Twitter is a spam fest in my opinion ... I agree with you people should find other means of promotion. I am actually testing a bunch of social media sites to see the effect it has because personally I do not think google has 80% as has been stated to the public..
I been playing with some of these sites, I have a huge list..

It is far to early to tell the true effectiveness of them but multiply has helped increase my rankings.
