Default High Speed Internet in the country?

Hey everyone,

Got a dumb question and I'm not sure this post belongs here but... Can you get high speed internet in the country?

We're looking at a property 12 miles out of Fargo and I just thought about internet service in the country

Anybody have any info or know where I can find some?

Dial up now days is pretty much out of the question and I'm not to excited about paying a ton for internet access.

Now I'm concerned

JB

Hi Jason,

Well isn't Fargo part of the US? If so, you should be able to get high speed internet.

Or did you mean to say something else?

I would say that any cable company has high speed. And yes, it's expensive. Other than that, I dodn't know where you can get access any cheaper.

Lol they are like phone companies (cell phones included), they keep raising the prises for basic needs.

I think it all depends on the area. Check with your local cable company and see what they offer for that area. Or check with the phone company about DSL.

Mary, I believe he meant the countryside. Like a very rural, secluded area.

In that case, yes, there is high speed internet available in the country. A lot of my family lives on the country side, in very rural, secluded areas. Most of the time, you can find great deal with Road Runner, Time Warner Cable (if available) and Comcast. You may even be able to settle with Verizon Fios.

All four providers are great.

Lol JB,

I knew what you meant. Was just trying to get you to come out of your hole you've been in lately.

Seriously, I am in one of the most rural places there are in these parts. This is one of the reasons I had to wait so long to get access at the house here.

Most places can have access. The problem is that when you ask a cable company about getting cable and internet access in some of these rural places over the phone, they will tell you no, it's not doable. The best way to find out for sure is ask (whoever you have on the phone at the time) them to send out a technician so they can see first hand.

This is what we did while living in the last two places. Usually they can get the job done. It may cost you something to get the main cable in, but it is doable.

Btw, I know when we asked Time Warner to come set up our cable and internet here, they were going to charge us until we told them we were trying to move from Dish to cable. For some reason, they dropped the set up fee - it was going to be around 1K to get the pole up, and the cable run.

Go figure right?

Big HINT - Try doing the same, and watch how fast people move.

For your info, everyone calls me the hillbilly cause I live in rural areas, so don't feel too bad about it.

Hey Tom,

Lol yeah, the country side is great isn't it?

Btw, I have TWC too.

The countryside is beautiful, but if you're not self-sufficient it can be quite boring.

We use Verizon Fios!
