my avatar space at digitalpoint. As well as the recent blog feed, the location, and the homepage that shows on my profile.

Hey JB,

Once you get some PR to your profile, and a good high post count, you can sell that type of space for a good profit. You guys are welcome to do it here in this forum if anyone is interested. But I'd wait until things pick up a little bit.

Also, if you are going to rent out sig space, it will count just like your own links do in that you only have 5 lines of space regardless of who's links are in them.

Buffalo also mentioned DP forums - they used to let people do it. Maybe Buffy can let us in on whether they still allow people to do that over there.

I know most forums will only accept your own wesite URLs and that's it. I'll see if I can get a list together of some of the other forums you can rent space on. It will take me a few weeks to get that done though.

Actually DP is where I noticed this, last night. Being in a position where your sig space could bring in rent is a position we should all be striving towards.

Meaning, posting good quality posts on a regular basis, while having a little personality. Hopefully this will lead to building a following.

Yes, it is still allowed at DP, but they don't sell for what they used to sell for. Just like everything else, the market has dropped. You used to be able to figure on $10/month per 1000 posts (+/- depending on your reputation and visibility around the forum) and $5/month per 1000 posts for your avatar spot.

Now it all depends on finding someone willing to pay enough to make it worth selling it.

LOL. I would certainly have taken up your space if you had removed the decimal and placed the zero after the 5 to make irt $50 the perhaps it would have been a somewhat attractive proposition. In any case, $50 a month too is not attractive enough if one goes by what one can make posting on MTurk.
