10 Tips for Printing Invoices for Ecommerce Customers

Invoices
Author: James Adams

An invoicing system is a necessity for any successful business. Invoices allow businesses to inform clients about how much they must pay and the work completed for them. This makes it one of the most fundamental aspects about running a business. Without sending a bill or an invoice, companies would have to wait an extremely long time to get paid, if they ever got paid at all. By following some basic guidelines, any business can create a successful and unique invoice that will grab the attention of customers.

(1.) – Include All Contact Information

Customers should be able to find all the sellers contact information on the invoice. This will allow them to contact the seller if they have questions or problems, and it will also allow them to know who to contact if they have any future work. The company’s name, address, email, and phone number should all be included. Additionally, the contact information for the client should also be listed.

(2.) – Create an Invoice Number

Invoice numbers help to keep company records organised and in order. If a customer has multiple orders, invoice numbers will help to tell them apart. Many computer systems will also allow companies to sort orders and files by the invoice number. This will make the record extremely easy to find when necessary.

(3.) – Include an Itemised Cost Breakdown

This list indicates exactly what the customer is charged for, and it should specify the cost of each item. This section should also have room for detailed descriptions of each task. If the person is charging a flat fee, an item may look like this:

  • Full colour logo and design: $750.00

If the customer was charged by the hour, then the item may look more like this:

  • Full colour logo and design ($75.00/hour): 10 hours X $75.00 = $750.00

This itemised list will help the customer to know exactly what they are being charged for, and it will eliminate discussions about how the seller determined the total.

(4.) – Use an Invoice Template

This will help the company to create an invoice that contains all the necessary information. Invoice templates allow entrepreneurs to design an invoice that is unique to them and their business. There are some templates available in programs like Adobe that can be edited to fit the needs of any business or organisation. The invoice is one of the last forms of contact with a client, so a creative, clear invoice will leave the customer with a lasting impression of the company.

(5.) – Outline the Terms

Companies should include their terms in the invoice. They need to include a time frame for when payment is expected. If there are any repercussions for failure to pay on time, those terms should be listed. It is crucial to outline these terms so if the company needs to send past-due notices or charge interest there is proof that the terms were explained to the customer.

(6.) – Describe the Payment Options

When customers look at a bill, they often search for information on payment. The invoice should outline what payment options are available, including the types of credit or debit cards accepted. If the company’s bank charges them for any special type of payment, the company should make sure that the customer knows if they will need to cover those charges.

(7.) – Include Conversions

Some Internet business may allow or require a company to do business with customers in another country. When an invoice is sent, the client may not entirely understand how much they are being charged if the amount is in U.S. dollars. To reduce confusion, the company can use a reputable online conversion calculator to determine the cost to the client’s native currency as exemplified below:

  • Full colour logo and design: $750.00 (5,155.44 SEK)

This example shows the amount the client owes in U.S. dollars and in the Swedish Kronor.

(8.) – Include the Bottom Line

The first thing that most people do when they receive an invoice is look for the total amount that they owe. The services listed in the itemised breakdown should be added, and the total amount owed should be stated at the bottom of the invoice. This will ensure that the customer sees it.

(9.) – Try an Invoicing Application

If customers need more assistance with the process of creating an invoice, there are some computer based applications that can assist them. Programs such as Billing Manager, PayPal, FreshBooks, Blink Sale, and Less Accounting provide basic software that will generate invoices for a company with ease.

(10.) – Say Thanks

The invoice should also thank the company’s customer for their business. This will end the interaction on a positive note, and it may bring the client back for future business.

In summary, implementing the recommendations listed above will help to elevate a company’s presentation of its invoices. Clear invoices are invoices that will be paid more quickly.

Your Internet Marketing Education

Secret Classroom

Part of living the dot com lifestyle is continually striving to improve both ourselves, and our online properties.  Most people just wander around from site to site, trying to find the information that will help take them from aspiring entrepreneurs to profitable ones. I’m going to share one of the secrets that personally helped me to make money online.

Take a class!

I’m going to share with you a video membership site that has been around for a while, but that most people still haven’t had the privilege of sitting in on. Maybe it’s because it’s the Secret Classroom.

Who would you rather take advice from? Someone who has made a few dollars online, or someone who has made millions online? Chances are you picked the millionaire, not because he’s a millionaire, but because he was able to take certain methods and apply them to become an online millionaire.

