Default Firefox 3.5 released

Firefox 3.5 was released a few days ago. Feedback that I have heard so far is extremely positive.

Here is the link to the download page: Firefox Browser | Upgrade to the latest version of Firefox | Free Download

Who here has upgraded and what is your opinion of the new version? If you haven't upgraded, then please tell us why not.

Personally I haven't upgraded yet. I would really like to, but it looks like one of my favorite addons (Snap Links :: Add-ons for Firefox) isn't supported in the new version. So I am waiting for Snap Links to get updated, unless I can find a different version of it that will work. Or maybe I will decided to upgrade even without Snap Links... But for now, I'm sticking with 3.0.11.

Hey Buff,

Thanks for the update. I haven't upgraded yet but I'll probably look into it shortly. I still can't believe I went so long only using IE and not FF. I'm a little slow, what can I say?

I haven't gotten into to many of the FF add-on's although I know there's a ton of them. What does the add-on you're talking about do Buff?

It allows you to highlight several links on a page and open them all in new tabs with just one click! Very useful for catching up on long list of forum threads!

From the official description:

Quote:
The main goal of the extension is to allow easy and fast opening of multiple results presented by search engines (but it should work on any site).

Snap Links is similar to other extensions that open multiple links yet it works in a different way from most of them. The most important differences are:
- The user selects the links by drawing a rectangle (instead of highlighting the text or moving the mouse precisely over the links)
- Only the main links are selected by default
- Requires only one click
- There is visual aid to show which links are currently selected
- The extension attempts to be simple, fast and intuitive

Snap Links can even be useful for (lazy) users to open single links. These way the users won't have to pinpoint by clicking on the link, instead they may just clumsily drag the mouse over the link while pressing the right mouse button.

The user selects the links by dragging the right mouse button. By default the main (bigger) links are the only ones selected. The user may move the selection area by holding the Alt key while moving the mouse. Pressing the Shift key will select all links that intersect the selection area instead of just the main links. The Escape key will cancel the selection area.

Snap Links allows users to select the default action on the options window (open links in new tabs, in new windows, in new tabs on a new window, bookmark, download or copy links to clipboard). Holding Ctrl while releasing the mouse button will allow users to override the default action.

Tom,

What do you like about Chrome? I've never used it. I'm just curious, I'm a fan of Google, and a share holder. So I'd like to see Google succeed long term. Know what I mean?

I know what ya mean!

Google Chrome's excellent. I like the fact that you can have you're history saved in thumbnails (only the most 9 visited sites).

I also like the compatibility it has with Google Mail and other Google powered products.

In addition, it saves recently closed browsers. This way, if you recently closed the Google Chrome Browser, it would save the last 3.

When opening a new tab, it shows the 9 most visited websites with a thumbnail, shows the bookmarks in a side bar and a search box to search the history.

It's quite nice, I think!

Both IE8 and FF3.5 do that too. I am going to give Chrome a try soon...

IE8 doesn't do that, and I did not know that Firefox 3.5 did that.

Firefox 3.6 released..
So you can upgrade your browser again.. I've upgraded it just now
You can download it , it is just 7.94 MB ..

It is more improved version than firefox 3.5
As soon as I installed it,I noticed that the new tab is getting opened just on the side of the parent tab(similar to google chrome).

this could be the indication of copy the best feature from the competitors browsers

Press "ctrl+t" to open new tab
Also, you can double click on the empty space beside the tab
If you want to open a new tab through a website or open a link in another page then right click on the hyperlink & open in new tab is one way..
Another way is, press ctrl and click on the hyperlink

hope it was useful
