Best Blogging Job Ever...
Now HERE's a blogging job...
Australia offers 'best job in world' on paradise island - Yahoo! News
The Australian government is going to put one blogger up in a beachfront mansion and give them $100,000+ for the six month period and all they have to do is blog about how wonderful life in Australia is. It's a promotional gig for the tourist board, but , what a job!

Where do I apply?
This morning it was -24F in North Dakota. I want to be where it's warm, even 0 degrees would feel warm. As sick as that sounds.

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
After having sub zero temperatures the past few days in Michigan, I would love to land this job. It sounds like it would be a blast. However, when you think about it, this is a great plan by the Australian government. This will really increase a desire to travel there.

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
It's a couple days after the initial post of this "job" (if you can call it that) and the Australian tourist board announced that they have been flooded with views. It's shut down their server (where have I heard that one before???) Anyway, it is a great promotion. Probably'll cost them $250,000 total and look at the viral nature of the publicity. It's worth a lot more than a quarter of a million would get them in a traditional ad buy.

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
I noticed within a day after the 'Job lead' hit yahoo the influx of applicants crashed the website. It will be interesting to see what happens with it, if I thought I would have half a chance of landing that job, I would have been one of those seeker in there bringing the application process to a screeching halt. I will certainly look for updates.

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
I saw a news story on this on msnbc.com! I would love to get this job but I have a feeling that I just don't look quite good enough in a bathing suit to get it. They say looks aren't as important as charisma and being photogenic but a bad bathing suit picture is a bad bathing suit picture

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
I can’t tell - is this too good to be true? Seems like it! Also interesting that they’re willing to have a non-Australian and (as they put it in the article) an “unknown person become an unofficial tourism spokesperson for the state.” I am trying to imagine having someone from another country fly in to the US and blog about their experiences in New York or something!

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
Wow, what a job that would be! I am with mixedmedia, is it for real? I can truly see the business benefit to Australia to pay someone to do this. But do you think the job would really be open to the public? Wouldn't someone in high place's friend or relative get the job? Maybe, though, it is all part of getting some good publicity for Australia. Goes to show you some jobs are better than others

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
Yes that sounds astonishing, really what a job.I wish i could also land up with something similar. However,i can only sulk at people doing lesser intelligent things being paid exorbitant packages. The internet has provided a great opportunity to excel even for people with very less knowledge when compared to others.I still cant figure out how can a 15 year old guy earns more by blogging than a Harvard professor.

Re: Best Blogging Job Ever...
The loneliness would get to me. I think this is an idea that looks great on the outside, but what if you want like a wife or children? Living on an island that's not going to really happen.

Well, it is only 6 months and not a life time commitment. And I didn't get the idea that it was a small, isolated island. I'd have to read it again, but I was thinking it was more of a luxury neighborhood, and you would be traveling all over Australia and blogging about it.
And there would be press conferences, and media galore... Sounds too me like you wouldn't have enough privacy.