Now the information I’m going to share with you isn’t free, the videos cost $47 US, but don’t worry, they come with a full 60 day money back guarantee, and I’ll tell you that after watching just one of the video’s I already felt I had my money’s worth!

Here is a website that has not one, but twelve internet millionaires who share their secrets and tricks of the trade when it comes to internet marketing, and the areas surrounding our industry. These are people you most likely have already heard of, and this is probably the only time you will ever get to hear them all speak at the same time!

I’m talking people like:

Mark Joyner
Armand Morin
Jeff Walker
Marlon Sandors
Mike Koenigs
Brad Fallon
Kris Jones
Mike Filsaime
Ray Edwards
Dave Taylor

Now these are all big names in the internet marketing world, and each of them has mastered one thing very well…. Making money online!

Now is your chance to listen to what they have to say on the matter, and I suggest you pay close attention because some of the information in these video’s has helped me grow my own income online, and I guarantee you it’s not only possible, but fun as well! If you’ve ever gotten those emails from PayPal “Notification of Payment Received” then you already know what I’m talking about. Waking up to these every day is much better than waking up at 6 am, driving through traffic to get to work where you’ll spend the next eight hours making someone else money, and picking up a check at the end of every eighty hours that is nowhere near what you actually are worth!

Listen closely while these guys speak for up to two hours each on their own area of expertise on the different aspects of internet marketing topics, and share some very valuable insider secrets that will help you with your own online business. They’ll break it down and show you how you can replicate there success, and make it your own.

These techniques and strategies are NOT limited to people who have a certain amount of money to invest, or to those who have pre-existing business relationships, or to people with super high intelligence, so go into this knowing that these are ideas that you too can implement and turn into successes for your business as well.

If you are looking for an education that you won’t find anywhere else, then I highly recommend that you stop in and take a look, and listen to what these twelve individuals have to say.

Four More Tips to a Better Blog

Blog Tips

Blogging is rewarding in so many ways, and for those of us who dedicate the time to researching, writing, and publishing our best works it is something we would likely call a passion. And it is for this reason that we continually strive to improve our blogs, by adding more content, more features, and perpetually striving to drive ever more traffic to it, in order that we might showcase our thoughts for the world to see.

I’m going to share a few of the blog improvement tips that I’ve implemented in order to make it more productive and even more profitable for me.

Tip #1:
Develop a blog post checklist, and use it prior to publishing each and every post. A basic step that many people overlook is to read it after you’ve written it. Often times you’ll find mistakes in prose that you didn’t notice while putting it together the first time. Spell check it, prior to publishing it, good grammar, and spelling go a long way to lending itself toward professionalism. Spend more than a minute on the title, often this is the most important aspect of a post. Double check your links if you’ve included any, and remember to give credit if you’ve used information from another website or source. If you are including an image, try to pick an attractive and clear image that lends itself to the overall picture of the post. I recommend you implement your very own checklist made up of key areas that are important to you.

Tip #2:
Make it easy for people to reach out to you, and you can do this by making sure you have a strong presence on Facebook, Twitter, include either an email for them to reach you, or a contact form so that you can stay in touch with your audience. Another great tool that you have at your disposal for communicating with your readers, is the comments section after each post, make sure you are utilizing it to the best of your ability and making the most of the plugins that assist with this process. Two plugins that I would recommend are:

1.       Subscribe to comments which allow your readers to check so that if they ask a question or are just interested in the topic being discussed they can receive an email whenever a new comment is left on that particular blog post.

2.       Top commentator plugin is a great way to reward your readers for leaving those valuable comments behind, you can set it to reset at a given time frame.  It simply calculates the number of comments each reader leaves, and then you can give the top five (or however many you choose) a nice backlink to their site.

Tip #3:
Now this tip could have been included in the previous one since it is a form of communication, but it is so much more, and I felt it deserved its own tip #!  Email Marketing! Now whether or not you plan to ever sell a single item or make a single cent from your blog, you should still not be ignoring this one. By offering your readers something of value in exchange for their email address, you are able to reach out to them, and contact them at will. There is no better way of driving additional traffic to a new section of your site, or even just to your new blog posts this week. If you mail out to 50,000+ people this week telling them about your weeks blog posts how much more traffic do you think you will receive this week from that source alone? I get about a 20 – 30 % open rate on my blog posts that get emailed out to my subscribers each week (or after they reach a total of 7 new posts). With 50,000 subscribers that works out to anywhere from 1429 people a day to 2143 people a day of people who might not have stopped by for a visit to your site that week. Many of you may not even be getting 1500 – 2000 people a day, so you can see that by spending the time to develop this area, you will certainly see results in the long run.

