Default Getting The Most Out Of Every Dollar

One of the biggest problems that marketers face is getting the most out of every dollar we spend. Many times, we'll just take the first solution that comes along simply because we feel that we don't have the time to investigate alternatives.

A perfect example of this is web hosting.

How many people will go with Hostgator or GoDaddy or whoever, simply because their friends go with them or they "heard" that they're the best option? Have they really investigated alternatives?

While web hosting is certainly cheaper than it was years ago, there can still be big price differences between two services and the actual service that they offer. One site can be $19.95 a month and be half the price of another at $37, but when you compare the disk space and bandwidth that you get for each, the actual cost difference is negligible for what you are getting.

For example, one service charges $19.95 a month and gives you 1000 meg of disk space to go with a gig of bandwidth. Another service is $37 a month but they offer 10,000 meg of disk space and 10 gig of bandwidth. Clearly, the second service is the better buy IF you need that much space and bandwidth.

If you add up all the things that we pay for online, hosting, advertising, membership sites, software and so on, the money that we could save by doing a little comparison shopping could turn into hundreds of dollars a month.

It may take a little time to find the best deals, but doing so could very well be worth it...especially if your expenses are into 4 figures a month.

A while back, Travis Sago did a promotion of the ebook 5 Bucks a day where anyone who bought through his link would get a series of 5 buck projects for 8 weeks.

5 Bucks a Day is premised on the thought that every week you should do one project that will make you a consistent $5/day income rather than taking "grand leaps" to generate "millions of dollars." In time, your $5 projects will add up to significant money.

Travis sent out 8 $5 projects to the people who bought the book through his link. I don't remember most of them, but one really stood out. That week, he suggested that we make a list of the things we spent $5 a day on and cut them out. That's because saving $5 is as good as making $5.

Steven, your post reminded me of this advice.

Getting the most for your money is a lot easier when you have others in your "circle" or network of people to get info on products you're considering buying.

I know I have a lot more confidence in buying a product when I have the trusted opinion of others in my network to bounce ideas of off. So I think it's important for new people to internet marketing to make a constant effort to find others they trust and have some experience. This is important for your success and will shorten your learning curve, not to mention possibly save you some bucks.

Hey Stacy, could you post or send a link about the $5 a day story you are refering too? It seems like a really good tip and I'd like to read more about it. Unfortunately I tend to get spurts of extracurricular economic activity and don't stay consistent day in day out.

Yes this aspect is generally overlooked when people go for getting their site hosted, and after a few months when they become aware of the terms with they are tied by the hosting company, regret and want to go elsewhere.People should do their homework well before deciding and selecting a hosting company, which apart from providing great services also offers the most competetive rates.
