Default Nice knowing you guys.

Well I just got an email... and apparently I've won a contest.

...Dear Winner,

This is to inform you that you have emerged winner of the ChevronCorporation National Lottery programme. which is fully based on anelectronic selection of winners using their e-mail addresses from somesites....

All I have to do is send all my personal information and they will send me the$50,000 that I've won.

LOL

I've gotten so much more of this crap lately.

Some time ago I went back and forth with a scammer on a kirby I listed on craigslist. I even told him I was was going to raise the price and told him I forgot to mention the vacuum doesn't work but he still wanted to deal.

I know this is probably not advisable but I wanted to test the limits and see how long the scammer was willing to correspond about a vaccum cleaner that got worse and worse every time we conversed

I've been getting a lot of those mails too Jason. I've won $1 million so far this week on two different lotteries (wish it was for real)

Spam, spam, and more spam. I'm afraid it is going to get worse before it gets better.

I'm not sure how or why, but I don't get much of this kind of thing at all....

I tend to keep one email just to sign up for things that I know might get me spam. I keep a seperate email for legitimate mail. Even with that strategy, an email only lasts about 3 years before I have to change it.

Is it that people out there just don't follow the anti-spamming laws or do some of us just not realize we're subscribing to all the stuff we are? I thought the penalties for spamming were pretty tough?

Ahh yes. You have to love these e-mails. I recently got one from Nigeria. Obviously it told some sob story about how they saved a pastor down there from a troubled gang, and they need help supporting him. The fact is, I don't understand wit how strict cybercrime is these days, that these people get away with this. Not to mention actually get people to fall for these scams! What is our world coming to?

Wish it was true,i too have got hundreds of mails like that and mostly the ones from african countries where someone wanted partnership with me to get their multi million dollars funds released which their deceased father had left before being murdered or something like that. One person known to be through a common friend was so stupid that he met one scamster personally and he was cheated with around $20000.But i did not feel sorry for him.People like them should understand that money is not so easy and the greed is prime motive for getting cheated with such scamsters.