Tip #4
Take the time to fix and repair any damaged areas of your blog, just as you would your home. If a light bulb burns out, you fix it; likewise if a link gets broken, fix it. Spend some time each week doing maintenance on your blog, here is a quick checklist for you.

-          No CSS errors

-          No Html errors, I use http://validator.w3.org/ to check these two areas.

-          Check your site for broken links and update. Also make sure to check on your affiliate links, or banners that you have installed to make sure each site you are linking too hasn’t gone offline for some reason.

-          Make use of Google’s Webmaster Tools to verify that your sitemap is working correctly, and there are no crawl errors, if there are fix them. (These affect your traffic from Google quite drastically, if you notice a sudden drop in traffic I suggest you take a look here).

-          Make sure you’ve added alt tags to all of your images, and that they are optimized.

-          Now is also a great time to make your to do list for the coming week ahead and list out any modifications you’d like to implement, plugins you’d like to try, or any other tweaks that you feel might benefit your blog in some way.

Building your blog is an ongoing process that you will be undertaking for many years to come, and over time you will grow and evolve your own skills and tactics as well, and those changes will be reflected in the works that you publish, the overall theme that you end up going with, and the site that is known as your blog!

Career Certification Training For SQL Server – Some Thoughts

certification training

What might someone looking for Microsoft certified training expect to come across? Obviously, training organizations ought to have a variety of routes that match the needs of Microsoft certified training tracks.

You might also hope to talk in detail on the sort of careers to be had once you have passed your exams, and which personalities such positions could suit. Lots of people feel happier if they can be advised on what would be best for them.

Courses must be customized to suit your current level of knowledge and ability. Therefore, having worked out the most appropriate area of work for you, your next focus is the appropriate training program to get you there.

Sometimes men and women are under the impression that the school and FE college system is still the best way into IT. Why then are commercially accredited qualifications beginning to overtake it?

As demand increases for knowledge about more and more complex technology, industry has been required to move to the specialized core-skills learning that can only come from the vendors – in other words companies such as Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe. This usually turns out to involve less time and financial outlay.

Patently, a necessary degree of background detail has to be taught, but core specifics in the areas needed gives a vendor educated student a huge edge.

Just like the advert used to say: ‘It does what it says on the tin’. Employers simply need to know what they’re looking for, and then advertise for someone with the specific certification. Then they’re assured that a potential employee can do exactly what’s required.

So many training providers are all about the certification, and avoid focusing on what you actually need – which is a commercial career or job. You should always begin with where you want to get to – too many people focus on the journey.

Don’t be part of that group who set off on a track which looks like it could be fun – only to end up with a qualification for an unrewarding career path.

Make sure you investigate what your attitude is towards career development, earning potential, and whether you intend to be quite ambitious. It makes sense to understand what (if any) sacrifices you’ll need to make for a particular role, which certifications will be required and where you’ll pick-up experience from.

Chat with an industry professional that has a background in the industry you’re considering, and is able to give you an in-depth explanation of what tasks are going to make up a typical day for you. Contemplating this long before commencement of any training program has obvious benefits.

Discovering job security nowadays is very unusual. Companies can throw us out of the workforce at a moment’s notice – as long as it fits their needs.

Security only exists now in a rapidly escalating marketplace, fuelled by a shortage of trained workers. It’s this shortage that creates the correct environment for a secure market – definitely a more pleasing situation.

Reviewing the computing sector, the recent e-Skills study highlighted a twenty six percent deficit in trained staff. To put it another way, this means that the United Kingdom can only find 3 certified professionals for every 4 jobs available currently.

This one truth alone is the backbone of why the country needs so many more people to get into the IT sector.

As the Information Technology market is growing at such a quick pace, there really isn’t any other sector worth considering for retraining.

Many trainers provide a shelf full of reference manuals. Learning like this is dull and repetitive and not ideal for taking things in.

