Creating your own products and selling them Vs. Selling someone else's products
One of the things new people who want to make money online are told is to start off with selling affiliate products. I think we as seasoned marketers do them a disservice when we tell them that.
Why?
Because new people do not learn how to truly be marketers, plus they miss out on major opportunities that people who create their own products do. Think about it for a minute.
When people promote affiliate products, and that is what they are doing when the sell someone else's products, the sales copy is already written up for them, the product is already created for them, most other materials are already done for them like the adverts and prewritten emails, and the only thing they have to do is get traffic to the prewrittwn sales page, and hope that someone buys the product.
Getting traffic to a site and hoping is not what I call marketing. Yes, getting traffic is a segment of marketing but that's all it is. There much more to marketing then getting traffic.Marketing is also about salesmanship, and with that comes how to sell.
My question to you is why bother with affiliate products if you are in business for yourself?
Now I'm not saying you can't make money online this way because many people make lots of money running affiliate products. It's just that why not go the distance and have so much more going for you?
For instance, if you create your own product, you learn marketing, branding, salesmanship, etc ... and building a name for yourself instead of helping someone else build their name. You can also use one product, and then add on other things where eventually you can have your own internet empire.
What do I mean by this? It's simple, if you create one product and say you add a subscription form at the time of purchase, and create a forum for the people who bought your product, you now have the product and revenue from the product itself, a list of buyers, plus a new community that will grow and flurish, and possibly bring in another income stream for you eventually.
And just think, if you create a second product that goes along with the first, or is at least similar in nature or subject, nine out of ten cases you will be able to sell the second product to this same group of people, get new buyers because you've built up a good name for yourself, and add them to the same community.
See where I'm going with this?
This is why it is so important to pre-plan everything, because when you are building your own business, you have to have all the pieces of the puzzle fitting into thier slots like a glove on a hand.
Yeah I know, some people will say, But it's so much easier to promote affiliate products and make money that way then it is to go that route. Then you have to write that stinken salesletter, and blah blah blah."
This fact may be true and come with less hassle, but why settle for peanuts when you can have a four course meal and live high on the hog at some point where people look up to you?
To me, making my own products and building my own internet empire will always win over help someone else build theirs.

Re: Creating your own products and selling them Vs. Selling someone else's products
Good question, let me say my experience we are graduates from nit Jalandhar from India started a company with a name Kollace education rennaisance private limited, promoting our own product by our marketers, the marketers are can’t be able to sustain with competitors , wherever we go they say, their have already got the product with xxx name
If you want to be successful either you should be the first one to start such product or sell the product which is already in the market .

I think it is alright to create your own product rather than market somethiing which has been manufactured by someone else, but initially to gain experience it is a must that you start off by selling someone else's products. It gives you the confidence that you will indeed be able to market anything you produce yourself. Once you have created a niche for yourself, it is easier to add yor own products to it.

Re: Creating your own products and selling them Vs. Selling someone else's products
Hi vazrakar and Mercuryman3a,
I can understand and appreciate where you both are coming from. And in many ways both of you are right.
But having said this, I also know that when new people start to network with other marketers, they build connections, and with these connections many things are made possible that weren't possible before. Every marketer has to build their network and or be a part of a network if they want to be successful these days.
Yes, it does pay to have a unique product or service to make a real impact on the market, but you still need outside people to help with many things, especially branding, traffic and sales. They can connect you with the right people.
I also think that Mercuryman is right in that selling other products can build confidence, but in the same breath, it teaches new people how to be a lone wolf. To get almost anywhere, meaning to make a lot more income, people have to run in a crowd or network.
I know I started out selling affiliate products at one point but never got past a certian point. The only way to hit the next level was to start building my own connections (network) and creating my own products.
To me, it's always better to have an army helping each other succeed then it is to go it alone and spin my wheels.
Good discussion guys, and thanks for the comments ...

Re: Creating your own products and selling them Vs. Selling someone else's products
I think that selling your own original products is the way to go. People can go anywhere and get mass-produced items; however, if you sell stuff you made yourself, then they can only go to you! I also think this is even more true today than in the recent past. There is a whole "home made" vibe out there today. People are sick of paying good money for cheap pieces of crud. They want something that is well made and going to last. That gives you a foot up too!
