Hi JB,
I have a couple of questions to ask before trying to help so I know what to tell you to do.
First off, when was the last time you cleared out your cache?
2) When was the last time you deleted your temporary internet files from your internet options?
3) What virus scanner are you using? Were you running the scanner while doing other things on your computer?
4) A virus scanner will not pick up on spyware, so does your antivirus software have a spyware scanner as well? If so, did you run it too?
5) When did you first notice your PC getting slower ... like as in drastically slower? And did you install anything since you noticed it slowing down?
Believe it or not these are common things that will determine what's up with your PC.
Let me know asap before you login anywhere just incase you have spyware on your PC.
Also, delete your temporary internet files and cookies. If you use IE, go to the "Tools" button -- go down to "internet options" --- look for the "General tab" (up at the top --- You should see a sundial looking icon. Above it slightly, you will see "Browser history" printed. --- click on "View Files" ---- Highlight them all by clicking "Sellect all", then click the delete button using your right mouse click.
If you have a ton of files and cookies, it will take a minute or two for them to delete. If you should see a window pop up asking if you want "cookies" deleted too, click yes.
You can also Google for how to clear your cache, then clear it.
After you are done with that, defrag your PC if you haven't done that in a long time.
Empty your recycle bin too if you haven't checked it laterly.
This type of stuff is weekly or by-weekly mantainence - or should be as much as you use your PC.
Okay, don't forget to let me know the answers to those questions I asked first.
Let's hope we can help.
Btw, you might want get an external drive to put all your PDFs, software you are not using, and other stuff like pictures or graphics. They only cost about $100 or so, and is well worth the investment. Just don't forget to get one that is compatible with your operating system. I use Lace for 2 of mine, and a WD (can't remember what the company name is at the moment but they are very simple to set up and use right out of the box with windows XP - not sure about Vista though).
Sounds like you may have to clear your HD on your PC, particularly your desktop if you have a ton of folders and files.
One more thing, Iknow that when Iwas on YuoTube today, it took me like 3 hrs to sign in, and upload that video. I had to delete it several times because it would time out eventually, so your problem with YT could be a seperate issue.