Research over recent years has consistently shown that an ‘involved’ approach to study, where we utilize all our senses, is proven to produce longer-lasting and deeper memory retention.

Study programs now come in the form of CD and DVD ROM’s, where everything is taught on your PC. Utilizing the latest video technology, you will be able to see the instructor presenting exactly how something is done, and then practice yourself – via the interactive virtual labs.

You really need to look at some example materials from each company you’re contemplating. They have to utilize instructor-led video demonstrations with virtual practice-labs.

It doesn’t make sense to select online only courseware. Due to the variable nature of connection quality from your average broadband company, make sure you get physical media such as CD or DVD ROM’s

The Importance of Powerful Anti-Virus

NOD32 - Save 25% - Download Now

The internet is growing at an amazing rate, and with the number of active internet users (many who are connected 24/7 via high speed modems) growing daily so do the number of malicious programs like Trojan horses, key loggers, and virus programs. It’s important to secure your computer with a high quality anti-virus program in order to not fall victim to one of these malicious hackers.

I make my living online, as an internet marketer and up till recently I got by using some free versions of anti-virus programs that are available online for us to use. It wasn’t until I was infected and unable to clean up the virus’s that I realized how vulnerable I really was. It’s a scary feeling when you aren’t the only one logging into your PayPal account, or your bank account.

If you spend a lot of time online, and spend your time with internet marketing, or affiliate marketing, accepting payments, then you owe it to yourself to invest in a solid security system for your data.

I went through eight different anti-virus programs trying to locate and eradicate the malicious programs that were installing themselves onto my computer, and sending out my sensitive data. (Passwords and login information) Of the eight programs only two were even able to tell that I had a virus, and none were able to successfully remove it for me.

I bought four high end anti-virus programs that have great reputations and are household names, only to return them hours later when they were unable to remove the Trojans and virus’s that I had. I then did some research, and found a company that I hadn’t heard much about, but its customers couldn’t say enough about them, and that company was Eset and their product was the Nod32 Anti-Virus.

I went and picked up a copy to give it a shot, and not only was it able to locate all of the nasty software I was carrying around on my laptop, but it was able to eradicate it as well.  I immediately went out and bought two more copies for my other computers, and am now one of those customers who just can’t say enough about this company and their awesome product.

I’ve been running with it for two months now, and I feel much more secure in the knowledge that my passwords, login details and files on my computer are safe and in good hands.

If you are reading this article because you are currently infected and looking for a solution then I highly recommend you pick up a copy, and get it installed as soon as possible. If you are researching your next anti-virus program, then let me save you the trouble, I tried eight different programs and none were able to get rid of these new viruses for me, and only two were even able to tell me that I was infected.

Blog Improvement Project

blog improvements

I was brainstorming some ideas on ways that I might improve my blog here at PLR Internet Marketing, and came up with an idea that I’d like to implement in the New Year. I’ve been in the habit of setting goals personally at home here, and thought it might be fun to post publicly a new list of goals regarding my PLR Internet Marketing blog for the entire world to see and hold me accountable to.

If I set a goal of guest posting 4 times in the current month, then you can be darn sure I’m going to be much more aware of that fact since thousands of people will have seen me set the goal out at the beginning of the month, and I’m going to look pretty foolish (or lazy) if I don’t come anywhere close. It’s also going to be a great way for me to keep improving the site on a consistent basis for you the reader which is my ultimate goal anyway.

By setting ten or twelve goals each month, by the end of 2011 I should see some very nice improvements, tweaks, and additions to the site.

I realize that it’s already the 19th, but I’m going to try setting a few goals here for December to get this Project rolling.

Blog Improvement Goals
Dec 2010

1.       Fix podcast feed and submit it to the ITunes directory. (yeah, it’s broken)

2.       Join MyBlogLog (can you believe I’m not a member? Joining tonight so I can cross this one off, please feel free to add me http://www.mybloglog.com/buzz/members/plrinternetmarketing/ as well as offer me any advice you might have regarding being a member there.

