Hi guys,

I guess it's about time to catch you guys up on some of the latest things that are going on behind the sceens.

1) If you see some strange things going on in the forum like any new bugs, error messages and whatnots, please notify the Admin pronto about it. If you received an error message, then either write it down, or take a screenshot of it so I can see it first hand, then post it in this thread.

Also, the forum may be up and down tomorrow while we are upgrading, fixing some things, and adding new mods.

2) Here is a list of the new things added this month, or that are going to be added tomorrow:

• Completed - Chatbox is now turned off. No one was using it, and it does eat a lot of resources. Plus, I have this feeling it will eventually distract people from posting on the forums if left up once this place gets rolling.

• Up and running, but still needs some modules - New left side column for featured products, and possibly special advertising block for members. Now directory listings for now - sorry, but it slows the forum down too much.
  
  
• Completed - Buy me a beer Mod so everyone can use it to buy and sell, and pay back members who help other members (just a thought).
  
  If you look in one of the threads you'll see a beer icon that says "Buy me a beer" next to it, you've found it.
  
  
• Completed - Hide BB code Mod from none registered users so we can post quality attachments like PDFs and other docs.
  
  
• Completed - Video Directory
  
  
• Completed - Video Directory Module for the Home / front page.
  
  
• Still working on this - fixing bugs in new adsense profit sharing system so all members can profit from the adsense on these forums.

3) We have a new video coming out of a series of videos to help market this forum a little better. If you are so moved and want to help market MSF, we encourage you to post the new video with a short comment about your experience here, and some benefits of the forum on your blogs, sites, and forums once it's finished.

Yes, we will post the first video on the Home page, and on YouTibe. We'll add new ones each month to YouTube once we get rolling.


4) We are seriously considering adding some valuable tools in the very near future to help build the forum up, and to help the members we have.

If you have any suggestions, by all means post them in this thread, or PM the Admin with your ideas.

Here are just a couple I've thought about:

Keyword tool
Site creation tool
Page tracker


There is one thing to consider when suggesting ideas, and that is to think about the cost of some of these tools.

These tools will most likely have to be special coded, so may take some time to complete, and possibly some fundraising.

I do believe that if it comes down to a fundraiser type of thing, a simple "Donate" buttom will do the job, or we can shoot for something like a charter membership type of deal where donating members receive special forum benefits. We'll just have to wait and see what developes.


As always, we'd like to hear from our members. If you have comments or suggestions, now would be a good time to speak up.

Just noticed the changes made - looking good I think its a good idea to remove the chat box, as it was mainly redundant.

Adding useful tools is a great way to get repeat visitors, so long as the tools are reliable. I've seen rss, sitemap generators and pinging scripts on other sites that might also be useful here for developers.

Some kind of video submission service might also be helpful, if members wanted to submit to multiple video sharing sites.

No sign of any bugs yet, but i'll keep an eye out

Yup, I thought so too about the chat box, but appreciate what you said.

I like those tool ideas and will work at it. I think I may have some scripts that will do the job in my external drive. Good thinking.

Btw, We do have a video submission service ... well directory. Lol didn't you see it yet? If not, look on the left side column or on the top red navbar to the right. Pretty cool huh?

Yes, please do keep an eye out for bugs. There is something keeping the forum from loading fast like it originally was. I think it's the directory images in the side column overworking the server. I may have to take out the directory module to see if that helps.

Anyway, we're working on that now, so if anyone is having problems getting the forum to load, just give us some time. It'll be back up and running right soon.

Hi Admin,its nice to know that some developments have taken place on the forum.Sure,it's going to be better.It's fine with no chat box,i never even knew one existed.Yes a donate button should work well in my opinion.Upgradation of the site is a must.However what benefits are you thinking of providing to the donating members?

Hey aakay4u,

We're not positive about what we will be offering charter members (people who donate). Just to give everyone a general idea though, here are some things we've been thinking about: special name ranks (badges), different colored username, go into the ad rotation at a higher ratio, be able to get into certain sections of the forums where regular members can't or have to pay to get in, and some products.

There will be things added each month too I'm sure like the use of extra tools and opportunities.

We probably won't be offering the membership until the forum picks up speed so charter members benefit more form offering to support the forum.

Nice to see a few changes here on the forum.This is definitely better now.Well it's nice that you have decided to add up some more tools here.Pinging back is one and it's very helpful.Hopefully the forum gathers momentum soon.In my opinion,the Donate Now button should work well here.
