Are You Using A Call To Action

Are You Using A Call To Action

For the longest time people have been trying to make money online but most can’t and they just don’t know why. The reason – they are not using a call to action.

Look at the two examples below, which one would you most likely click on?

“If you want to make money online, then you have to start now. So many people are learning more than they ever expected just by taking my FREE course.”

This has a rather laid back approach, which works but it doesn’t have a very high click through rate.

“Are you tired of not making any money online? Do you want to learn how to make money online without paying anything upfront? Don’t worry, I am offering a FREE course for anybody that wants to learn and all you have to do is click here to be sent to my site.”

Now, the second example has a little better wording but the main thing people see is the “Click here”. Don’t think that just because you add something that says click here that people will always do it but the odds are much higher because you are asking them to do something.

When you use a call to action it really increases the effectiveness of your writing. Not only that but with a call to action you can easily point somebody to an affiliate product, to another website or possibly just back to your own.

Things To Know About Call To Actions

They Don’t Need To Be Long

The first thing that you need to know about a call to action is that it doesn’t have to be long. A lot of people think that a call to action is a paragraph when in actuality it is just a sentence of two. All I would recommend is to come up with a clear call to action and then compliment it with a sentence in the front and possibly one at the end. If you do this you will see that what you want your readers to do will come a lot easier for you from now on.

Need T o Be Clear

Are you clear with what you want your readers to do? Do you tell them exactly what should happen? Are you asking questions and then giving your readers a reason to answer those questions? If you are not clear with what you want, then a call to action is just more words with no meaning. Trust me, being clear is extremely important and if you want the call to action to do what it is supposed to do then you will be as clear as you can be.

Give A Reason

A call to action is great but at the same time you have to give a reason for somebody to take action. Just because I ask you to click on a link doesn’t mean you will, however, if I asked you to click on a link to be entered in a drawing for a FREE Ipad, then I am sure you would do it, right? Just make sure you give the reader a reason to take action on your call to action because without this you won’t get a very good response.

Make Them Stand Out

Does your call to action stand out? Are you using bold lettering or a picture as your call to action? Whatever you are doing doesn’t matter, what matters is that people see the call to action and do something about it. All you can do is get the call to action out there, after that it is all up to the reader to decide whether they follow through or move on.

A call to action is not something that takes a lot of time but sometimes it is best that you go back through your writing and make sure that you put in a few call to actions throughout it. Trust me, if you put a few call to actions throughout the article then you will probably get more Tweets, comments, Likes and even sales from affiliate products.

My last piece of advice for you is to just practice writing a call to action. Something that I have found that works quite well is to come up with 2 or 3 general call to actions that you can use in almost any situation. Ok, one last thing – Please post a comment below to say what your favorite call to action is.

  1. I bet a lot of business website owners have scrambled to make “call to action” adjustments after reading this article! Great job Warren! It can be frustrating to find a really “good” website and then discover that it lacks the call to action feature. I am a freelance writer and blogger and a lot of my clients’ sites have effective call to action features that follow most of the tips you stated here. Do you have any “call to action” true stories you mat want to share with us? How about in websites of non-profit organizations? How can they maximize this feature?