3.       Write 3 guest posts for a high traffic blog in my niche.

4.       Have 8 chapters completed in my new EBook “Blog Traffic Tactics” by months end. (will be approx. 20 – 24 chapters in total

5.       Convert 25 posts into podcasts (currently in the process of converting all 345 posts into podcasts and am only about 15% complete at this time)

6.       Add a quick start page for new internet marketers http://www.plrinternetmarketing.com/services/quick-start/

7.       Add 53 more fans to our Facebook Fan page by months end to make 5700 Fans! (thanks to all who have already joined)

8.       Choose 20 – 25 blogs to start commenting on regularly (If you are in a similar or complementing niche and have an Alexa below 80,000 and would like to be considered feel free to leave me a comment so I can head over and check out your blog. I’ll post the results of these goals at the end of Dec ember as well as a list of the blogs I’ve chosen.

9.       Read one new internet marketing book. (I’m continually striving to further my knowledge on all aspects of my industry in order that I might bring you the most relevant and up to date information I possibly can here on my blog.

10.   Record and post a 2 minute introduction video so that you the reader can see just who it is writing and recording all this stuff here at PLR Internet Marketing!

And that gives me ten goals to work toward by the end of the month in order to better both my blog, and myself in different ways. I will keep you updated as to my progress in the comments section below, so if you’re curious, then please stop by and check for updates, offer me any words of advice or encouragement, or just keep me accountable.

Social Media Marketing Plans

Social Media Marketing Plan

We are  about to roll over into the year 2011, and I’m sure by now most of the older marketers and online business owners have most likely implemented some sort of social media marketing plan by now so that they can connect with their audience and react in real time to situations that may arise in the online realm. For those who have not yet started, or perhaps are new to starting an online business or are currently in the process of launching their new business, this is the perfect time to start working on the social media aspect of your business and ensure that you cover your bases right the first time.

If you take a look at the top twenty websites in the world at almost any given time, you’ll notice there are several social media sites listed, and this fact alone should be enough to prompt you to get over there, and create an online presence on each of those sites in order to capitalize on the massive volume of traffic that they each generate. Twitter is my third highest source of traffic to my website following Google in first (who provides me with 60% of my traffic) and direct traffic in second place. Traffic is, and always will be the lifeblood of your online business, and you can’t afford to overlook these social media sites that are already ranked so high, and receive so much traffic each and every day!

Twitter Traffic Stats

Take a look at the traffic stats for Twitter and notice the direction the traffic is trending, it’s a pretty strong indicator that social media is not only gaining ground, but gaining it fast!

Setting up a Twitter account takes no time at all, but after that it’s a good idea to design a background for your account. If you can’t make your own, head over to Fiverr and have someone make one up for you, or if you need higher quality find a designer who is willing to make it for you. Generally you can get some pretty nice ones between twenty-five and fifty dollars. Then rather than worrying about finding a massive following in the shortest amount of time, actually spend time finding quality followers that are willing to interact with you, and eventually you’ll notice that these people just might become your client, or customers. I’ve seen people with less than 1000 followers earn more than someone with 10,000 followers simply because his followers were more responsive, and he had spent the time to build trust with them.

Facebook is another obvious choice for setting up a page with, and developing it with your fans in mind. Offer them something that they can’t get everywhere else on the internet, and you’ll soon notice that people start liking and following your fan page and its updates. Part of having a fan page is gaining access to all kinds of wonderful stats about who is interacting with your page, how many fans it has, where they come from etc.  There is a whole wealth of data available to you to help you tweak and enhance your page to make it as productive and profitable as you can.

Mobile marketing is the latest and greatest buzz word in the internet marketing circles, and for good reason. Everyone has a cell phone! Ok, you might be saying, “not everyone has a cell phone” and your right… but 250+ million Americans carry mobile phones, that’s over 80% of the nation’s population.
According to the International Telecommunication Union Cell phones subscriptions are about to top 5 billion globally! Do you imagine any of these people might be accessing Twitter or Facebook or their other favorite social media network from their phones? Of course they are! By setting up a social media marketing campaign you’ll already be on your way to developing a mobile marketing campaign. (More on that in a coming article)

I’ve listed only the top two social media networks, but after you build up these two, you might very well want to expand yourself and open yourself up to a wider audience by investing some time and resources into other social media arenas that are available to you online.

So how exactly does a social media marketing plan work? Glad you asked!

Content (Engagement)
Communication Channels (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, You’re blog)
Marketing Message (both online and offline)
Engagement (relationship building)

Content:

Well first you need content which will help you to engage your visitors and can come from any number of sources. For my site, I use blog posts, status updates, twitter updates, etc., but also have audio, and video as well as images. Some people utilize images (Flickr) to capture the attention and focus of people and then start the next process which is communication.

