Feedburner Stats Fix

feedburner zero

Many of you woke up this morning to a sad little Feedburner count of zero. Some of the more popular sites I’ve visited that seem to be affected are:

www.tylercruz.com – Tyler’s site

www.chrisg.com Chris Garrett from right here in Calgary

www.johncow.com – Jason Katzenback

www.problogger.net – Darren Rowse

www.plrinternetmarketing.com (mine as well)

Now I’m sure there are tons more, these are just the ones I’ve seen as of 7:30 am here. I’ve done a search looking for answers and so far it looks like Google is keeping everyone in the dark as far as reason and fix.

I have however noticed I can fix the count in Feedburner itself by switching to the new Beta version. Simply log in and hit the “Try the new beta version” tab at the top right hand side of the screen and you’ll have an accurate count once more.

I have noticed that it didn’t update the website chicklet so you may have to wait for it to refresh, or perhaps the new setup will need to be updated from Feedburner’s end.

In the mean time I’ve reprogrammed mine to say “Broken via feed” instead of “reader’s via feed” Slightly more apt at the moment!

*Note

I know some of you will be interested to know how I changed the text so here you go:

To switch out the text locate your Feedburner chicklet info which should look something like this.

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/PlrInternetMarketing?bg=000000&fg=00CCFF&anim=1&

Add the following afterward and include your own text. label=yourtxt

So you’ll end up with something like this:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/~fc/PlrInternetMarketing?bg=000000&fg=00CCFF&anim=1&labla=Broken

When I figure out how to get the chicklet to update to the current subscriber count I’ll update this post for you guys who have also been affected. At least now you’ll have some peace of mind knowing that they haven’t simply been deleted or lost forever!

Update: Several hours later, and my feedburner chicklet has adjusted back to the proper count!
