Royalty free music for new video [taken care of thanks!]
I was going to try and create a video for the forum, or have one made, and I wanted to use the theme from Cheers for the opening music.
You can hear the song playing while watching this video if you don't know what I am refering to:
Anyone know if it's possible to find and use portions of this theme in my videos?
I don't usually mess with this stuff, so if someone is willing to try to locate the royalty free music for me (not a video), I'd be willing to pay $20!
Thanks ...

Re: Paying $20 to anyone who can find this royalty free music for my new video
I just found out that I would most likely need to aquire a license to use this tune. And it could be very costly from what I understand.
So, in light of these findings, no one will get the $20. Sorry folks, but I want to be as legal as possible.

I read your first message and started looking before coming back to say that every place I saw that had it required a licensing fee. I was wondering what service/sites most people use to find good music for videos such as yours. Is there an istock of music?

Hey Amanda,
Can you post a link so I can see one of the licenses?
Btw, to answer your question, there are royalty free places where you can pay a certain price and use the music you download. Most of them are membership sites similar to istockphotos where you sign up for free to the membership and charge you money to buy credits to purchase. Just do a search in Google for something like "Royalty Free Music", and you should come across a few.

What I was looking at earlier was not what I thought it was :/ I did find the actual company that owns the song. You would probably have to contact them directly. I've attached their form.

Re: aroyalty free music for new video [taken care of thanks!]
I would like to thank you for your great effort but could you post a link where I can find list of license? I have to acquire a license to use your tune and I don't know what it will cost to me. Please help me and elaborate how I could get it?

Hey hiddentalent77,
This isn't my tune or Amanda's, this is what we were posting about, and Amanda found the right license for me.
You can either download the attachment aheismann left in her post for the synchronization license, then fill it o9ut and send it to the address at the bottom of the page after printing it out, or go here and get it right off the site:
Sony/ATV Music Publishing : Language Selection
Just be sure to get the right license.

Re: Royalty free music for new video [taken care of thanks!]
I also thought there was a rule/law that you can use any song for a certain amount of minutes/seconds without having to deal with royalties and licenses. Does anyone know about this? Or heard about this fact/fiction? I would think that if you are only using a sample and not selling it or making money off of its use, that it would not be a legal issue, but I may be making this too easy.

Hey Heath,
That depends really on the copyright notice of the material. In most circumstances if they have a current copyright on the material (song, lyrics, etc ...) you cannot copy it in any way. That would be copyright infringement, and you can get heavily fiined or sued.