Communication channels:

Opening up communication channels is a crucial aspect to your online business, and just launching a blog or a website isn’t enough so creating and developing a presence on sites like Twitter, and Facebook will give you additional channels with which to engage your visitors with your content. (The content brings them in)

Marketing message:

While it’s great to provide content that is valuable to the people you reach, there still needs to be a clear marketing message so that you are able to turn these visitors into prospects, and then into customers.
Offer up valuable information that is specific to your niche, and then offer your products or services around the information in such a way as to not be a sales pitch but more of a recommendation that will be seen as something that will make their lives easier. If you happen to be selling a social bookmarking tool that automates the process of social bookmarking, then perhaps offering tutorials or training courses on the product could be one source of content that brings in potential customers.

Engagement:

A mistake that many people make is forgetting about all those fans, or followers that they spent so much time, effort, and money trying to attract in the first place. Now that you have built up your traffic, and visitor base, spend time engaging them. Keep them informed of any information that they might find relevant or valuable. Perhaps there is a promotion going on that you heard about, but isn’t public knowledge yet, share it with your readers. It will go a long way toward building trust with them. Remember, engagement is about communication, so communicate with them.

Smart Goals

SMART Goals

I’m sure many of you are familiar with the acronym S.M.A.R.T goals, but for those who aren’t or would like a refresher!

Whenever you are sitting down to write out some goals for your business, blog, or just for yourself, it’s important to make sure you are setting out goals that you are more likely to succeed at, and there are a few things you can do to give you a slight edge, and help ensure that you achieve them.

Make sure they are S.M.A.R.T. goals.

S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Attainable
R – Realistic
T – Timely

Specific

Now for the first one, specific – what this means is that when you’re writing out your goals try and make them as specific as possible, generally speaking when we set vague or general goals. For example if you’d like to get into shape this year, rather than writing out goal number one, get into shape. You’d be much better off writing Join World’s Gym, and commit to training at least 4 times a week. Instead of saying goal number two, save money, you’d be better off with – will have HR deduct $100 off of each paycheck and deposit it into an RRSP or whatever savings vehicle you happen to use.

Another example would be if you are saving up for a motorcycle, don’t just write out “Save up for motorcycle”, instead head down to the dealership, pick up some brochures, figure out the exact cost, choose the color you’re going to want it in, be specific! Heck, post a picture of it up on your goal board if that helps.

Measurable

It helps if you can measure your success with the goal, and how far along toward reaching it you are during the process. Generally speaking smaller goals that take a single act don’t make it onto goal lists.
Using the previous example of buying a motorcycle, you would have a clear item of measure… how much money you had saved vs. how much you needed for the purchase price. For longer term goals, you can treat it like you would a college course. Break it down into sections, and them each month, this will keep you on track of finishing either on time, or if your so inclined, ahead of time!

Attainable

It’s important to stretch yourself when you set goals, because if they come easy, chances are they probably aren’t worth as much to you. However it’s important to make sure they are attainable to you with your current level or knowledge, resources, and ability. If your goal is to become a real estate tycoon, but you’re unemployed and still living with your mom, then perhaps it might be more appropriate to set the initial steps first.

1.       Find gainful employment

2.       Start saving a down payment

3.       Research the marketplace

4.       Etc.

Realistic

While stretching yourself when setting goals is all part of the challenge, if you consistently set goals for yourself that you are unable to achieve, you’ll soon stop setting them if you never, ever accomplish them. Try to set goals that you can realistically achieve. Some goals while outside of your own area of expertise are still important, so don’t be afraid to outsource, or consult with a professional in order to accomplish a goal. If building a website is a priority that makes it onto your list, but you really don’t have the inclination to go out and learn programming and graphic design, this might be a case where it’s better to outsource to someone who has made this their personal career choice in life, and in the end you will end up with a stunning design from someone with twelve years of experience rather than someone who just learnt how to complete this one job.

Timely

Now this works both ways, you want to make sure you have enough time allotted to accomplish your goals, but at the same time you should have an end date in mind as well, or you may find they tend to drag on and on, until you can barely remember why it was you were looking at accomplishing that particular goal. Many people utilize more than one list of goals in order that they might sort them into the time frame that suits that particular goal best. I personally use three for myself, a one to three month list, three to six month list, and one year plus. This lets me keep track of the big picture while also keeping focus on issues that need to be completed fairly quickly.

