I've just begun visiting blogs and squidoo lenses that rank high in Google for my niche and posting comments to get some backlinks to MY blog.

First I tried Squidoo lenses, and then I moved on the Blogger blogs. I noticed a trend and wanted to see if anyone else had noticed this.

Every lens that I posted a comment to gave me a message stating something to the effect of "your comment will appear after it's been approved."

However, I went back today, two days later, and I didn't see one of my comments posted on ANY of the lenses I posted to.

BUT, when I go to the Blogger blogs, each and every one of my comments was posted right then, in real time.

Anyone ever able to get a comment/link actually posted to a Squidoo lens?

Hi Randi,

Yeah, I've had some comments on Squido lenses no show up. The thing there is that each lens owner (user) sets their lens up differently. Most have been setting their's up to approve comments instead of letting people post freely. That's due to all the spamminf attacks.

There is one of two things going on if they have the approval of comments set up before they show.

1) either they did not like your comment

2) Or the user hasn't been back to check their lens.

I'd say it's that latter because a ton of lenses get built, and then the user never does anything else to them. They just let them roll with the punches.

I always check lenses first for about a week before I post comments to them. If they show signs of movement (updating), then I comment on them. My comments are usually approved in a day or so.

I also have had similar experiences in the past and then left the blog business for quite some time as was not getting enough traffic to my blogs.I also never got a single comment/link posted to a squidoo lens.Used to wonder why it happens like that and got fed up of all this.Hopefully you get a solution very soon.

I have a dozen or so Squidoo lenses and I approve comments on them all the time, so I know some people get links.

When you create a squidoo lens, the lens owner can set it up for comments to be moderated or not. Same as can be done on Blogger. Squidoo also gives you the option of allowing/disallowing HTML in comments.

Okay, this is somewhat embarrassing to say but, I'm close to being a giant squid (50+ lenses), but mostly I set 'em and forget em. Most do not have the option for comments, but if any of them do, I've never approved them.

While I know there are some people who put up Lenses because the lens itself makes them money or just because they have something they want to tell the world, most of us set them up to direct traffic to our own sites.

I do lenses because they give me high pr backlinks and traffic to my money sites. I don't care about you. (Don't take it personally )

If you want to get backlinks from lenses, blogs, etc. you've got to look for places where the site's owner wants to build community. If that's not there, the chances are that your comments aren't high on their radar.