Setting goals can be a fun, visual way to keep you on track and focused on the things in life that you have determined to be important to you in your life. Plus achieving them, just feels good!

Don’t Just Sit There

Choices

Don’t just sit there, do something!

If you’re earning a living with your blog or website, then chances are you’ve already grasped this concept long ago, and that’s why you’re making enough money to support you and your family with your online ventures. If on the other hand you haven’t started making money yet, aren’t able to support your family but are trying to move your business in that direction, then by all means read on.

Making money online isn’t hard! There I said it, many people out there are struggling to make any money online though and is probably reading this thinking “yeah, ok!”

Want to know what the easiest way to make money online is? Tell people about the wonders of online income, build a product claiming to teach them all the necessary steps and charge them $97 for the launch, with the price rising to $147 in a week (because quantities of this digital product are limited), and after that simply rinse and repeat with the next new product.

And guess what? Since the first product didn’t live up to its hype, there is no decrease in the marketplace, because no new millionaires were created, and these people are now $97 dollars poorer, so even more desperate to achieve what these products are claiming.

Now that being said, there are still people making decent products that will teach you steps that will help you along the way, but trust me, there is no magic button hidden away on a secret website that once you push it will deliver $100 bills into your PayPal account effortlessly. (That was an offer that just popped up on Twitter a min ago.)

You have to start treating this like a business, invest your money wisely and your time even wiser, stop sitting there doing nothing, and even worse, stop sitting there spending your valuable time looking for that magic button that just doesn’t exist. How much money did you make online yesterday? How about today? How much are you going to make tomorrow? If the answer is what I think it was then you can’t afford to waste $97 or your time.

Invest in yourself!

I don’t know how you spend your days, or even what commitments you have, so I’m just going to use an example, and let you adjust it to suit your life, and business needs. This is an example of a fictitious person who is starting his online business.

Online Mike –

Online Mike is looking to make a living in the online world, and while he has some skills he’s picked up over the years, he has yet to make any money online. This is how I suggest he spend his days, and efforts in order to start building his business, and making money at the same time.

Here are his skills at present (doesn’t matter if these aren’t your skills, work with what you have)
He has decent writing skills, and doesn’t mind writing; he’s technologically inclined, and has been surfing the net for seven years, and has most internet skills. (Email, browsing, etc.)

Since Mike doesn’t mind writing, he’s going to go with an online blog that will chronicle the journey he is about to embark on with becoming an online entrepreneur in the hopes that others will benefit from his learning’s as well as his mistakes and pitfalls.

These are his blog business goals:
- Write daily
- Build up his readership to 1000 visitors a day
- Sell advertising on his blog after he becomes popular
- Build an optin list of people interested in the same topic as he is
- Offer a service that will keep him afloat while he builds up his blog

8 Hour Day

Hour #1
Since he’s committed to building up a loyal readership and to writing content daily, part of his day will be spent researching and writing at least one quality blog post each day. We’ll give him 1 hour to write 1000 words.

Hour #2
Writing content isn’t enough, you need to promote your website, and any services you plan to offer daily, this can be done in many ways, but our friend mike is going to go with social networking, social bookmarking, and forum participation.

Hour #3, 4, 5 (30 min of promotion, and 2.5 hours of daily writing)
Mike needs to pay for his hosting, and other online bills, as well put some food on the table, so rather than spend his time scouring the web looking for ways to get rich quick, he’s going to offer an article writing service on the forum he’s participating in, as well as via his website and other social networks. He’s charging $10 for 500 words, which is a fair price for his quality of writing, and he soon has 5 customers who require him to write posts on their blogs on a daily basis. (He’s now writing two and a half hours for $50 a day, and is continuing to build up his readership, website, and other networks while also building himself a reputation on the online forum as a quality writer who gets your work done on time.

Hour #6
Online mike realizes that there is a lot he needs to learn about internet marketing so he’s going to devote 1 hour each day to furthering his online education by reading through his forum, other blogs in his niche, as well as some online training material that he’s found and bookmarked.

Hour #7

Mike has read that it’s important to have your own product or eBook, so he’s devoting an hour out of each of his days to further that particular project, and is researching and writing an EBook that he will later offer up for sale on Clickbank, in the hopes adding some residual type income to his current article writing income.

Hour #8
Mike is now winding down for the day, he’s built up his business, made a couple new contacts, made some contributions on his forum, and is planning out his day’s work tomorrow so that he can get a running start at it, one of the blogs he’s now writing for has asked if he’d consider writing an ebook for them so they can give it away in exchange for email addresses, and if so how much he’d charge them. Life is good, and moving along nicely!

Now this is just a fictional story, but there is no reason it can’t be reality, as you can see there was no magic button being pressed, and yet he was able to make money online, and start building up his online business. If he keeps up with it, he’ll become better at his tasks, he will start accumulating online properties or assets, and eventually he will find his place in the online world.

I wish each of you the utmost in success!

Public Speaking

Public Speaking

As an internet marketer there is a fairly good chance that you have some very valuable information stored away that you’ve gleaned from over thousands of websites, training programs and books, not to mention all of the applied knowledge that you have built up over the years. There may very well come a time when you are invited to speak in front of an audience of up and coming entrepreneurs and it might benefit you to be comfortable with the whole public speaking fear that many of people have.

It has been said that more people are afraid of public speaking than even death! Think about that for a second, that means that at most funerals we’d rather be the person in the coffin that the person giving the eulogy! Well, maybe not quite, but either way, I think maybe I’ll share some public speaking tips with you anyhow.

Make sure you invested enough time into the material and you know it backward and forward, if you’re using slides, it’s a good idea to do some dry runs at home and time yourself so that you ensure you are able to stick to the timetable that is given to you. The more comfortable you are with the material, the more at ease you will be during the speech or discussion and it will go a long way to showing your expertise in the area as well.

Whenever possible, especially when you are still new to public speaking, it’s a good idea to have someone listen to you give a mock speech, and provide you with feedback at the end. They can tell you if you’re talking to fast, to quiet, perhaps you have nervous gestures that you aren’t aware of and can give you valuable insight into areas to be aware of. Generally the more nervous we get the more pronounced these things will be, if you tend to talk to fast, then the more nervous you get, the faster you’ll end up speaking.

One of the hardest parts of public speaking for me is the fact that it doesn’t flow like a natural dialogue, and that’s because it isn’t so much a dialogue as a one way conversation to a large group of people! If it was give and take, it would be much easier, because there would be brief moments when the attention was off the speaker, and onto the audience member asking or answering a question. Unfortunately this isn’t always the case, and you need to get used to the idea that you’re the one with the information, and it’s up to you to get it out in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

Try to make a point of showing up to the venue a little bit ahead of schedule, grab a bottle of water and just wander around getting familiar with the layout, stage, and note where everything is. If you’re using sound equipment because of a large audience get in some sound check time as well as see how the room will look when the lights are dialed in for your speaking time in case they use stage lights to illuminate your area. A group of high powered stage lights coming on when you aren’t expecting it can cause you to lose your focus, especially when they are turned on you!

When the audience starts arriving make a point of meeting some of them, and introducing yourself, make a mental note of where they are sitting in the audience so that when you actually make it onstage you will know several members of the audience and be able to speak to them more as a group of friends than a group of total strangers. You might even incorporate one of them into your speech if you found a story or experience that might tie in with your topic and you get added points if you use the individual’s name.

Make sure you have some water available close by, and if you start to get dry, by all means head over and take a sip, you can even use it to your advantage if you aren’t dry, and just need a moment to collect your thoughts! It might seem unnatural to you, to pause in the middle of your speech, but trust me, it’s the most natural thing to see a speaker walk over and take a sip of some water, and then start speaking again. These people aren’t in the audience to judge you, but to learn from you. Also if the topic is such that you can introduce some humor, then by all means introduce it! It will lighten the mood in the room, and build a bond between you and the audience and do wonders as far as relaxing you and setting your mind more at ease.

Use humility to your advantage, the audience expects you to be human, and they already know the fear that comes with public speaking, trust me! If you get nervous half way through don’t be afraid to mention it, by that point they’ve already noticed it anyway. Also don’t be afraid to use your own failures or life experiences in your story, or speech. It will show the audience that yes, you too failed despite the fact that you are now successful enough that people are asking you to speak publicly about a subject or topic.
